My son ordered the chicken and waffles- he said the waffles were good but the chicken, tho well fried was completely lacking seasoning My partner ordered the buttermilk fried chicken entree with mashed potatoes and he had the same sentiment- no seasoning and also added that it was a boneless chicken thigh, and the texture was also off putting. I ordered the Alfredo pasta with a bay shrimp add on and the clam chowder- both were okay, my main complaints being that my food was lukewarm while the chicken that my son and partner ordered were steaming hot- the chowder was very well seasoned and flavorful- but also very thick and I got a clam that was gritty. Not a terrible place to eat, their hospitality was great... but also idk if I would go back if given the choice. Based on past reviews, we prob should have ordered burgers. read more

I was hungry and it's my day off so I walked over to this spot. I was here last week but I'm I just checked in. LOL! Today I remembered to do all the things including take pictures of my food. I walked in and was seated immediately, I chose to sit at the bar because it's just easier and the chairs all have better cushion. After seeing another patron eating a burger i decided to order one too! Great choice. I had the jalapeño burger with bacon jam and man was it delicious. The burger was a perfect medium well, the brioche bun was perfectly toasted, the white cheddar cheese was the perfect complement to the slightly sweet bacon jam, the bacon was crispy, Smokey and not greasy. The only complaint was the slice of tomato that is out of season and tasteless. I mean it is Alaska after all. My seafood chowder which I paid an additional $4.00 for a cup was okay but whatever, the burger made up for it. All in all it was a great experience and delicious meal. Because it was the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, the place wasn't as packed and noisy as it can be sometimes. The ambiance was super relaxed today so I sat and ate inside. My family and some friends went to this establishment , to have a meal and celebrate our friend's twins birthday! The hostess was probably the best thing this restaurant had to offer. Our waitress was out in left field! Even with writing down the drink orders and food orders she still couldn't remember who had ordered what! Once the food it arrived and we noticed the sweet potato fries where burnt, and tasted like they haven't changed there fryer oil since last season. Once we were done we waited about 20 minutes for the waitress to bring the tickets to pay. Upon reviewing the ticket they automatically charged a %20 gratuity on each ticket! So be aware! I had a Mushroom Swiss burger but I don't remember what everyone else ordered. I looked at all of the dishes that other patrons were eating and they all looked great. We came back on another trip. I relied heavily for dinner tonight and we were not disappointed. We started off with a fried calamari appetizer. It was very crunchy and the aioli helped to round out the dish. Small criticism though as there were only 3 heads/tentacles. Usually there's a lot more. Anyway, the mains were delicious. The fried chicken sandwich was well cooked in all of its crispy wonder. The halibut was cooked perfectly and there were a fair amount of vegetables which was very much needed. One of us ordered the clam chowder and while it tasted good, there were a ton of potatoes and very little clams. I had the salmon which came with mashed potato and veggies. The salmon was I little dry (perhaps because it was a skinny piece) but had great flavor. For dessert, we shared a good sized piece of carrot cake. Ordered online using the Toast app at 8:10pm. Was given pickup time est. 8:35. Waited until 9pm (closing) for my order. Pizza was flaming hot and the fries and onion rings were room temp. Do the math. Hungry campers didn't mind much. It disappeared pretty quickly. One -medium chicken bacon ranch pizza, order of fries, and order of onion rings =$50 Everything was tasty enough. The chicken on the pizza was bleh but the dog enjoyed it. Without the chicken I really enjoyed the pizza but it was not worth $28. Both fries and onion rings while not fresh or hot, were really good. Customer service was also room temperature. Seems like there aren't a lot of options in Seward that aren't hiking up prices and serving mediocre food. I opted to camp for three additional days on top of the 5 I'd reserved, so when the food ran out, I had to try some Seward fare. However looking at the menu they have so much more to offer.. the burgers that I saw on tables looked amaze balls:) The service was good, our server pretty much left us alone but when you order pizza and beer what more do you need! The Highliner was one of two, true family style (has booths) restaurants, that was open in November, on a Friday at 6pm. Their space is no frills, clean, and bright. We sat near the bar. Our waitress was welcoming, kind, and informative. She accommodated the needs of our son well. Our party of 3 felt at ease here. The Highliner had a decent list of local brew on tap. While we waited for drinks, we witnessed another waitress fall and take down an entire tray of dinners with her. What I loved was how her crew came together and immediately started to clean her mess. They didn't seem to be upset with her or make her feel any worse than I'm sure she already did. She was able to take a moment away from diners to take a breath and her crew had her back. That was heartwarming to see. For starters, we ordered their salmon dip which was super flavorful and came with dipping bread. A match made in heaven. For entrees, we ordered a blackened chicken Caesar salad, fish and chips, and with our Bubs' tagging a long with us...........you guessed it, chicken tenders with fries! My dad and I don't eat seafood, which is the majority of the restaurants in Seward due to it being near the harbor. This restaurant seemed to have plenty of other options, so I was excited to give it a try. We shared the curly fries, which were seasoned perfectly and absolutely delicious. My dad and I split a veggie pizza, which tasted good. It wasn't anything special for a pizza, but had an amazing cheese pull to it. I ate too many fries and got super full quickly, so wasn't able to eat much pizza. Got plenty of leftovers though! Our waitress brought out this complimentary chocolate cake for my birthday which was so sweet! When I tell you this cake was bigger than the size of my head. The interior of this restaurant was cute and this definitely seems like a local restaurant. The service was a bit slow, and it took a while for our server to come by at times. People who came after got their food before us. Not a bad place! They definitely have a vast menu. For one pizza, fries and a beer the total was $46. We came here after reading numerous reviews from all the restaurants in town. This one had a kid menu and that what ultimately came down to as we have two kids and they were open on Sunday. It was a little busy when we check-in; about 20 minutes wait. The server came quick with our menu and took our order. I wanted to try the halibut ceviche and was disappointed because it was so citrus that I couldn't taste the fish at all. My husband finished it. The kids got a hamburger with fries and a cheese pizza. The cheese pizza was huge for a kid entree so the husband and his brother shared. We got the house special with blackened halibut, rice and seasonable vegetables. Fish was cooked well, veggies and rice were seasoned well. My husband was the only one ordered coffee and everything with tip came out to be $110. The restaurant has a nice view looking from inside as we got a window seat. Nothing fancy interior though. There is a playground behind the restaurant and the kids played on for a bit after lunch. Service was great; food came promptly, table was cleared quick and check came out in a timely manner. Price was okay. I gave it four stars for the super citrus favored halibut ceviche as it was $24. I recommend everything we had except the halibut ceviche but maybe someone was super heavy handed with the citrus this day. read more

Our family ordered the kids cheese burger, fish & chips, halibut sandwich, 4 alarm burger, and Drunken chicken sandwich. While my husband said his fish and chips were ok, the rest of us enjoyed our food. The 4 alarm burger was the favorite with the family. My halibut sandwich was grilled perfectly and the fries were crisp. Our server was amazing and super sweet. She made sure to check with the kitchen on ingredients for allergies and was able to make accommodations. The restaurant looks like a trailer they use for the portable classrooms at school.
