We loved Zudys! Located at the Water front park in Seward, it's housed in an historic railway station. Cute eaterie with a good assortment of sandwiches, soups, and salads. Sandwiches are definitely shareable! We didn't try the desserts but they had a good choice of cheesecakes and cakes. Order at the counter and they bring you the food at your table. For the amount of business they do, the food came out very quickly. They also have outdoor seating.

Zudy's Cafe is a delightful find in a hideaway town at the top of Resurrection Bay, off of the Gulf of Alaska. The pleasant and prompt service delivered appetizing fare in a rustic, down home type of cafe' that is very welcoming to outsiders and locals alike. Decorated with art for sale by local artists this gem is an unintentional gallery that also serves food. My party enjoyed; a Belgian Waffle, the Breakfast Platter featuring; Reindeer Sausages, eggs, sourdough bread and potatoes, and The Salmon and Eggs featuring; smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, on sourdough toast with sprouts and a chili sauce. All food was prepared quickly and expertly, served hot and bursting with flavor. Price-wise, Zudy's is on par with other Alaskan eateries, which is to say pricey compared to the lower 48. Be prepared to pay $20.00+ PP for breakfast meals. On a brisk Alaskan morning in Seward, AK, Zudy's Cafe receives my highest and hearty recommendation.

Great breakfast spot with amazing outdoor views! Food was solid, but the real star is the scenery perfect place to start the day. Sweet restaurant pup outside :)

We were greeted with friendly smiles as we entered this quaint cafe. My spinach salad was delicious. Exceptional service, a delicious menu at a fair price is what we found. It's clean and inviting. Eclectic artwork hands through the cafe as well as artwork for sale, jewelry and fresh made baked goods. A true gem in Seward, AK

The panini sandwich was really yummy and warm to the soul. They sell it with a side a side of chips and aioli. You order at the counter (to go or for here) and they'll serve it to your table. It's self serve water, napkins, and utensils as well. This little restaurant is really cute and the vibes remind of me of a grandma's house.

Tiny little cafe with really good soup and sandwiches or panini's. Ordered the Oakie and roasted chicken soup. The Oakie comes with Bacon Gouda, havarti onions and apples so good. The soup just what the Dr ordered with the cool weather. Just may need to wait a few minutes for a table as it's so tiny inside. Friendly service and you have to clear your own tables.

A truly Alaskan experience! Sandwiches and desserts with a view of the water. Venue is a former railroad depot. Service is efficient and friendly. Handmade items for sale. Don't miss Zudy's for lunch!

    Gorgeous view, scrumptious food!!

Beautiful view and delicious food!! Great start to our cruise! The brownie and cookie was amazing!

First this place deserves the great reviews. The only reason for deducting a star is because there is no organization around seat assignment - basically if you put something on the table without ordering you get that table - however if you ask - they say please order first. We followed the direction and let's just say - we had to vigilantly claim a table a messy table and clean ourselves. Not what I was expecting and better service could have made my experience 5-star. The food was great (sandwiches), yet, the donut muffin and banana bread is where they stand out. And boy do they ever. The banana bread is the best I've had. Not overly moist, great balance of flavors and a little espresso and chocolate. Amazing. The muffin donut was another level, the star of the show. Frankly it is going to make me miss this place and will have me craving more. Thanks for the great meal!

In the old railroad building - a building that survived the 1964 earthquake and Tsunami by the way - we stopped in for lunch. BLT, Roast Beef and Cheese, Chicken soup and Van sandwich. All amazing tasting and the service was great. Right on the water the views are great - and there is no doubt it is crowded in summer ! Our April visit was full and busy and IS definitely worth the stop when here.

On the walls hung artwork by Alaskan artists. Had great views of the mountains while dining. Service was great. Our server knew the menu very well and answered all our questions. Food was very good. They were all presented and arranged carefully and were very visually appealing. Alaskan salmon was Japanese inspired with contrasting textures of crunchy breaded broccolini and soft carrots and potatoes, aioli glaze and unagi sauce. Halibut sandwich had generous parts of the fish. It had rosemary flavor with little kick. The veggies had some sweet flavor in them. Summertime cake was soft pound cake with strawberry sauce and candied orange. Good for sharing. Because our experience was very good, we went back the following morning for breakfast. Breakfast buffet was offered. American breakfast was hearty. It had two eggs, yummy potatoes, sausage (or bacon), and toast. Eggs benedict was good too. Our server Alma was friendly. We had great experience here - food, ambiance, and service.

I got the halibut and loved it--perfectly cooked, super meaty, tender, and flavorful. The mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts on the side were also delicious. My husband had the sockeye salmon with rice and Brussels sprouts. He really enjoyed it, though I wasn't a big fan of the rice. Our server was super friendly too and we loved the "high-end" ambiance. Perhaps it's considered a fine dining?

This hotel was by far the worst place that we had stayed on our trip to alaska out of all seven locations. You check in at the restaurant.Although we had to go into the bar to find somebody to check us in and get us a key to the room. The guy was really nice. That checked us in and the price was right. Unfortunately, that was where the good things ended did. The place is clearly very dated, which is totally fine. There are random holes all along the wall, where it looks like other things used to be. Our friends were staying in the room next to us and their carpet was absolutely disgusting. Thankfully, we had some sort of vinyl on our floors. So that it wasn't that bad. Her bedding had multiple tears in it. Nothing in the room matched from the towels to the sheets. When we pulled back the sheets of the bed, there were little specks of what looked like dirt all along the bed, and it appeared that the sheets had not been cleaned. Thankfully, we had each brought a blanket. So we were able to use that to sleep with. It really, truly did feel dirty though sleeping in that bed. We only had two towels in our room for 4 people, so my husband went and asked for another. The only thing that they could give him was an extra hand towel. When I turned on the shower, the way that the shower head was facing the water, just completely shot right out of the shower stall leaving water all over the floor and no good towels to clean it up.

Then some new owners took over, and i was served limp and floppy fries and we didn't go back. Although of course I appreciate they may have had teething problems, as new owners, and that we'd go back at a later date. And we did return today. Our server was friendly, and helpful, brought us coffee, in sturdy Sunrise Inn mugs, and took our order (Crispy Chicken wrap and fries for me, Chili in Bread bowl for him) The atmosphere was warm and friendly, with quite a few diners in, chatting to the server. Guys, the Crispy Chicken Wrap brought to me, was simply outstanding. Perfect in every way. Great mix of crunchy vegetables, cheese, and creamy ranch, i cannot praise it enough. It's the best I've personally tasted, in, well, ever really. And the fries have redeemed themselves 1000%. Super crisp, and soft inside, beautifully seasoned. I am so happy that Sunrise Inn is THIS good. I'll be driving back down just to have this again, and think nothing of the drive. Blake really enjoyed his Chili Bread Bowl too. Seriously, if i can get food this good i don't really care about the cost, or the length of the drive to get to it. But yes of course it would be more convenient if it were in Anchorage, but the drive is half the fun. Also the staff - the server was great, very friendly, and the chef brought out our meals to us, and he had these pants on featuring fish. Very alluring, and I told him so. We'll be back sooner rather than later

Further there are a couple of easy, scenic walks on the property. A 1 mile fairly flat nature trail through a wooded area and a 1-2 mile walk to and along the river, also fairly flat (albeit there is a hill with a phone at the bottom, Princess will send a shuttle to retrieve you). We used it as a base for walking the Russian River and Russian Lakes trail (to the first lake), both highly recommended. With more time we would have headed to Juneau Falls...there are a ton of hikes in the area, all which sound tremendous. Could also be used as a base for Seward and exploring the Exit Glacier/Harding Icefield hikes. Have fun! Oh. The rooms. Kinda rustic but clean and spacious, a wood burning stove and TV (used neither), balcony, and very importantly a laundry. Which we made good use of. Check in. We arrived at ~1:30 and lying in wait was a sugary sweet desk clerk who *very* sweetly and in no uncertain terms told us that check in was 3PM. The only thing missing was a "Bless your Heart".
