You can smell the BBQ as you walk up. The seating is picnic tables in an outdoor setting. It makes you feel like you are eating a BBQ meal in someone's backyard. You just walk up to the order counter and pick up your food when it is ready and grab a seat. A couple from Texas started Firebrand BBQ when they moved to Seward. It was nice to find some Texas-style BBQ in this little town. The menu has a number of smoke meats like brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey and pork belly. Sides are the usual sides that go with BBQ like potato salad and cole slaw. I got the Sandwich Combo with Brisket and Cole Slaw for lunch. I loved my meal and enjoyed my time here with my buddies. Firebrand BBQ has some specialty items like Frito Pie and Loaded BBQ Potato on thier menu. They also serve breakfast before 11am. You can pick up a bottle of their BBQ sauce at the order counter.

Our meat of choice was the brisket, which came shredded. Parts were hard and dry and we doused it with their BBQ sauce which is very watery. Tried a bit of my SIL's pork belly which was hard and dry too. We weren't asked if we wanted onions, jalapeños and pickles, and I didn't realize it until we were almost done. They might have balanced out the meat. Oh well. Wanted to order the crab legs, but they just ran out. Cashier said we could check back later since they were de-thawing more. Outdoor seating only.

We took a walk to the waterfront for 15-20 mins and could have easily gotten a drink somewhere or done some window shopping. Everything was really good - starting with salmon gougere amuse bouche, the soup of the day (curry carrot?), and local oysters to the smoked scallop cocktail. The fried chicken, salmon, and shrimp and grits. We ended up ordering the cream cheese ice cream which ended up taking FOREVER since they forgot about it and never checked on us. Unfortunately the cream cheese ice cream was also kinda disappointing and was just like scooped frozen cheesecake - which don't get me wrong is delish but not worth the wait or $. Service was good until the end. Great wine options! Prices on par with SF and presumably Alaska/touristy areas.

The hostesses were warm and friendly. There is good reason why it's popular. The food that comes out of the kitchen is elevated, creative and tasty---worthy of more sophisticated large urban cities. Service was casual, but proficient. We had oysters, which were tiny but full of tastes of the ocean. There was an amuse bouche of a choux filled with salmon cream. It was light and a good start to the meal. The shrimp with grits was artfully presented and tasted good. The cream of mushroom soup was rich and earthy. Fried chicken was a nice take on a simple dish. And the salmon dish was a clear proof of Alaska's rich waters. Loved this special place.
