Crab, crabcakes, and sides

Hostess had no customer service vibe, we asked for a window seat, and despite one being available, she sat us in middle of room. I pointed out the window table, and she reluctantly moved us. The server was FABULOUS..best part of dinner. We had dungeoness crab, and it was...meh... and served w frozen green beans, barely cooked, no seasoning, and rice that was...rice. again, no added flavor. We also got crab cakes, which had little crab, but all the spices the other food lacked. I would spend my money for seafood elsewhere. ( TAPHOUSE )

Chinooks is a pretty nice to stop in town if you're looking for a casual place with friends to relax for a bit and enjoy a breathtaking view. Service was very mid, at least for a table of two adults with a baby in a corner. But I at least liked that they gave us a corner seating which worked with my stroller and came with a perfect view of the harbor on a beautiful summer day. The food is maybe hit or miss. If you like a crisp crab cake this is not it. These were definitely on the mush side and leaving sauce to be desired. The fish and chips were very pleasant. I'd come here again if I had folks from out of town to show off this wonderful view to but not so much be back for the culinary element they've got here.

I was looking forward to treating myself to a nice meal while in iconic Seward and naturally wanted to have seafood. Massive disappointment. The salmon tasted like absolutely nothing special pretty much flavorless and the sides were about 12 frozen green beans and maybe 3 tablespoons full of white ass rice. This photo is of the food as it arrived completely untouched. Absolutely could've made better in my own home without waiting or tipping. Had to fill up on a friend's fries before leaving because this was so truly skimpy. I didn't have the energy to fight it but will never go back. I'm shocked they think that they can get away with this but clearly they can. Hey guys at least cover up the plate with the nearly free frozen veg to give it some color. PS there's a store in town where I wish I had purchased dinner instead as a Ready Go Meal would have left me sated. Go get some asparagus and give a damn about being BLATANTLY cheap.

This is the only restaurant that we found open in Seward. Walking distance from the train station so it is very convenient to have a bite to eat before boarding. We just got appetizer crab cake and clam chowder. Both were very good. Service was fast and server was so sweet. We got seated next to the window with view of the boats. Very nice location and we enjoyed our foods!

Clam chowder had zero flavor. Caesar also super bland and the super tiny side for $12. Beer was good

Food was overpriced. Poor value for money. They did have nice waterfront views. Friendly and attentive servers.

We took a walk to the waterfront for 15-20 mins and could have easily gotten a drink somewhere or done some window shopping. Everything was really good - starting with salmon gougere amuse bouche, the soup of the day (curry carrot?), and local oysters to the smoked scallop cocktail. The fried chicken, salmon, and shrimp and grits. We ended up ordering the cream cheese ice cream which ended up taking FOREVER since they forgot about it and never checked on us. Unfortunately the cream cheese ice cream was also kinda disappointing and was just like scooped frozen cheesecake - which don't get me wrong is delish but not worth the wait or $. Service was good until the end. Great wine options! Prices on par with SF and presumably Alaska/touristy areas.

The hostesses were warm and friendly. There is good reason why it's popular. The food that comes out of the kitchen is elevated, creative and tasty---worthy of more sophisticated large urban cities. Service was casual, but proficient. We had oysters, which were tiny but full of tastes of the ocean. There was an amuse bouche of a choux filled with salmon cream. It was light and a good start to the meal. The shrimp with grits was artfully presented and tasted good. The cream of mushroom soup was rich and earthy. Fried chicken was a nice take on a simple dish. And the salmon dish was a clear proof of Alaska's rich waters. Loved this special place.

Which I honestly didn't consider since it was toward the end of the season. It just goes to show how good this place was that it was still loaded during this time of the year. Would definitely recommend getting reservations if you want to eat here. We were able to reserve dinner for the next night, and it didn't disappoint. Whatever image that brings up in your mind when you hear Flamingo Lounge, that is the atmosphere you are walking into. We got the Bucket of Butt and the Sourdough Bread Board as well as a couple of drinks. The drinks were top notch, and the Bucket of Butt was some of the best halibut I've ever had in my entire life. If I had one complaint, it's only that there wasn't enough butt in that bucket. If we ever come back to Seward, this is definitely the first place I'll eat at.

First, the place looks like1985 retired inside in a good way. The bar in lined in plush red fabric and the photos, decor and chairs all are retro to the max but what did the food taste like? So I ordered the smash burger and roasted mini Yukon gold potatoes with creme and bacon. The burger was kinda charred I guess but still good, the server never asked how I wanted it cooked so that was a HUGE minus, but it wasn't bad just not great, the flavor was good, the veggies were fresh, just not great! The potatoes were the star of the show! They were perfectly seasoned and the creme and bacon sauce was MONEY!! They literally melt in your mouth and were roasted perfectly without being mushy. The service was good, the vibe was super chill. The place is kinda pricey for what you get but that is everything in this little town. I will be back to try some other things eventually.

This hotel was by far the worst place that we had stayed on our trip to alaska out of all seven locations. You check in at the restaurant.Although we had to go into the bar to find somebody to check us in and get us a key to the room. The guy was really nice. That checked us in and the price was right. Unfortunately, that was where the good things ended did. The place is clearly very dated, which is totally fine. There are random holes all along the wall, where it looks like other things used to be. Our friends were staying in the room next to us and their carpet was absolutely disgusting. Thankfully, we had some sort of vinyl on our floors. So that it wasn't that bad. Her bedding had multiple tears in it. Nothing in the room matched from the towels to the sheets. When we pulled back the sheets of the bed, there were little specks of what looked like dirt all along the bed, and it appeared that the sheets had not been cleaned. Thankfully, we had each brought a blanket. So we were able to use that to sleep with. It really, truly did feel dirty though sleeping in that bed. We only had two towels in our room for 4 people, so my husband went and asked for another. The only thing that they could give him was an extra hand towel. When I turned on the shower, the way that the shower head was facing the water, just completely shot right out of the shower stall leaving water all over the floor and no good towels to clean it up.

Then some new owners took over, and i was served limp and floppy fries and we didn't go back. Although of course I appreciate they may have had teething problems, as new owners, and that we'd go back at a later date. And we did return today. Our server was friendly, and helpful, brought us coffee, in sturdy Sunrise Inn mugs, and took our order (Crispy Chicken wrap and fries for me, Chili in Bread bowl for him) The atmosphere was warm and friendly, with quite a few diners in, chatting to the server. Guys, the Crispy Chicken Wrap brought to me, was simply outstanding. Perfect in every way. Great mix of crunchy vegetables, cheese, and creamy ranch, i cannot praise it enough. It's the best I've personally tasted, in, well, ever really. And the fries have redeemed themselves 1000%. Super crisp, and soft inside, beautifully seasoned. I am so happy that Sunrise Inn is THIS good. I'll be driving back down just to have this again, and think nothing of the drive. Blake really enjoyed his Chili Bread Bowl too. Seriously, if i can get food this good i don't really care about the cost, or the length of the drive to get to it. But yes of course it would be more convenient if it were in Anchorage, but the drive is half the fun. Also the staff - the server was great, very friendly, and the chef brought out our meals to us, and he had these pants on featuring fish. Very alluring, and I told him so. We'll be back sooner rather than later
