Been there twice. Both times the beers were under carbonated and lacked any head.. beers flavors were good and the food was good.

Seward Brewing Company was a great stop after a long day! We had the burger and the hot chicken sandwich, and both were really good. The hot chicken had a pretty mild spice level, so if you're looking for something super spicy, this probably won't blow you away--but it was still packed with flavor. And if you're absolutely starving after a long hike or backpacking trip, you can order the burger as a double! Just be prepared... it makes the sandwich VERY large! Great spot to refuel after an adventure! My only complaint is that I'm sad they aren't open year-round because I'd definitely be back more often! read more

Food was great here so we came back a second time during our trip to Seward! The staff was very kind and attentive but not overbearing. The chicken sandwich and burgers were fantastic and I really liked the sour they had on draft! Highly recommend sitting upstairs if you can as the views were so pretty! We went in for early dinners both times and were seated right away with no wait, but it did get busy as the evening progressed. We would definitely come back here! read more

Fun brewery with good service on the main strip of town. We liked the guest tap of mango ciders offered. I tried the burger - great fries, and the burger was solid but perhaps a bit overcooked. My wife had the vegan dish - the cauliflower had good flavor but the dish might have been a bit better with some added protein - perhaps chickpeas? Ambiance was nice - seemed like locals and tourists alike came to the brewery which was fun. read more

Excellent Beer & Food. Abysmal Hospitality & Questionable Treatment -- From One of the Owners Herself, Hilary. Do Better, Lady! Let's be clear right off the bat -- this review is about the owner, Hilary's, abysmal hospitality, not the food or beer -- they were excellent. During the months of May to September, many tourists, visit eward to discover its beauty at the peak season - we were one of such visitorsin September. After a day full of wonderful sightseeing and the hospitality of our Airbnb hosts, we arrived at Seward Brewing Company to try a local Alaska brewery, as we had done with 49th State and HooDoo. Well, we arrived, sat down, and ordered their beer -- amazing! Now let's talk about the food, which ultimately turned out to be GREAT! Our wonderful server, Luke (amazing service) had a favorite dish, Black Magic, and we loved the sound of the Black Garlic Marinara. Since we're vegetarians, we asked if we could have it without the pepperoni, to which Todd said, "No problem." And -- "I'm ashamed!" -- I asked (I've clearly been spoiled by California or some basic hospitality etiquette), "Can I have onions or bell peppers instead of pepperoni?" Luke said he'd have to ask the kitchen if they had any other vegetables besides mushrooms or basil. I replied, "Mushrooms and basil are fine." Luke then told us they were also out of the Peppadew peppers. Since that's an actual ingredient listed on their pizza menu, I asked a pretty simple question: Can I replace the missing Peppadew peppers with mushrooms or basil at no extra charge? Luke said he'd have to ask the manager. A few minutes later, the manager came out. No greeting. No courtesy. Just a completely rustic manner with seemingly no concept of basic hospitality: "I understand you want Black Magic and are adding a few things at no extra charge. We don't offer a 'build your own pizza' service here, so any extras are subject to a $2/addition fee." A bit alarmed by a manager approaching a customer this way -- and tempering myself here to calibrate for small-town rawness -- I explained: "Well...I'm a vegetarian, so I can't eat pepperoni. I asked for something else instead, and that part of the substitution is my problem, so I get that. BUT...your server told me that you don't have one of the ingredients that is listed on the menu. So I asked if that can be substituted with what IS available at no upcharge. That seems reasonable." Her response? "That's what we have to offer here. If you don't like what you see, don't order it." And she walked away. SHOCKED. I couldn't help but observe her behavior throughout the rest of the night with other tables. What stood out was that her interactions elsewhere appeared cordial -- different from the dismissive treatment we received. We were also the only non-white customers in the bar at the time. Coincidence? Social/racial bias? You decide. I obviously cannot know what motivated her behavior. I can only describe what we experienced and what I observed afterward -- and the contrast was difficult to ignore. Perturbed by the entire interaction, I got her name and was even more shocked to discover that this wasn't just some random manager having a bad night. She was one of the two owners -- Hilary Bean. Seriously, Hilary -- DO BETTER. You own a hospitality business. Customers aren't asking you to bend over backwards because they politely ask whether an ingredient your kitchen doesn't have can be replaced by another ingredient. Even if the answer is simply "no," there are a hundred courteous ways to say it. "If you don't like it, don't order it" isn't one of them. The irony is that the beer was excellent. The food was excellent. Luke was wonderful. Seward itself had shown us tremendous hospitality. Which made an owner's behavior like this all the more disappointing -- and completely unnecessary. read more

GF options were limited, but the sandwich & service were fabulous! I'm a GF gal with a number of complex allergies. I used to be a cook, so I empathize with kitchens when trying to meet customer needs and I have become my own nightmare. Their menu has some twists on common coastal brewhouse food, and I could only safely eat one item on the menu. Despite a crazy dinner rush, our server was courteous and helpful to get me a safe meal (gf Smoked Moke Sando with a salad) - so this is for them & the cooks: THANK YOU! My Sandwich was so flavorful/seasoned/savory/fatty that I wept at the table lol. My boyfriend had an IPA and a Dad's pizza (needs a little more salt) and was very content. Service was fast despite the busy hour. Thanks y'all! read more

We stopped in here after camping in Seward. It is very big, lots of seating and very kid friendly. Our service greeted us promptly and was very nice. We ordered a couple apps and a meal each. I thought the food tasted amazing. The French fry appetizer (cannot remember what it was called) was the best cheesy French fries I've ever had!! I was super impressed with the food. It was a little pricy though! The beer list was very small, considering that it's a brewery. I was disappointed there was no sour or fruity beer on tap. I would definitely come back here again with the family. Thank you Seward brewing! read more

Enjoyed our time here after a fishing trip out of Seward. Burgers were well-received, and the fries were pretty good as well. I opted for the banh mi sandwich -- being from a town with significant Viet presence, I should have known better. Yeah, it had some banh mi vibe with a somewhat Asian sauce and tons of cilantro -- but it was really just a pork sandwich. Skip it. Brews were also decent. Service was great, and the place had a nice, casual vibe. I'd go with the burger the next time, but worth a visit. read more

The last time we ate here the menu was... different? I can't remember, but it was different. My husband had a hard time finding someone appealing, so he had to get the same usual burger when there's nothing he likes. We loved our app pretzel. It was IMPRESSIVE. So fluffy.. like wow. His burger was respectable. I got the No Bones vegan. It was excellent- weird, but excellent. Its one of those things you have to be in the right mood for. I was and it hit the spot. A warning, it was a bit oily, but the flavor combinations were really incredible. The reason for the star deduction? Their imperial stout is a crime against humanity. Absolute trash. It doesn't deserve to be called imperial nor stout. The only thing stout about it the color. It didn't even have a head on it when it was served to me. I'm not a beer snob, but I am Irish, Scottish and German and I have feckin standards when it comes to beer. What was served to me in a glass was trash. The food was lovely. Beer, not so much. And for a beer house, I find this unacceptable. read more

Food and service were both great! We had beer, burgers, and fries. All great. The kids also loved the brewed rootbeer.

The pizza was fantastic and they have a decent selection of craft brews! We tried the salmon bao buns and while they weren't my favorite, they had a very nice flavor. The place is spacious but loud like a typical brewery. That did not bother us at all but don't expect a quiet meal. read more

After sightseeing all day, Seward Brewing was a fun option for an early dinner. It's right near the aquarium, so a perfect choice after our visit there. Free street parking and nearby cute shops you can also explore. We got there around 4:30, so were seated right away. I ordered what I think was called the "No Bones" vegan plate. Roasted cauliflower with hummus and greens. Very innovative flavors. Cool decor and fun vibes. It was getting packed after 5 so I'm glad we arrived early enough to avoid the wait. To our surprise, Seward Brewing delivered some of our favorite food in Seward, with friendly service and a beautiful view near the water. We stopped by in September on a Thursday evening, and got seated right away on the second floor. We sampled a few dishes and ordered a flight of beer. - A Pretzel ($14) - We originally ordered this as a comfort food, but man - this might be the tastiest pretzel we've had. Perfectly browned and adorned with salt, every bite was doughy heaven, paired with the creamy beer cheese. - Send Noods ($20) - An umami bomb of flavor with the comfort of udon noodles. This was an asian flavor sensation of chili-garlic noodles and veggies. We didn't expect to find such good fusion down here. - Side of the Day ($6) - We got a mediterranean farro dish, unfortunately I don't remember the name. Another lovely fusion flavor burst with fresh vegetables and grains. - Flight ($13) Shockingly, the beer was the biggest shortcoming. Don't get me wrong, each was unique and fun, but the brewers have a clear focus on SWEET. The stout, seltzer, Saison, and Razberry smash were all very sweet. I did enjoy the Razberry the most, and the seltzer the least. The milk stout was also nice, with the most bitter profile of the flight. It would have been nice to have a clean lager or malty red, just something to break up the sweet, sweet, sweet. To be fair, there is a 49th State lager, but I'm here to try the Seward Brewing brews. Loved the meal and would come back. Just temper expectations if sweet beers aren't your thing. If they are, this might be your home. read more

The QR codes in the menu, lead you to beer and wine, and the special. A few notes: - the boards with their beer lists are either wrong or don't include everything they have on tap. They are certainly rustic and cool, but not operational. -the kimchi side is okay. -There is canned beer to go. I should have asked if they can fill growlers too. Food: Overall, I'd say we were happy with the food. It was tasty and filling The lack of sides is a little weird. I hate to be that person who says, "the prices were unreasonable" but I think the prices feel a bit more cumbersome or outrageous when you realize it is only for the sandwich or the burger. A side of some sort would have made me feel I was getting more for my money, you know? When I do a cursory search of burgers at other restaurants (49th State, Simon and Seaforts), they are all under the price of SBC and they include a side. Even the one restaurant in Seward with burgers on their menu had all their burgers and sandwiches at a cheaper price (with a side). Service: This was also a little weird. We were one of the first tables to be seated, but our server was never really the same person. It was as if we were being shared between two servers and then a kitchen person who ran out our food. This meant the extra sides we wanted to ask about or a refill on drink took quite a bit longer than it was taking the two tables on either side of us. I won't be rushing back toe SBC, but I will have to give it another chance in the future. Maybe order a couple sandwiches and a side of fries to share next time? read more

We had a great dinner here on our final night in Seward. Our only regret is that it wasn't open the previous nights we were in town, because we would've loved to try more of the menu! We ordered the Loaded Homies, Bao Down, Black Magic pizza, and Paul's Boutique pizza. The char siu pork and ultra-crispy fries took the Loaded Homies to the next level. We also loved the flavorful honey and jalapeño pairing on the Black Magic pizza. The food was a great value, and we had plenty of leftovers for the next day. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant itself is large and spacious with lots of seating. read more

A cool little spot in the downtown Seward area that was fun to visit. I'm glad we checked it out, but there was nothing about it that really stood out. We stopped by after a hike and were pretty hungry and ready for a beer. They have a small but pretty diverse and unique menu, with some interesting options. They currently have about 7 beers on draft. I got their Razpop seltzer and after the first couple of sips, I didn't have much interest in finishing it. I personally didn't love the taste of it - it had a bit of an earthy taste to it that I had a hard time describing. I didn't really taste much of the raspberry which I assumed would be a stronger flavor. I got their house veggie burger which was very beet forward in flavor. It had black beans, beets, and maybe sweet potatoes? I've never had a veggie burger like it! It was pretty good, but again not my favorite. It left more to be desired in flavor. I love a pretzel bun, which is was it was served on! The French fries stole the show! We ate them so fast - they were deliciously crispy and cooked to perfection. Definitely be sure to get those as a side! All of their burgers and sandwiches come a la carte, so you have to order their sides in addition to the entree. read more

I struggle with this spot. I want to love them more than I do. I think they have a great appetizer selection and would be happy to just eat those. The mains are less than desirable in my mind, especially given the price. It's pretty standard bar fair just with a bigger price tag. The beer selection is good, good homemade root beer as well for the N/A fair and decent service. As someone from anchorage i recognize it's hard to staff in the small towns especially during the busy summer tourist season. They did a great job considering how busy things got, but we are glad we got in early to beat the crowds. read more

Beers were just ok, not the best. Service was great and so was as the pretzel. Would go back

A revelation for a smaller town's brewco. We try nearly every brewco where we travel and this Seward's visit was exemplary of brew masters knowing their stuff. Eight taps (taps heads are designed/produced by local artisans) hit every flavor: pilsner blonde ale-ish, two distinctly different IPAs, a super delicious chocolate stout = every sample was novel and very satisfying. Highly recommend you beer advocates to stop in. And barkeep was a great guy. read more

After our adventures of ziplining, we were thirsty (for a beer) and hungry! Thankfully, our zipline driver was kind enough to drop us off here. SBC doesn't open til 3pm. We got here at like 2:55pm. There was a crowd of about 14-18 people milling outside. They opened a few minutes later and sat most of the folks immediately. And then asked us and the others behind us to wait a few minutes so that staff had time take drink orders and get the first guests settled. It really didn't take long and we were quickly sat within a few minutes. The point of this is..... This place is hopping and not just at a typical Happy Hour time or Dinner time. Everyone seemed to have the same idea we did... eat a late lunch. The Summer Ale was light and refreshing and you could easily put a few of those down quickly. Be careful there. The Red Ale was not heavy, bitter nor overly hoppy. It had a nice, pleasant flavor and finished with a hint of caramel. Pretty much why I'm partial to red ales.... I like a little body but I don't like hops or bitterness. Both of our meals were very good. I opted for the Side of the Day which was a homemade pasta salad with my Pho King Sandwich. This sandwich was heavy on the bread side of things so I didn't really eat the bread...just the greens and proteins and dug into the pasta salad. The wagyu burger was spectacular. Highly recommend. Really, how do you go wrong with wagyu? You don't. You wouldn't know this place is short staffed. All the folks working were 'on it!' We were in and out within an hour. Plenty of time for us to then do a bit of shopping and then walk the shoreline trail to the other end of town to catch our shuttle back to the Windsong. read more

Beer was meh. Menu we seen online was different than what was offered at the establishment. Menu was very sparse. They were out of pizzas when we ordered. read more

Service was extremely slow and food was mediocre at best. Beer list said $7.50 plus more for specialties and then we were charged $12 for an 8 oz. beer with no warning that was the price. We waited 20 minutes for our waters & beer, then ordered a pizza and a burger. The burger was about the level of an In-and-out burger and the pizza was nearly half crust and thin on the toppings. When the check came, we asked about having the beer price adjusted to what we'd seen listed and was told we would have to speak to a manager. After waiting 10 minutes with no manager in sight we left cash for the bill and left - no more our wasting time. I know this is a tourist town but find a better option. read more
