We stopped in today on the way back from Homer. We knew they had been up for sale for some time,…read moreand our server confirmed it was now under new management. The menu was different but I was happy to see they still had the chicken wrap on there. It went downhill from then. I asked for a Gold Medal Chicken Wrap, with crispy chicken (ranch was not an option, previously it was my go-to choice) you could have hot wings sauces, or honey BBQ - and this is my bad, I initially thought that it said honey mustard, so I said honey mustard. It came with a choice of tater tots onion rings or fries. I chose tater tots, but changed my mind to fries. Husband just ordered a piece of carrot cake. I was very disappointed with this wrap, not just in comparison to the wrap that used to be available, but just as a wrap being offered by a restaurant in general. The honey bbq sauce (I had asked for some on the side, to dip it into) was red. And I couldn't taste any BBQ smokiness. It was very tomatoey. I queried about my honey-mustard error, and she showed me the menu, and that mistake was definitely on me. I asked if she had some ranch I could use as a dip, and was brought some. So anyway, the wrap - loosely wrapped and quite floppy, and warm, as though it had been grilled or broiled, which rendered the lettuce leaf and tomato slice warm, limp and floppy. The previous wrap from Sunrise, and most other wraps in restaurants where I've had them, will serve an unwarmed tortilla with raw crunchy vegetables. The Sunrise previously did so - lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced red onion, shredded cheese, julienned carrots and crispy chicken in a cool creamy ranch dressing, it was a tightly wrapped, crunchy delight, and out of this world. I recommended it to anyone passing that way. The best thing I have to say about this one, is that there was plenty of chicken and it was tender. There was too much of the honey bbq sauce in it though, and the chicken wasn't crispy anymore, the breading had gone very soggy. It was a disappointment. As were the tater tots, when I had requested fries. The server was pleasant enough, and I tipped her well, but I wasn't happy with the food at all. Won't be returning anytime soon

Everything is setup well and is situated in a great location! Unfortunately, service was awful! We ordered quickly and paid our tab up front ($60 for two chicken sandwiches and a basket of fries - including voluntary 18% tip, but not full-service dining). They gave us a pager and we found seats. Over the next 30 minutes we saw everyone getting food but us. I finally asked the status (politely) and got a seemingly annoyed response. I was told our order was next in line. I waited another 10 minutes and saw 3 more people served (who ordered way after us). I returned to check again and got a deep sigh and rolling eyes (mind you, it's been over 40 minutes at this point). They checked with their cook and he hadn't even started it. We were headed to airport and needed to get going, so when I pressed for an ETA he grumbled it'd be 5 minutes at most. It took 11 more minutes, which put our total wait at 51 minutes from time of order. We were never offered a discount, refund, or even an apology - VERY disappointing!!! The food was okay - but not worth that wait or frustration. We definitely won't be returning.

We are told that during dinner hours you can actually order from this menu as well to the bar and Grill so keep that in mind if you can't get a reservation here. They're only 160 rooms and apparently this place is very popular so I would call an advance before you arrive and arrange your reservations The menu is creative and includes a couple items like the halibut, and the salmon that are certified Alaskan and giving you the area of fishing where it was caught My husband ordered the chorizo and queso appetizer as well as the halibut and I ordered salmon chowder, and salmon because of course I'm in Alaska and I must have salmon every day. The queso dip was odd, a bit greasy and had a weird texture. My salmon chowder was excellent. The halibut was the star of the show and we can highly recommend this dish, my sockeye salmon was also pretty good but I'm glad she recommended that I have the sauce on the side as that was not my favorite. The mushroom risotto was also fantastic. Service from our waitress, Gerri was excellent although the kitchen was quite backed up tonight, so it was a pretty slow service This 'is' the breakfast spot for the hotel; so we popped in after the buffet was over as we wanted a quiet brunch like experience. Husband ordered the corned beef hash and I had a ham and cheese omelette. Excellent service, excellent food and don't forget - they KNOW how to make excellent sourdough bread in Alaska! Rachel was our server for dinner the second night and was great with excellent recommendations. I had the Halibut this time and my husband ordered the ribeye. Excellent dinner- all covered by our vouchers! Carrie has served us for breakfast and dinner as well, and she always has creative suggestions like last night she suggested the vegetarian hot pot but to add a piece of halibut onto it and it was absolutely amazing! Both the food and the staff in this restaurant have been top-notch!!

Their Crepe Compote Maison was light and flavorful while their Crepe Boeuf Passion had a bit more punch with the creamy beef. Both were equally delicious, just depends on what you're more in the mood for. They also have an impressive hot tea selection served steeped in a teapot. Tried a different one each of the days - both great starts to the morning. Such a cozy, homey feel inside. I was really disappointed in the food though - I got chips and salsa because I wasn't that hungry. The chips didn't come with any dipping sauce (for 7 bucks, it seems like it should) - that was charged separately, for an additional 3 bucks. Okay fine --- I had a craving so was willing to pay it... but then it arrived - 15 chips and the tiniest dressing-sized container of salsa... for $10?! Just nuts. The chips are supposedly "house made," but lacked any flavor (needed more seasoning/salt). Just wanted others to avoid my mistake - get something else because this isn't even half an appetizer.
