My friends and I came here for gelato after dinner. They let you try two flavors so I sampled the taro with cookies and the strawberry matcha. The smallest size, the baby bear, comes with two flavors so I went with those. I liked the strawberry matcha but the taro with cookies was really good and I probably should have just gotten that flavor. Bought some fudge from this nice little shop in Seward. Obviously prices are going to be high 1) it's a small town, 2) middle of tourist season. They have gourmet chocolates, fudge and gelato that are all made in-house. They also serve coffee drinks. Came here for the gelato/sorbets and it was fantastic. Tons of great tropical flavors. I especially liked the guapa (guava and papaya) and the lychee. The pineapple was also very good as was the passion fruit. Never had trouble finding street parking nearby. Great place to get dessert. Service was efficient and fine. The gelato is the best I've ever had, with a selection of flavors that changes daily. The fudge is to die for & chocolate pieces are equally tempting with so many flavors to choose from. They also have a small selection of unique gifts (puzzles, mugs, bookmarks,etc) that make the perfect quality souvenir. Nothing like our previous experience. The fudge was a HUGE disappointment. It was not gritty, smooth yes, but in the WRONG way. It had the texture of new play dough. I'd bet money that it had filler of some kind in it. It literally was lacking in the chocolately, buttery flavor you expect in fudge. TRULY BIZZARE. Clearly something has changed. Super cute sweet treat shop in Seward! They have all kinds of stuff....Kombucha, decadent chocolates, candies, gelato, sorbet! I was super excited that they had sorbet. I can't have dairy. So, I did the Mama Bear of Pomegranate and Lemon sorbets. This was the perfect sweet ending to a fun filled day. I'm still catching up on reviews of the *many* great places we stopped at on our "2020" Alaska cruise (that got moved to 2021 and then to 2022 due to covid) that ended in Seward, last summer. I'm not completely sure how I failed to find such a highly-rated gelato shop in my pre-cruise research about Seward... normally craft ice cream shops are among the things I would look for before visiting a new town. In any case, Seward being a small town, I stumbled on it easily enough when we arrived there, and had to stop in. Only real complaint is that they only let you try tastes of two things, cause everything looked great. When I saw they had both lychee *and* ube, though I had to get those together. Though this was a few months ago, I wouldn't be surprised if the flavors now were totally different, but just in case they haven't... I'm a huge fan of both lychee and ube, they did both perfectly, and they're a fantastic combo! I'm kind of a snob about craft ice cream quality, as we have a similar quality shop down the street from us, so I can confirm, the ice cream here is as good as Long Beach Creamery, and that's high praise! (It was funny though, the label on the ube ice cream was "sweet yam" - when I asked what that meant, they said it was ube, but that people in Alaska don't know what ube is yet, haha. Meanwhile in Long Beach, ube is *everywhere* right now, and for good reason, cause it's great!) Was $5.50 for a "small" 2-scoop - you can get a "child" size for less, but only one flavor, and where's the fun in only one flavor? The "small" is a pretty good amount for one person, though. Not "cheap", but totally reasonably priced for the quality. Melted pretty quickly in the weirdly-warm Alaska weather of this past summer, though, so if I'd been smarter, I would've grabbed a couple more napkins! They also have a number of other desserts that all looked good, including a number of *very* reasonably priced truffles (at the time, at least, they were ~$1.35 each). Originally I just tried one - didn't really need a truffle on top of ice cream, but they had a whiskey chocolate, so I had to try it (it was great). Then I had to stop by the following day before we left to try a couple more, and they were great, too (the lavender one was particularly excellent.) They also have pretty good kombucha on draft for $5 if you're looking for something just as tasty but not nearly as sugary, haha. (Though I'm also turning into a kombucha snob - the kombucha wasn't quite as good as the truffles or ice cream. Still good though!) Anyway, if I were back in Seward (hopefully on another cruise!), for sure this is a place I would come back to. (Actually, thinking about it, if Wild Spoon happened to still be there, and still didn't have any good drinks, I'd probably at least come here for a craft kombucha to take down the street to Wild Spoon. :p Probably would have to come back for truffles and/or ice cream, too, though.) read more

Sweet Darlings has been a regular stop for us in Seward for many years. In the last year, the original owners have also taken over again, which is so nice to see. We love that you can get small or large portions, whatever your heart and sweet tooth desires. This trip was a one pound trip and three different kinds of fudge, along with a latte and americano, both without sweetener! No need to sweeten when you have fudge! We went for Mount Marathon, Coconut and Caramel Nut this trip. Mount Marathon is a staple flavor and HIGHLY recommended... Coconut was awesome; having a thick layer of creamed coconut sandwiched between two layers of fudge and then there was the caramel nut... thick layers of Carmel and peanuts inside chocolate fudge. Holy moly all were wonderful. I find it unlikely that they wouldn't have a flavor you'd love! Sweet Darlings also has an ice cream case, homemade chocolates and saltwater taffy!! Desperately needing to use the restroom but with limited options available, we found ourselves at Sweet Darling's. The owner was kind enough to let us use their restroom and since I have an insatiable sweet tooth, this could not have been a more serendipitous event. They offer a wonderful variety of chocolates, fudge, and other delicious confections. We ended up purchasing a pound and a half of salt water taffy in a variety of flavors and several individual pieces of both milk and dark chocolate. My favorite by far were the dark chocolate sea salt and the dark chocolate salted caramel. The prices were fair and the quality of confections was tremendous! Be warned, most of the bubble *milk tea* does not actually have tea. For example, I had the brown sugar "milk tea" but as soon as I got it, I knew it was just brown sugar milk. I've been burned by this in past and am usually careful about checking to see if it has actual tea in it but alas, it didn't.
