Great food, exactly what I was craving. The burgers were cooked to a perfect outer caramelization and inner temp. Fries were cooked at the right temperature and pulled exactly in time to make them the perfect crunch. The chili was a bit heavy on the chili powder or other seasoning. But it's a nit. Burger was definitely an above average burger, the fries that came with it were very good. I timed the wait it took to get the burger though and it was about 35 minutes. I'm not sure if we stopped by at a busy time but it didn't look too busy. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it usually doesn't take that long to get a burger out. This spot had lots of fried things (chicken, fries, onion rings) and burgers and not a ton of vegetables. We really enjoyed eating in the bus which had cute animal footprints and local animal info on the walls and ceilings. Best burger I've had since I've been here the last 2 summers! The location is an order at the counter type spot, and you can eat outside or inside the converted school bus. It was comfortable and plenty roomy although this place does get busy, so I'd recommend planning ahead if you have your mind set on sitting inside the school bus. The burgers are generously sized, and they don't skimp out on the toppings. I had the jalapeno burger and it was one of the spicier jalapeno burgers I've had, and I've had my fare share. Not sure why the reviews here are so good. Nothing was made fresh, everything was frozen food service ingredients. All the burgers were really overcooked, the fries were those weird coated ones and not fresh. The chicken fingers were just like the Tyson frozen ones you get at Costco. We really wanted to love this place. The bus is so awesome and quaint, the customer service was so good, all the reviews were spectacular and I loved the menu choices too! Unfortunately the quality just missed the mark. I ordered the Red's burger and was excited at the idea of eating warm ham and cheese with my burger. But the burger patty itself was just weird. It was thick and super dense and just had this texture like it wasn't a homemade patty. I mean maybe it is homemade it just didn't taste or feel that way. Plus, I got none of the ham flavor. My wife had the garlic burger expecting the burger to have like a garlic aioli spread or something. Nope, she literally had a whole entire layer of raw minced garlic slathered on her entire bottom bun. No kisses from her that night lol yikes. The chili cheese fries were good but beans in my chili is an instant . Beans in chili should be served in a bowl with a spoon not on my fries. Alaska hospitality cannot be beat! The burgers were all delicious, and the fries on the side were incredible. But the factor that put Red's over the top was their service! My party had ordered three burgers in the beginning, but wanted to make a change in the order to switch out one of the burgers for a buffalo patty. When we received our food, the staff immediately notified us that the burger was made with the original patty and they would make another with the buffalo patty. Not only did they just give us the additional burger, but they also offered three mystery shakes as well (which were so fun, highly recommend). The Burgers were the best I have had in Alaska, bar none! Four of us stopped at the old school bus that has been converted onto tables and benches. The cheese burger I ate was everything you want in a burger. The wife had a jalapeño burger also very good, a double meat burger was eaten by one of us and one ate a BLT, great bacon and very well prepared! The fries were cooked just right fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. We also had onion rings, they were just "so so" frozen and they fried! No one makes in house onion rings anymore. We stopped here after a boat tour of Kenai and it was nothing short of excellent. Service was fast, the school bus seating was SO cute, and we loved getting to look through the free books!! They had two veggie burger options (black bean burger & an impossible burger) which is more than I expected, and you can sub those on any of the burgers on the menu. I loved the mushroom swiss burger with an impossible patty, and my friends got a maple bacon burger and the chicken sandwich which were delicious and the perfect meal after a long day on the water. Great burgers! An abundance of fries! And who doesn't love eating in an old school bus. They even have cards to play Uno while you wait for your food. Only drawback is there isn't a lot of seating. Review is for vegans. It is not easy finding a place to eat in Seward as a vegan. We tried to go to quite a few places that ended up being closed, and decided to try Reds. It is evident they are not used to vegans trying to eat here, but they were very kind and did try. They gave me a list of ingredients in the veggie burger which I appreciated. Buns are potato buns and not vegan. I asked for the veggie burger without a bun, vegan. It came out with cheese and battered onion rings and I had to go back. They were very apologetic and made me another. The burger was okay (I think it was a Morningstar frozen burger), but I did really love the sweet potato fries! The price for my husband and I's food was $46 (two veggie burgers & 2 fries) which we were kind of stunned by-there are so many up charges they don't advertise but were on our receipt. For example, getting no bum is a $1 charge, sweet potato fries are $3 more, and the veggie burger was extra. We thought it was pretty insane, but at least they are very nice and had the option! read more

As apart of a road trip thru Alaska, stopping in Seward was top of the list. After a long drive, we stopped at Red's on a whim and so glad that we did. My son talks about this place to this day! It was a chilly August day and we got a total kick out of being able to eat on an old school bus, which I'm noticing is gaining popularity recently. You place your order outside, grab a seat in the bus and wait for your number to be called. There are also card games to keep you busy while you wait or to keep your kids entertained , which wasn't long by the way. The burgers we very good, I like my burgers loaded with sauce and toppings, but my counterpart tends to like just plain burgers and both of us were very pleased with everything. Their "indoor" seating is an old school bus and you place your order from another bus next door, which makes for a fun and interesting dining experience. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger with cheesy fries and the cod basket. The burger was good, but the cod was hard and not at all fresh. I would definitely stick to a burger when eating here. The food took a while, it they were busy so that was expected. When they did call our number our fries were cold and the cheese basically hardened onto the fries as though they had been sorting. Again, the employees were so kind and helpful, I hate to only give 3 stars, but the food was subpar. Definitely stick to the name and just get a burger if you end up here. read more

Really expected a better experience here. I went twice during my month and a half in Seward working seasonally. Employees are nice, but service is normally slow. Atmosphere is cool. My friends and I tried the burgers, fish and chips, and chicken basket. The burgers were not a good experience. Very greasy and the meat itself was not good. Chicken was ok but how can you mess up chicken tenders. My friend had the fish and chips and couldn't finish them she said they were so gross. Great takeout option in town with pretty great burgers! Love the garlic burger with garlic fries (no one come near me afterward), and the fries portion is very generous. As with everywhere in the summer, be prepared for a wait - 40 minutes has been my average in the evening - which may seem long but is usually shorter than the sit down restaurants around. I get that they're slammed, but I wish service was a little more friendly and consistent with what they tell customers they're sold out of. I happened to get here (unbeknownst to me) 5 minutes before close; yet, the owner took my order and served me anyway. I had a really evil burger called a Red's Burger. It was amazingly delicious and came with a ton of fries. It also probably clogged up at least 4 of my arteries....as all good burgers should. (grin) To wash it all down, I had a Mystery Shake (which is basically an undisclosed mixture of various shake flavors). Mine was really good. The restraunt seems to run in a food truck style approach, emphasizing yummy food over speed of service. Orders were taken and filled one or 2 at a time while those in line waited. In fairness, the wait is likely due to COVID related staffing shortages. Regardless, If you have the time to wait, this place is for you! We had bacon cheese burgers. The maple flavored bacon was perfect and the burger fresh and juicy. The bun was fresh and a generous side crispy fries was included. The portions are generous but unlike other reviewers I didnt even think about sharing. I ate it all and was full but not stuffed. My son got the chilli cheese fries and they had the right amount of chilli and cheese. It wasnt sloppy or soupy like other places. This is a excellent restaurant for this smaller town. The environment is really unique and it was fun to go in and have the option of eating in the bus. Staff was friendly and food got out the doors quick for the size of our party. The burgers were great and satisfied our taste buds. But the chicken tenders were clearly frozen and were dry as all get out. Fries were hit or miss some where good and some weren't so good. For the size of this town you wouldn't expect to find this sweet little spot. Would recommend to all burger lovers and people who love to eat in unique places. read more

Our tour guide recommended Red's Burgers for a quick lunch. Boy was I glad to have come here. When we arrived around 12pm, we were the only ones around so our orders took about 10 minutes. I ordered the bacon cheese burger with garlic fries and my girlfriend ordered REDS #1. The bacon cheese burger was really good and I loved the caramelized maple bacon, but the REDS #1 was amazing. The grilled ham, onions, and mushrooms for an extra $1 was a great deal and made the burger so flavorful. I'd highly recommend getting REDS #1, must be named that for a reason. The garlic fries had plenty of garlic on it and was really filling. The burger are a bit pricey, but that's expected in Alaska and at least it was a very filling lunch. read more
