This is an abolutely wonderful store in the epicenter of historic Seward. The owners, Cliff and Linda wove into this already epic landmark their magic for transforming it into a place of everchanging charm and delight. I have found treasures of all kinds here, from alaskan clothing to collectables and local alaskan art arts and wares. I have been to many places where the inventory seems to never change; this is not the case here. I have been to this location many times and they are always bringing in new inventory. They actively seek out new artists and sponsor different artists by hosting several different artists of the month. Their associates are delightful and know their merchandice and the artisans behind them. They are friendly but also respectul in letting you explore the inventory. The most wonderful thing I have witnessed however, is the commity support rhis wonderful couple generates within the area for the local businesses, occupants- people and animals alike. These are good people, these are rare people, and I don't know any establishments like them. Seward is a MUST see for Alaska, and this is a lively store that you won't want to miss. Living in a small tourist town, it can be challenging to find gifts for local family that doesn't say "Alaska" or look touristy. Brown & Hawkins removes that problem. I was pleased to find really nice gifts for my grandchildren there -- nice quality, reasonably priced. But it's not limited to children, they have something for everyone there. I appreciate that many of their items are good quality, eco-conscious, and unique. The sales staff is always very pleasant and helpful as well. In addition to that, the owners of Brown & Hawkins have rekindled activity to the downtown area of Seward. They often host events that feature local artisans, assist local non-profits, and offer space for small businesses to highlight their goods. There's always something new happening there. read more

This business is truly wonderful! There is a piece of something for everyone! You can find plenty of local and small business souvenirs while gazing at the marvelous handcrafted artwork on the walls and beautiful Alaskan scenic photos! The store is so large that you won't have plenty of options from clothing to books, kids toys, seasonal items, and more! The best part.. no need to worry about space saving in your suitcase! They ship directly to your home! I purchased 2 beautiful scenic Alaskan photos and they ordered them in the size I wanted and shipped to my house and it arrived about 4 days after I had gotten home from my trip! Wonderful staff, highly recommend this location for anyone stopping through the Seward area! read more

I love going to this store to look for gifts and maybe even a little something for myself. I can find baby gifts, stuff for the home, practical things like ice grippers and shoe dryers, and from price points that would fit any budget. My daughter is away at school so I try to send fun cards to her and B&H has an array of cards, stickers, Alaska treats, and other great college care package material. One of the best things about B&H is that the owners care about Seward and have an awesome marketing campaign that brings business to our small town during the winter season. They like to feature local Alaskan artists and small vendors in their store and who doesn't feel good supporting that?! read more

I've attended a few of the special events that Brown and Hawkins has hosted locally in Seward. One of which was a gallery opening for Dawn Gerety and James Minden. They had delicious sushi bites from a local restaurant as well as treats and hot beverages to stave away the cold snow outside. My family and friends always find something neat to purchase when we are there. read more
