I absolutely loved the gluten-free coating on the halibut since I'm not a fan of tempura-style batter. The Tanner crab was amazing, and the fried pickles were also great, though the portion was huge (definitely too much for one person). Service was excellent both nights. The bartenders were really friendly, and the food came out quickly and smoothly. The interior is also super cute, kind of an old-school lounge vibe with lots of velvet. Came at 5:05 and We sat at the bar this time, no reservations. We had one round of cocktails, the fried pickles, pork belly bites, and the bread board. The fried pickles were heavy and we could only eat a few of them. I do enjoy the string version instead of the slices. They changed the bread board from when we came last, four dollops of butter, two were the same I think chives and bone marrow. No more honey and jelly options. The pork belly was also very good. Not long after, we noticed a line starting to build up, so we were glad we arrived when we did. The server was knowledgeable and fun to chat with, which added to the experience. We walked in with my elderly parents and were seated at bar stools by the host, Rachel. We asked if we could sit at an open high-top table nearby instead, particularly because the party ahead of us had just been seated at one. Rachel refused, stating that the party had a reservation. However, we had just overheard that exact group's conversation with staff: they were walk-ins facing a 45-minute wait who were offered the table after declining the bar. When we asked to speak with management before leaving, a staff member who presented herself as "second-in-command" told us she didn't see the owner and said we could just talk to her. She quickly became defensive and visibly annoyed when we explained what happened, likely because she was involved in that decision. We spotted the owner, Matt, nearby and approached him directly. While acknowledging that his host had lied to us, he claimed that seating us at the high table would have been a disaster because there was no server for that section, so the host was just ensuring we received good service. He then lectured us that in hospitality, it is "easier to tell a white lie to avoid complicating the situation." During this conversation, the second-in-command employee used vulgar language in front of my elderly parents and told us to just leave. Seeing another group given accommodations that were denied to us--coupled with management defending deceit and using profanity toward paying guests--made it clear our business was not respected. I went with the Oaxaca old fashioned for my drink and I enjoyed sipping it slowly. We had the Bone marrow butter for appetizer and the marrow butter was pretty tasty. The mushroom pate was very underwhelming though. Our entree orders came by at a very decent pace. My entree of Rockfish was good, but could have done better with more sauce. I was told that this place had a new chef so the food was now "great!" Since I'm in town working and wanted dinner, I stopped in. First, the place looks like1985 retired inside in a good way. The bar in lined in plush red fabric and the photos, decor and chairs all are retro to the max but what did the food taste like? So I ordered the smash burger and roasted mini Yukon gold potatoes with creme and bacon. The burger was kinda charred I guess but still good, the server never asked how I wanted it cooked so that was a HUGE minus, but it wasn't bad just not great, the flavor was good, the veggies were fresh, just not great! The potatoes were the star of the show! They were perfectly seasoned and the creme and bacon sauce was MONEY!! They literally melt in your mouth and were roasted perfectly without being mushy. The service was good, the vibe was super chill. The place is kinda pricey for what you get but that is everything in this little town. I will be back to try some other things eventually. read more

I will start by saying that the ambiance and decor were truly amazing, a very cozy space. Now on to the important thing, to me at least... THE FOOD! Almost everything we got was underwhelming. The halibut chowder was the only thing I really enjoyed and tasted great! I was very excited to try the halibut and fries based on other reviews but everything had no flavor, like they didn't even add a pinch of salt so I was highly disappointed to pay close to $40 for a meal that tasted like nothing. The fries were supposed to have salt, pepper, garlic and definitely didn't have either of the three. The fried pickles were OK, the duck drumsticks had a strong meat flavor & gave me the ick. I would not come back here for the food.. we didn't have a drink but it seems more like a cocktail lounge than a place you should go to for food. Passed by here on our first day in Seward. The vibe looked funky as Hell on the outside, which I kinda digged. Immediately wanted to go in and try it out, but it was packed. Whatever image that brings up in your mind when you hear Flamingo Lounge, that is the atmosphere you are walking into. We got the Bucket of Butt and the Sourdough Bread Board as well as a couple of drinks. The drinks were top notch, and the Bucket of Butt was some of the best halibut I've ever had in my entire life. The slaw had a wonderful flavor, but it clearly was the prep cook's first time holding a knife. They just went after that poor cabbage like it had betrayed an ancient bloodline. Overall, incredible experience, but I was very disappointed that there were no flamingos anywhere to be found. I told the taxi driver that I was at "The Lounge" because of this oversight. I cant believe my first time having bone marrow was in Alaska. The drinks were fantastic, but the bone marrow dish was unlike anything I've ever had before. I pretty much ate this entire dish alone. On our first day in Seward, Alaska, we were told by the lodge front desk that we gotta check out Flamingo Lounge for their drinks and food before we left Seward. Since we were highly suggestible, we went there for dinner. It was a full house at the restaurant and we almost got turned away. Lucky for us, two seats opened up and we got to sit by the kitchen to watch all the actions! The menu had a lot of choice, but we settled with the 28 dollar sandwich, halibut nuggets, broccolini, brussel sprouts, and tots. We also ordered an old fashioned. Everything was good indeed. Our favorite was the 28 dollar sandwich. It was meaty, juicy, and fulfilling. Our least favorite was the price. We understand the income potential is not great during the winter, but paying LA price in little town Seward hurt our feelings. Overall experience was just ok. We truly enjoyed the food and drink, but the service was lacking. The host had a little attitude but she did her best to find us a seat so we like her. But once we sat down, it took a long time to even get a glass of water. For the most part of our meal, no one really attended us and water was never refilled. At the end of the day, we would still recommend the place since we care about the food more than service, but just be aware. read more

The vibe inside is super unique for Seward but loved that it was still relaxed. We tried out a few of the beers and mocktails and all were delicious. Our food was good, not great, but overall everyone was pleased. The brussel sprouts were way too salty for me and personally would skip on the fries in the future. Service was solid even when busy. Ambiance is weird, but dim, cool, copper ceiling, velvet pulls, and one hell of a collection of liquor bottles. Food was amazing last time. I had short rib and bone marrow. On point. Everywhere I go now, if I see dates on the menu I get them and, they are usually delicious, but they make me miss Flamingo Lounge! Hands down the best cocktail bar in Alaska. The vibe is perfect - partly eclectic, partly trendy, and partly dive. This is my kinda place. I came in here two nights in a row because it was that good! The first time I was there Spencer was our server and we had a full dinner. Everything he recommended was on point.I am not usually one for fried food, especially fish and chips but I have to say the bucket of butt was so freaking good - I'm still thinking about it!. Who knew fish and chips could be so good? They nailed it. I came back the next night and sat at the bar because I needed to try some of their cocktails.
