Best halibut, salmon, and tanner crab legs I've had in my life!…read more The Gold Pan was a splurge, but for seafood this good, it was worth it. I asked if they could grill the halibut instead of frying it, and I'm so glad I did. I'd seen a review calling it the best halibut they'd ever had, which definitely got my attention. Now I can see why. It was fresh, flaky, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The tanner crab legs were sweet, meaty, and incredibly fresh. The seafood chowder was really good too, with plenty of clams and lots of flavor. Coming from the San Francisco area, I'm used to chowder being much creamier and heavier. This one was lighter, which I actually preferred because the seafood flavor came through more. We also had the Tuscan salmon, which was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. Everything really stood out for how fresh and well prepared they were. Service was excellent. Our server was thoughtful, courteous, and efficient, and the restaurant itself was clean, bright, and comfortable. Gold Rush Bistro ended up being one of our favorite meals in Seward, and I'd definitely come back.

We were seated promptly and brought water and menus. The food is very high quality. My son had the Fire starter burger and I had the Alaskan Sami ( reindeer on Ciabatta roll). Topped off with their jalapeño coleslaw and side of fries. We split the crumble cake dessert ( this was so good it would be worth the drive down simply for it) My son uses a walker and requires ADA accommodations seven though this would normally receive a five star score from me, I score it a four because they have a chain and lock across the entry ramp requiring him to struggle with ducking under it.

Ups and downs... Service is beyond slow. Several tables got up to leave. It's not even that they…read moreare wildly understaffed... there were younger members of staff who wouldn't bring silverware or fill waters while the others were tending tables. There were 3 waitresses, no bartender, and the 3 younger ones that walked around who were supposed to be pouring waters, busing tables, etc. When the waitresses seemingly got tired of tables, they walked back and forth behind the bar without doing anything. It took us nearly an hour to receive our first round of drinks (only one was a mixed cocktail that required effort). Water came about 15 minutes after seating. At the peak, there were about 9 tables in action and three of them left. We had empty drinks nearly the entire time while the waitresses stood in the hall. For the food, the halibut fish and chips were really good and crispy. The halibut bites were awesome with a perfect touch of lemon and herbs. The cod fish and chips were really greasy. The reindeer meatloaf was dry but had a great flavor, so just add ketchup...

All components of the burgers were executed quite well: juicy patty, toasted bun, fresh veggies, nice sauce. The reindeer soup was also good, although bland in terms of salt. Not sure what all the chatter is about!?!?…read more I really wanted to like this place, but all around it was a very poor experience. I'm guessing our waitress was brand new. Not only did she forget our order, but she never checked on us. It's not like she was busy. There were only a handful of people in the restaurant, which should have been a red flag! Only thing worse than the service was the food. I ordered the Smokey burger, but it should have been called the Bland Burger. Our waitress never asked how I wanted it cooked. There's no way that it was done freshly! It came out way too quickly and wasn't even warm. My wife's salad was a joke. What's up with the sticky floors and sticky tables???

I had hiked 9 miles that day and the salad was one of the first things to come out, even starving I barely touched it. Go eat the fish, don't spend a dime on anything else. This menu needs some help they can't decide if they are the local pub or an upscale eatery. Prices show upscale but quality of food outside of the halibut and oysters scream pub food. No cohesion in the menu to a theme as well.

The hot chicken had a pretty mild spice level, so if you're looking for something super spicy, this probably won't blow you away--but it was still packed with flavor. Great spot to refuel after an adventure! My only complaint is that I'm sad they aren't open year-round because I'd definitely be back more often!

We ordered clam chowder bowl, halibut tacos (starter) and cauliflower elotes (starter). They came out in reasonable time consider they had a full house. We were able to eat quickly and catch our bus. Clam chowder had a lot more potatoes than clams. I saw an older photo of the ceviche that seemed to have more food. I guess they changed the portion since that previous reviews posted. Cauliflower was a big portion size for a starter.

We had such a great experience and would definitely recommend Tidewater Taphouse if you're in Seward. You won't be disappointed!

She was an absolute delight, was attentive but not intrusive, helpful, so friendly--and the kind of friendly that seemed sincere, and not just part of the job. She deserves a giant bonus or raise for sure, and her customer care was so incredible that if I lived in Seward I would attempt to lure her away to work for me!! The food was also good; the nicely salted baked potato skins, the great seasonings on the seafood, the prime rib was wonderful. My husband said the salmon was cooked really well and he loved the baked beans. For the price, the captains platter seemed a little scant - but it was cooked well. We will definitely be back to visit Chantal and eat some great food!!
