In a small town that struggles to survive through the long winter like Seward, this shop does something remarkable. They also sell Native Made goods CHEAPER THAN ANCHORAGE. I am an advocate of selling as much local, native made goods as possible. I had a conversation with the buyer at the store and he was telling me with each passing year there are less native carvers and artists because elders are passing away. They have some incredible pieces of art in the store. For people that don't have large sums of money to invest in art pieces, they have some local pieces of jewelry, Alaska themed shirts and hats, stickers, mugs, magnets, books and cook books, etc. They have also have a whole aisle of toys for out-of-towners who are desperate to satisfy a whiny kiddo during a trip. They even have ponchos, backpacks, umbrellas and other immediate need items that are often very hard to find in a town this size. Honestly, don't judge and book by its cover. This place has you covered.

The view is absolutely worth the trip up, and the Roundhouse has a really lovely viewing balcony wrapping around the whole building. It feels a bit like you're in a rough treehouse or loft in the middle of the mountains (despite the hulking ski buildings in the back). In terms of wares, the Roundhouse carries indigenous style jewelry, postcards, enamel pins, plushies, and much more depending on what your touristy self is looking for. Prices are a bit higher, but there is something for every budget, from post cards to one-of-a-kind hand-blown glass artwork. The museum aspect of Roundhouse consists of a diorama in the middle of the building, a timeline wrapping around the ceiling inside, and a few documentaries on TV display. If I remember correctly, there's also a display of traditional ski wear within the building. If you're in need of a keepsake and some information on local lore, I would recommend coming here for a glance around.
