The restaurant has some lovely old touches, such as the GORGEOUS bar, and many old light fixtures. Service was phenomenal. Wonderful attention to our needs. Now for the food. The menu leaves a lot to be desired. I wish there was a larger variety of salads. However, being that we were next to the ocean in Seward, Alaska, I ordered the fish and chips (halibut) and a bowl of chowder. The halibut was phenomenal. Being an Alaskan I am a picky fish eater, and not all fry is good. This fish fry was crunchy and flavorful. The chowder was yummy. Lots of seafood in it and very creamy. Overall it was delicious.

I tried the chowder bowl, and while it had a nice light, creamy base, it wasn't big on flavor. The seafood portion was decent -- not skimpy, but not overflowing either. It's not one of those chowders that leaves a lasting impression, but it's comforting enough on a cold day. The rockfish/cod was crispy and lightly fried, not too oily, which I appreciated. Flaky inside, well-cooked -- but for the price, I wouldn't have minded an extra piece of fish. A little slaw on the side would've given the dish a much-needed pop or contrast. Again, not bad -- just not super bold in flavor. Same goes for the calamari. My son had the chicken nuggets kids meal... pretty basic. Nothing to rave about, but it did the job. The vibe inside is cozy and laid-back. It's not trying to be fancy, and honestly, I like that. Staff was friendly, and the whole space feels relaxed and welcoming. Portion sizes could be a little more generous for the price, but the menu keeps things simple and familiar. Overall, it's a spot I'd come back to -- maybe for the dinner menu or just when I'm in the mood for easy comfort food. Nothing over-the-top, but sometimes that's exactly what you need.

We took a walk to the waterfront for 15-20 mins and could have easily gotten a drink somewhere or done some window shopping. Everything was really good - starting with salmon gougere amuse bouche, the soup of the day (curry carrot?), and local oysters to the smoked scallop cocktail. The fried chicken, salmon, and shrimp and grits. We ended up ordering the cream cheese ice cream which ended up taking FOREVER since they forgot about it and never checked on us. Unfortunately the cream cheese ice cream was also kinda disappointing and was just like scooped frozen cheesecake - which don't get me wrong is delish but not worth the wait or $. Service was good until the end. Great wine options! Prices on par with SF and presumably Alaska/touristy areas.

The hostesses were warm and friendly. There is good reason why it's popular. The food that comes out of the kitchen is elevated, creative and tasty---worthy of more sophisticated large urban cities. Service was casual, but proficient. We had oysters, which were tiny but full of tastes of the ocean. There was an amuse bouche of a choux filled with salmon cream. It was light and a good start to the meal. The shrimp with grits was artfully presented and tasted good. The cream of mushroom soup was rich and earthy. Fried chicken was a nice take on a simple dish. And the salmon dish was a clear proof of Alaska's rich waters. Loved this special place.

My son ordered the chicken and waffles- he said the waffles were good but the chicken, tho well fried was completely lacking seasoning My partner ordered the buttermilk fried chicken entree with mashed potatoes and he had the same sentiment- no seasoning and also added that it was a boneless chicken thigh, and the texture was also off putting. I ordered the Alfredo pasta with a bay shrimp add on and the clam chowder- both were okay, my main complaints being that my food was lukewarm while the chicken that my son and partner ordered were steaming hot- the chowder was very well seasoned and flavorful- but also very thick and I got a clam that was gritty. Not a terrible place to eat, their hospitality was great... but also idk if I would go back if given the choice. Based on past reviews, we prob should have ordered burgers.

Today I remembered to do all the things including take pictures of my food. I walked in and was seated immediately, I chose to sit at the bar because it's just easier and the chairs all have better cushion. After seeing another patron eating a burger i decided to order one too! Great choice. I had the jalapeño burger with bacon jam and man was it delicious. The burger was a perfect medium well, the brioche bun was perfectly toasted, the white cheddar cheese was the perfect complement to the slightly sweet bacon jam, the bacon was crispy, Smokey and not greasy. The only complaint was the slice of tomato that is out of season and tasteless. I mean it is Alaska after all. My seafood chowder which I paid an additional $4.00 for a cup was okay but whatever, the burger made up for it. All in all it was a great experience and delicious meal. Because it was the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, the place wasn't as packed and noisy as it can be sometimes. The ambiance was super relaxed today so I sat and ate inside. If you are ever in Seward, check this place out.

"Cheap beer & lousy food" is so funny to me, but also untrue! The food is delicious and oh so fresh. Service was great as well. Definitely recommend if you're in the area. It's also nice because it's not in the downtown area, it feels secluded. Plenty of parking available as well. Food review: Salmon bake: (5/5) YUM. I mean, it is the name of the restaurant after all. The salmon is so fresh and is honestly such a big portion. We definitely could've shared between two of us. Crab cakes: (5/5) These were delicious! Such great flavors and texture. The crisp on the crab cake was perfect. The app comes with two crab cakes, but they are pretty big! Complimentary corn bread: (3.5/5) The bread was yummy. I just wish that it came warmed up, it tasted a little dry.
