This is a modern well-run and very cool concept brewery. But the problem is the beer doesn't match all the razzmatazz. We got a flight of all the beers they offer and the pail was okay and everything else was so so to some of them were kind of ew. We got a loaded fry appetizer with an egg on it and for the price they're just wasn't enough fries as well as it made the presentation look weird on the big tray with only 40% of it covered. The green salad was okay. The beer pretzel with the everything bagel seasoning on it was quite the highlight. If you like a beer pretzel definitely try that at this place. The bathrooms were in great shape and there's plenty of parking out front. read more

Cool little brewery spot. They have a variety of beers that are okay. Nothing really stood out to me (I got their flight). I had their basil pizza and my husband got their fried chicken sandwich, and I totally wish I would've gotten what he ordered. I tried a bite of his and it was delicious. Not too much batter, and the chicken was perfectly juicy. Their pickles are also house made and sweet and spicy. Now for my pizza, I definitely feel like it wasn't worth the price. I'm certain we had food at the campground but why make a backpacking meal when you can eat in town? Don't answer that... Anyway, I think the reality is we needed a cold brewski after our less-than-ideal kayaking tour with Miller's Landing and therefore we found ourselves at Seward Brewing Company in early July of 2019. I loved the aesthetics/environment in this brewery and the local decor. The beer was good and the service was great! Unfortunately I had my eyes on a dish I saw in some Yelp pictures but it seems as though the menu changes seasonally/yearly/who knows so that was a little disappointing. I got a salmon burger instead (pretty good) and my dad opted for a salad (weird, I know). Anyway, the prices were indicative of a tourist spot, I wish they were a bit more reasonable. Super yummy food, great service and very prompt. Surprisingly lots of dinner choice in Seward, even with COVID, but we chose this place because of the proximity to good parking. We were quickly seated. I chose the sweet potato and quinoa tacos (delicious, fresh, excellent mix of flavors), kids chose fish and chips, fries and kids Mac and cheese. We also started with a pretzel and cheese. THAT was the best part of the meal. Great texture and great beer/cheese dip! We all enjoyed and could've eaten another. We stopped here while in Seward camping for the weekend. There was a line wrapped around the building when they first opened- I think it was 3pm on Saturday. They are very popular. We got seated at the bar and didn't have to wait long. The bar tender was just non stop pouring and pouring and checking in on everyone at the bar. We got a flight to try different ones but they have pre made flights- only the right side of the menu you could get one. Why? Most places you pick what you want it's not that hard. They also had some attitude on their menu kind of sassy vibes. I feel like half craft breweries in Alaska have a big ego and the other half do the same good job just nicer. Unreasonably Expensive & Arrogant Customer Service Some Great beer or so I hear. The place looks so modern and inviting. The front doors are simply stunning. However - nothing else is. The menu is very limited and it is hard to get past the prices. The product is not at all special or tasty. My pizza was gummy in the middle with toppings barely recognizable. As I walked in there was a small sign off to the side & a little behind the front counter. It said "Wait to be Seated". But after a few minutes and checks of the old Apple Watch to check my blood oxygen (nothing else to do) I went in search of a staff person. After all, they had only been open 20 minutes - should have wait staff available I reasoned. Wrong. Then a host came literally charging past me to a large party coming threw the front door in back of me. I spun around to try to get the charging persons attention. The lead person coming threw the door pointed to me and said " I think she was here first" to which the charging person looked around, saw me and my friend standing there - told us "'Someone will be with you in a moment". Then gathered the party of 10 together, led them right past us, (never even excusing herself), and up the stairs. My friend wanted to leave but I wanted to stay so I could do a review on more than the front door and hostess. A new person did immediately appear to search her book and then seated us. Our waiter was in a hurry but did suggest a nice beer. It was not that memorable but decent. My friend got a dark beer and enjoyed it. This is a tough one to review. The beer was good, but our server never came back to ask if we wanted a refill or how things were since we also ordered a flight to try our their beers. When it came time for us to leave (since we never got a another beer), we went to the bar for our bill he bartender informed us that only the server can give us a bill. I had to prompt the bartender to locate our server. It seems like there is no customer service here. Our waitress was located and even grabbing the bill took her forever. I would understand if the place was busy but there were 8 people in there and most of them were seated at the bar. Also, the waitress wasn't the only waitress. The place itself also smells like old cigarette smoke and the odour is very strong. That also made my rating lower. Price wise it was decent. I love discovering new variations. These are excellent. The fresh cod tacos at Seward Brewing are definitely in my top 3. Lightly battered, perfectly fried, with purple cabbage, delicious sauce, and- CRISPY/CRUNCHY blackened KALE on top. Broiled? Fried? Whatever, it was perfect way to eat kale, salty and crunchy. My teenager even liked it. The rest of my crew got fish and chips, they were equally as happy with their meals. Skip the 1plus hour wait at other Seward eateries and check out Seward Brewing. This restaurant is a wanna be ale house. I say wanna be because it doesn't quit get there. It's very touristy and that keeps it pretty busy. Most menu items are rather price for bar food. We had fish tacos. They were tasty and had crunchy kale on top. The atmosphere was trying to be industrial or barn themed but the lighting was 70's fluorescence. There is a large bar taking up the center of the room. Most of the table line the side of the building tightly next to each other so you are basically eating with strangers. There is another part of the restaurant upstairs that only serves pizza. We didn't go up there so cannot comment. Except that it's strange that would have 2 different menus upstairs and downstairs. read more

I usually love it here when I visit, haven't had a group of 6 until yesterday. I noticed the auto gratuity for groups of 6 or more on the menu. But I was pretty disappointed with service and being slapped with auto grat. 3 were kids that didn't get drinks, 2 adults didn't get drinks, the 3 kids shared one pizza. Water was only refilled when we asked. The menu items are typical costal town prices which racks up a bill fast. So to say I need to tip $22 on a few plates and a cider. Meh read more

I fully get AK tourism related businesses only have 2-3 months to cover their annual overhead and therefore must charge more than elsewhere. HOWEVER, Seward Brewery is totally taking the piss with their $24 so called "14 inch" pizza. There was near zero sauce and cheese and was more than half dough/crust. This is not isolated as it was true of all three pies delivered to our table. I reconstructed the crust for the photo and to show to the waiter who was pretty much a no show at our table for when he would inevitably return. When I expressed my unhappiness there was a barely perceptible "sorry" and that was it. No further comment on the matter acting as if our exchange never happened. The waiter could not have cared less. No di minimis adjustment to the bill, no comp of anything to our table like a coke or an offer of even a coffee on the house. No - he just ignored what I said and waited for his tip. I rarely write negative reviews but the pie and the indifferent attitude has really pissed me off. My recommendation is that everyone should AVOID SEWARD BREWERY AND LOOK ELSEWHERE. Consider the Flamingo Lounge which was absolutely great. Or, if you really want pizza in downtown, go to Apollo. read more

We stopped at Seward Brewing for lunch/dinner and it was a total blast. Between the fun metal art and the welcoming employees. They were really busy so we had to wait which wasn't a big deal especially with the limited hours of operations many restaurants are having. The wait time allowed us to look around at the different stickers and shirts they sold. Upon being seated our waitress was extremely attentive. I ordered the rockfish red ale which was pretty good it tasted like any average red ale in my opinion. Overall it was a good experience the only reason it's getting 4 stars is because the beer selection was very small but that's just being picky. From the outside, Seward Brewing Company looks right, like the kind of place I'd want to go. We actually went twice during our visit to Seward. The first time was on Saturday night. It was quite crowded but we were seated in a reasonable amount of time. The server didn't seem to be that into things but it was fine because we got our food and were able to order a second round of beers. We were wildly unimpressed by the beer. El Jefeweizen Chile Wheat was particularly not great, but at least they are honest about it and warn you before you order it. Japow (Japanese Style Lager) was the least offensive of the beers we tried. The cauliflower (fried with sweet shoyu sauce) was a highlight. The soba was also fine. The burger was just ok, although the pretzel bun was intruiging. We came back for a second try. It was less crowded because it wasn't Saturday night. It was a different host (this time a woman) than the first night and she said the strangest thing as she sat us: "Just a reminder that no outside food can be consumed inside." This was a really weird thing to say and we were very confused as to why she felt like she needed to say this to us. We questioned our appearance. Does she say that to everyone? This place has the feel of a rather sanitary unauthentic "chain" restaurant trying to fit in with a small alaskan tourist town that prides itself on authenticity. One of the biggest restaurants in town with so-so beer and so-so food. But it's clean and certainly not anything like some of the more salty drinking establishments on 4th Street. I stopped by here earlier today with my father for dinner. Whenever we arrived at Seward Brewing the place was packed and we were told it would be a 5-10 minute wait. After waiting only a few minutes, our name was called and we were taken to a high top table in the bar area. The inside of Seward brewing is quite large and from what I understand, they have an upstairs as well as a downstairs with different menus. Since I was only downstairs, that's the only one I can comment on. Whenever you first walk through the door they have a little area near the host/hostess station where they are selling their merchandise. Behind that is a dining room and then at the back is a bar on the other side. Behind the bar are wooden boards with their classic beers and then a second set with guest taps. The only other decoration that I noticed in here was a huge halibut on a wall behind the bar. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to try a flight here. Our waitress told us that it was comprised of their 6 classic beers and I would later find out that it cost $12. It consisted of the Japow! (Japanese Style White Beer), El Jefeweizen (roasted chile hefeweizen), Summer School (Session IPA), dark slide (DIPa), TK-421 (Imperial Stout) and a Sharkbelly White (white Ale). Out of the bunch it was the darkslide that was my favorite as it had a good hoppy taste and I never would have guessed it's ABV. I also enjoyed that they tried some different beer styles like the roasted chile hefeweizen which really did taste like roasted chiles but without the spice. There was also the Japow! which was so lightly colored that it almost looked clear and yet still tasted good. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the Yard Bird while my father went with the Mac's Meat. The menu described the Yard bird as fried chicken, house pickle, slaw, brioche bun, Sakura sauce and a side of fries while the macs meat was described as ribeye steak, caramelized onion, Gorgonzola, asiago roll, beef juice and fries. Both my father and I thought that the fries here were really good. They were crispy on the outside while hot and soft on the inside. As for my sandwich, it was really good too. The chicken was super crispy while the slaw and the house pickle added some flavoring and acidity respectively. As for the Sakura sauce, I don't think that I know what it was and neither did I taste it. My father let me try some of his sandwich too and I thought it was really good. The beef was tender and juicy while the onions had a nice sweet flavor to them and the blue cheese had a flavor which I love. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my father and I enjoyed our dinners and I thought that their beer was good as well! read more

Hubs and I took our 18YO to Seward for a next day charter and needed some grub after the 2 1/2 hour drive. Hubs drove so he really wanted a beer after we settled into our hotel room. SBC was just a block away from our hotel (we have always stayed here; for years) so we walked over. Glad we did! Masks on upon entry, no problem. We were seated right away, our server was on it! She had our drink orders brought to us quick and it was just the right amount of time. Food was brought out timely also. Hubs and daughter had fish and chips, two thumbs up from both of them. I wasn't as hungry so I just had the Caesar salad with added grilled chicken. It was pretty good, the chicken had a little kick. My husband had the El Jefeweizen, it was really yummy! I just had the Sauvignon Blanc they had, I have know idea what it was, don't care. I was a bit dismayed at the customers pawing through the merchandise when it was clearly signed to get help from an employee. People are clueless. Let's start with the atmosphere. Loved the look of the restaurant area. Very trendy industrial look to it. The have a huge metal halibut hanging up. Their beer tappers are some of the most unique that I have ever seen. Great vibe. We decided to sit up at the bar, and the bartender was a little slow initially getting to us, but was very efficient after that. Not too engaging, but we got our drinks and food served in a timely manner so cannot complain there. They were fairly busy for lunchtime on the day we dined. The beer is really good. Great flavors, and loved the creative names. The pinbone IPA was awesome. We started with a flight of 4 to taste what they had to offer. Besides their own brews, they offer selections from other Alaskan breweries. The food was pretty good. It is definitely pub fare, but they work to put a unique spin on it. So set your foodie expectations to that margin. As we are in Seward the pricing is a bit higher so the value is a little less then what it might be in other areas. Portion sizes were decent for the price. We started with the deviled eggs at the time (last summer--end of August--little late getting to this review sorry) they had a different preparation every day. The appetizer came with 6 egg halves, and our preparation had crab, chives, and the egg yolks were whipped with wasabi. It was a very different preparation of your traditional deviled egg, and it was enjoyable. For entrees I ordered the reindeer dog, and my husband ordered the chowdah. The reindeer dog had good flavor, and was prepared well. The chips that it came with were boring, and lacked flavor so maybe reconsider the side dish to something a bit different. The chowdah had nice flavor. The broth was a little thinner then one would expect, but it still tasted decent. The only problem I would say was there were not a ton of fish chunks in it, which was slightly disappointing especially for the price. But, overall it was well prepared just maybe add some more seafood. I was conflicted as to what "star rating" to give this location. I would say a solid 3.5 stars. I bumped it to 4 because I really enjoyed the beer experience. I would come back to try some other menu items like the hangover homies, cheesus, and chocolate salty balls. This place is hopping! The atmosphere is nice -- bright and modern, but with the warmth of a lot of wood, and decor such as snowboards from different time periods. The brews are not super exotic or unique -- mostly standard types -- but they are quite decent. And the food is excellent. We had a duck pizza (special of the day) with caramelized onions, spinach, and brie... it was delicious, but could have used a bit more duck meat on it.
