Great food, clean restaurant and great prices. I would recommend the salsa and chips!

Pretty bad food with a pretty big price tag. Food is gross, disgusting even. My first time spitting out food back into the plate kind of bad. Rice, beans and consommé all warranted an immediate spit back into the container- no swallow to be had. Rice was bland and burnt at the same time. It tasted as if it were white rice tossed into Spanish style color coating. Beans had a strange taste and were completely inedible. As far as tacos go their carne asada was only alright. For two tacos, rice, beans and consommé was incredibly over priced and tacos are only sold in plates of two or three with salsa costing extra money. With a name like Chanchitos it's very disappointing to be served such disgusting food. To call this Mexican food would be a great insult.

I came and ordered 3 carnitas tacos- I asked for no cilantro and she said she doesn't do modifications but it's only a pinch and I can just pick it off! Which I was totally okay with until I got my meal and this is the amount that was on it- not just a pinch! The tacos themselves are prob like a 5/10 for 18 dollars. Just my opinion!

The Quesobirria Taco Plate SLAPPED!!! - (Shoulda gotten a pic ) Seriously, everyone in our party LOVED their food. There was a little covered area that had picnic tables under them, then some uncovered. The parking is super easy too cuz you can just park downtown and walk. 10/10 Highly Recommend

Great portions and so tasty!! We are here from TX and this was great food. Folks who own/run it were so nice. They are from Hawaii and San Diego, here for the summer season.

Rockfish burrito for the win!!!! Amazing spot that is a must try! The owners are so kind and are serving amazing food.

two tacos in a styrofoam container

Good food, nice sized tacos but quite expensive. It was even more than Lone Chich and it was very spicy with the blackened fish. A bit too spicy for me. Cute and clean and worth a try though!

Super fun atmosphere and fun music welcomed us, warmly! As someone who eats gluten-free, I was thrilled that the manager was incredibly knowledgeable and explained that just about the only item that wasn't gluten-free was the beer-battered fish. Talk about having options! We started with the Carne Asada and Carnitas tacos, and they were fantastic. But we couldn't stop there! We came back for a second round (they were just that good!) and tried the Vegetarian Elote tacos... and WOW. Major chef's kiss! It was also such a treat to enjoy authentic Mexican rice without having to second-guess whether it was gluten-free. But my absolute FAVORITE part of the entire experience? The habanero carrot hot sauce! It was unbelievably vibrant, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The perfect balance of sweet carrot and spicy habanero was pure magic, and I may or may not have wanted to take a bottle home with me! If we ever find ourselves back in Seward, The Lone Chicharron will be our very first stop. We already can't wait to go back!

My wife and I both love Halibut and were looking to try some fresh caught, while our cruise ship was docked in Seward. We strolled up town a couple of blocks from the Alaskan Sea-life Center and saw that Gold Rush Bistro had some on their lunch menu and decided to stop in. Surprisingly there was no wait at 12:30 (lunch time) their smiling staff were happy to see us. We were greeted, seated and able to order very quickly. That being said, the place started to fill up pretty fast. As we waited, the lady that was sitting next to us when we sat down, had a god awful amount of perfume on, after a few minutes of choking, we politely as to be moved to another table and were happily accommodated, no hassle at all. I've had Halibut many times in the past, but none have been as delicious as the Garlic Halibut that they serve here. One word, OUTSTANDING!!! The decor inside was beautiful, with a homey wood vibe (see pics). Looking out the front window there was an amazing view of some of the surrounding Mountains. If you find yourself in Seward and are a little tired of the food on your cruise or just happen to be in town for another reason, I would highly recommend Gold Rush Bistro.

My daughter spotted a small seafood restaurant tucked into a corner, so we decided to give it a try. I completely forgot to take photos of the food, but I ordered the halibut--and honestly, it was probably the best halibut I've ever had. Everything we tried was delicious. I noticed a lot of people coming in specifically for the seafood chowder, so I'm guessing that must be amazing too. The employees were friendly, the restaurant was clean, and they even had outdoor seating.

We were hungry and we could choose all the well-known tourist eateries and pay big bucks, or we could go into Alaska Seafood Grill for a more quiet, family-friendly experience. Walking in at 12:40 PM, we saw that we needed to order at the counter and they would bring the food to our table. There were some open tables, so we did not have to wait to be seated. We reviewed the items on the chalkboard menu above the ordering counter. I don't eat seafood, but luckily they offered a BBQ Bacon Burger with fries. My wife ordered seafood chowder. We also ordered a side of onion rings and bought a brownie for later. I found the burger and fries to be very filling and tasty. My wife enjoyed her chowder. We both liked the onion rings, which were NOT greasy at all. The brownie was soft, chocolatey, and VERY good, just the way we like it. The inside of the restaurant is definitely not what you would call a high-end environment. But, it was clean, quiet, functional, bright, and, most importantly, had clean tables and chairs on which to sit. The staff were all very friendly and answered all our questions. There was a man, perhaps he was the manager?, who walked, dressed, and spoke like he would be more at home in Boston instead of Seward. This is NOT a complaint about him, just an observation. We spoke with him and he answered all our questions in a friendly manner. I don't know that we will ever visit Seward again, but if we do we would definitely return to Alaska Seafood Grill for lunch.

That food was mediocre, but at least we did not wait forever. Today it was pouring in Seward, and the one genuinely lovely part of the experience was the window seat. The rainy harbor view was beautiful, and we even saw baby otters while waiting for the food. Service was inconsistent from the start. We were never given table bread, even though every table around us got some, so not sure what happened there. We started with oysters, and they were just okay. Definitely not memorable, and nowhere close to Taylor Shellfish oysters on Chuckanut Drive. For mains, we ordered the halibut fish and chips and the halibut Andaman. Both were disappointing. The halibut was dry and chewy, which was surprising given how expensive it was. I love fish and usually enjoy sea bass and cod, but this did not work for me at all. The Andaman description mentioned fish with rice and vegetables, but it literally came with rice and basically two pieces of broccoli. For the price, that felt almost insulting. Two mains alone were close to $100. Dessert completely finished off whatever goodwill I still had. We ordered ice cream with hot fudge, but it looked like it had been sitting out too long before being served. The fudge was not even warm, and the ice cream was already half melted. Overall, Ray's Waterfront gets points for the harbor view and atmosphere, especially on a cold rainy July Sunday in Seward. But the food was underwhelming, the service felt uneven, and the pricing did not match the quality. Beautiful setting, disappointing meal.
