Went on a Wednesday night for open mic and had a blast. It's a dive full of Seward locals. Seriously it was one of the highlights of our trip. Three stand up comics performed and they were great! It was such an unexpected good time. Brayden, the saxophonist in Blackwater Railroad Company sang and played acoustic guitar. We were a party of 4 at Yukon Bar on Monday, 7/14/2025 around 5 pm. We were sitting at the bar. The bartender was nice and all but she kept taking away half full drinks and cash change on the bar when one us stepped out to check on a dinner reservation or the bathroom. She did not ask the others in the party if they have left for the night at all. We lost drinks and an untold amount of cash due to her taking what was left on the bar. This behavior by a bartender is not any bar etiquette I know. Frequent dive bar goer here. read more

The Yukon Bar hosted the official after party for the sold-out Beers by the Bay fundraiser. Since I've yet to visit Homer's version of this establishment, we left our event early to make sure we were able to get in. Like many Seward attractions, The Yukon Bar is also conveniently located on 4th street. Definitely divey, but a welcoming, cool atmosphere nonetheless. The closest I've come to seeing a bar like this would have to be Chilkoot Charlie's in Spenard, Anchorage. A must visit when in Seward, for sure. Bartender wasn't the friendliest, but she did her job and she was efficient. It's still cash only, a lot of what's available to order, came from a cooler, and stayed in a can FYI. No frills, but decent live music/bands playing. read more

The reviews are pretty accurate for this place. We were glad we went earlier in the afternoon so there was space at the bar and we had good conversations with the locals. That is one great thing about Alaskan bars, it's easy to strike up a conversation and learn anything you would want to know about Alaska. So this place is a fine example of that. read more

Basing this rating strictly based on the fact that I'm not likely to go back. The decor is awesome. Literally hundreds of dollar bills stuck to the ceiling. And no real theme at all, just a little bit of everything which is chaotic but it works. Also, the bouncers were dressed in leather cowboy vests without a shirt underneath? Makes absolutely no sense but again, it just works. The real disappointment for me was the music. Music is a vibe-setter and the music was just not it. Lots of country but not even good country. Personally I think Cotton Eyed Joe should be outlawed from playing in public but to each their own. It's probably a bit unfair to give this rating for the music but if I the tunes are off, the vibe is off. read more

Dive bar!!! Love these kind of places. Definitely a local bar with a few daring tourists mixed in (like us) watching the action. I wanted this to be like my favorite type of bar. Divey, old with character, and fun. It's old. But the vibe is more run down and kind of gross. It smells like smoke in there and they have a cigarette vending machine. And there's people smoking out front and the smokes blowing in. For what it is, it's a cool place. Friendly, no pretense, no frills, and definitely no woke. It's perhaps a bit grungy and some may call it a dive bar, but it's more than that. It's a piece of Alaskan authenticity in the middle of town that some tourists might overlook...and that would be unfortunate. Everyone should go here for at least one beer and tack a dollar bill on the ceiling. read more

If you manage to come here and not have a great time, you need to start looking at what you're doing wrong. (with your life) Always a rowdy crowd, often a fun band. Locals, Anchorage-folk, and tourists alike, old and new...this place has something for everyone. Think of it like the "Salty Dawg" of Seward...or is the Salty Dawg really the "Yukon Bar" of Homer?! Anyway, they are both loud, fun bars with money on the ceiling that happen to only accept cash. Surprisingly good tap selection for such a divey interior. DIVE BAR AND LOVES IT! Drove from Anchorage to Seward on a Saturday to scope out the Sealife Center (check out my other review!). We heard that this place was the "salty dawg" of Seward or the "salty dawg" was the "yukon bar" of Homer..... I see someone else heard this as well! Ice cold beer, cheaper than anywhere else we have been but be prepared to pay cash! A note for people who do not like smoking... they smoke here (A LOT). Might want to bring an extra set of clothes to change into after :) Super cool place, do not miss it on your visit! read more

If you're looking for a local watering hole, with lots of character, and characters, then look no further. This is not a classy brew pub, but more of a local, down & dirty bar. The live music is good, though very loud. The drinks are strong, and the restroom smells like piss. Sometimes, that's exactly the type of place I'm looking for. Everyone I met was very friendly. Don't get me wrong, the Yukon Bar is nothing fancy, but if you're looking for an authentic Seward experience I think it's a must! This place was filled with locals having a good time. They have live music on the weekends. The bartender was great and mixed great drinks, and all at a great price for a price. Just a heads up though....Yukon Bar is very smoking, as many people smoke in there. I'm not a smoker and that smell bothered me, but if you don't mind cigarette smoke then it won't bother you at all! This bar is awesome! We stayed for two nights at Seward and came here both nights. Prices for drinks were reasonable. The bartender was very friendly and coincidentally, from Culver City! The bartender told us that they have a live band pretty much every night starting at 9 pm. We were too early for the band the first night, but made it to see them the second night. They're call I Like Robots and they cover 80's bands. I really enjoyed listening to them as I knew every song they performed. The crowd the second night was a mixture of locals and tourists. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and some were even dancing. Aside from the live band, they also have a vending machine and FREE peanuts, which I didn't find out about until the second night or else I would've eaten way more of it. I would totally come back here if I were to come to Seward again and I'd definitely recommend Yukon Bar to others. read more

This is the local go to bar. Every night they have a different event (open mic, karaoke, dj dance party, live music, etc) That's all I have to say. Warning... your normal crowd pleasers songs are not the normal crowd pleasers here. read more

We're on a dive bar tour and this place did not disappoint. Friendly staff and cheap place to gab some beers until about 930 when things really get going... they have live music most nights. I would give the band Juno Smile 6 stars for not being annoyed as we all yelled song requests and executing them perfectly. Also the chapstick Juno Smile had was surprisingly awesome. read more

Was told by our hotel manager that this was the place to be as "Hobo Joe" was performing that night. Absolutely loved this bar - tons of interesting lighting and dollars plastered to every available surface on the ceiling and walls, great performance by HoBo Joe, cheap beer (Cash only though), and being that it was summer solstice, a night that never ended. Definitely seemed like a local watering hole and we really enjoyed ourselves here. Would be back next time we are ever in Seward! My only regret is that we missed karaoke the following night. read more

Drinks were fairly well priced compared to other spots in the area. They had live music which was also a bit surprising, but cool. This place had the cheapest beer I have found in Seward... The only reason why I did not give it the last star is because they did not serve food there. BUT if you're able to walk about 20 feet you can go next door and order a (crazy salty but delicious) burger and if you ask really nice, they'll bring it over to you! read more

I don't have a local bar in Anchorage, but I do in Seward! The Yukon Bar is apparently a historic building, but the draw for me lies in the friendly bartenders and the awesome Bloody Marys they mix. Add to that free WiFi, the canine mascots that periodically roam through, and excellent live-music offerings on the weekends, and it's a great, down-to-earth place to warm a stool for a few hours. read more

I am writing this because it really sucks when the bartender sits at the end of the bar on their phone and pays no attention to the customers. Maybe I'm expecting too much by not wanting the bartender to be on their phone when there's customers in the bar. It does not seem very professional to me. read more
