I was doing work in Alaska with a bunch of guys and we came here to Firebrand BBQ for lunch while enjoying a fun day in Seward. I love how chill this place is. You can smell the BBQ as you walk up. The seating is picnic tables in an outdoor setting. It makes you feel like you are eating a BBQ meal in someone's backyard. You just walk up to the order counter and pick up your food when it is ready and grab a seat. A couple from Texas started Firebrand BBQ when they moved to Seward. It was nice to find some Texas-style BBQ in this little town. The menu has a number of smoke meats like brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey and pork belly. Sides are the usual sides that go with BBQ like potato salad and cole slaw. I got the Sandwich Combo with Brisket and Cole Slaw for lunch. I loved my meal and enjoyed my time here with my buddies. Firebrand BBQ has some specialty items like Frito Pie and Loaded BBQ Potato on thier menu. They also serve breakfast before 11am. My wife and I went to Seward in 05/24/2026 and took the bbq specifically the ribs. The ribs are raw and had been cooked well I couldn't even bite it off. After I complained and showed ribs to manager the manager rudely said look it was finished and it could be bit easily. He behaved impatiently like we were gadflies looking for trouble. We left the bbq claiming this was the worst ever bbq I ever had in US. Man I lived in IN and TX and I always flavored ribs all my life but this time it really disappointed me a lot. The food quality, the attitude towards customers and the way manager communicated to customers stink and sound ridiculous to me. I know Seward AK is a tourist spot and there is lack of good food here but the way restaurant owners treated tourists and tourist felt respected are important to keep Alaska flourishing. The bbq sauce they gave us was primarily made of vinegar. It did not convey a robust bbq flavor; it did not stick to the ribs or particularly complement the meat. The beans were bland; the slaw was rough chopped; the pickles were neither sweet nor dill. The potato salad was okay. We ate only about a quarter to a third of the serving between us. Our meat of choice was the brisket, which came shredded. Parts were hard and dry and we doused it with their BBQ sauce which is very watery. Tried a bit of my SIL's pork belly which was hard and dry too. We weren't asked if we wanted onions, jalapeños and pickles, and I didn't realize it until we were almost done. We LOVED this spot! We stopped by on a trip down the coast and all got bbq plates since all the sides sounded good. A lot of food you can't help but finish. Brisket was amazing, coleslaw was on the herby/vinegar side while still being mild, toast warm and buttered, and good potato salad. I added a blueberry Hefeweizen which was delicious. Over all the food was so so.. I got a Pork Rib plate. 4 ribs were served. Two of the Ribs were refrigerator cold at the bone (100% unacceptable) The beans quite literally had no flavor and tasted dry. I'm not sure how as there was juice there... But! The potato salad should have a total make over. The cold slaw was dry, no moisture to it at all. Their BBQ sauce is so runny nothing sticks to the meat, it was like I put nothing on it. This is also the only BBQ sauce that tastes like a very watered down "Buffalo wing sauce." I gave up on my last rib and didn't eat it. The owner was friendly and greets people right away as they walk in. Very friendly. The worst part of all... As an outdoor seating area, then the wind swirled around and would carry the odors from the dumpster in back to the tables . I over heard another couple say they had to leave due to that smell. The smell wasn't more than 10 seconds at a time... But still I guess something that will happen with an outside seating resturant and a nearby dumpster. read more

You know what? I don't love BBQ, I'm probably showing my English side there. But it was the only place we could find that didn't have a gigantic line of people waiting for a table. I was sure they'd have hot links, which I like. Unfortunately, no hot links. Very easy menu to understand, pick a meat, choose how you want that meat served to you (plate, sandwich, bowl etc) and wait till the dude at the side window shouts your name. Seating is covered picnic tables. It was a sunny day, but shady and breezy under these tables. I was freezing, because it's t shirt weather, and it's a significant amount of degrees colder underneath this covered seating. I gazed longingly across the road at Red's, wishing I'd gone there instead, because they had a School Bus for inside seating. I chose Pulled Pork and slaw sandwich. He got loaded baked potato also with pulled pork. I should have gotten the potato, being who I am and all. As soon as I saw our meals, instant disappointment, because he had an enormous potato, and I was instantly jealous, whereas I had a small hamburger bun, filled with a lot of meat, and barely any slaw. I ate half of it. I found the meat dry, and not enough slaw in to juice it up and get it messy. The bun was disappointing too. No substance or heft to it, not at all robust, and very flattened. We came to Firebrand BBQ to grab some food for lunch before going to a hike in town. It was so good that we came back for dinner the same day!! We wanted to try the wagyu ribs but they were sold out. If you want to taste the wagyu ribs, come soon after 3:30 when it's ready. Even though we missed the wagyu ribs, we really enjoyed the pork belly, smoked crab legs, brisket, and pork ribs. Our son doesn't usually eat crab, but when he tasted these smoked crab legs, he was hooked! Besides the tasty food, the best part was the owner's hospitality. It was apparent that he was being very attentive to his guests, making sure they were happy and well fed. We wanted to come back the next morning for their breakfast burrito (that would have made it 3 consecutive meals here), but the owner said they'll be closed because he's taking his staff out for a 3 day fishing trip! Our kids had BIG SMILES while eating and continued to RAVE about Firebrand BBQ after we returned home. They said it was their favorite meal in Alaska and they want to come back if we visit Alaska again. The tanner crab was fine, essentially a pretty big snow crab, not king crab though like some of the other reviewers seem to think. The beef ribs were good, good flavor although very greasy. I would come back for the beef ribs, probably pass on the crab next time. Breakfast Tacos! Very unique and yummy. We choose beef brisket as our meat, shared 3 tacos. I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and I finally got a chance to go. The ordering process was super easy, and the wait staff was really friendly and helpful. Everything seemed to be set up for a great experience. The seating area is outside, under a building cover, so dress appropriately for weather. The tables and chairs were nice, though. The only downside was the food. It was really bland and didn't have much flavor or taste. I even tried the BBQ sauce that they had on the table, but it tasted just as bland and watery. Brisket 1/5 - really dry, was cold when served , I could make better brisket at home in a slow cooker following a YouTube video from some dude who looks like Guy Fieri. But this wasn't even the worst part. 3. Pork belly 4/5 - highlight of meal for sure - this was actually quite good. Crisp outside , nice thick cuts. Good flavor that didn't require their lackluster excuse for bbq "sauce" 4. Pullled pork 2/5 - bland - marginally better than brisket 5. Bbq sauce 0/5 - and now we have reached the low point of this review. Having lived in St. Louis, Chicago and been thru K.C. many times perhaps my standards are just too high ... but this was ABYSMAL. No flavor, it's more of a juice, not really a sauce. Had to blast the brisket with it so my mouth didn't dry out. Buy some Sweet Baby Ray's and have your mind blown by comparison. Basically I could have dumped water on the meat and accomplished the same thing. 6. Crab legs - 3/5 - no butter - it would be hard to mess this up given they are in Alaska ... 7. Sides 2.5/5 -slaw was tasty and fresh, everything was subpar. Beans were fine nothing exciting. Potato salad was alright. Would have been a 1/5 but the pork belly saved them an entire star. If you really like bbq or have been to actually BBQ places in places that take the craft seriously - hard pass on this place and don't waste your time / money , you will be disappointed leaving. read more

Awesome BBQ on this rainy day after fishing. We were with a bunch of people for a work event and Firebrand was able to accommodate everyone's needs. Service was fast and they had a nice selection of beers to choose from. We were so happy they had coverage on this rainy day but then we lucked out and it didn't rain:)! They also have fire places to keep you warm if necessary. This has become an annual event for us after fishing and some people doing lost lost lake run. read more

Great food! We enjoyed our sandwiches and crab legs. We liked the casual outdoor sitting and they turned on the heaters.

I asked the waitress and she told me that they were best known for the pork belly and the brisket. We got the brisket (4/5 stars) and the plate included sides (coleslaw, baked beans, toast, potato salad - most were 3/5 stars). But the king crab (5/5 stars blow your mind delicious) was amazing - I've only ever had Dungeness crab before and wow I get the type about King Crab! As it is summer, the crab came from warmer water and was tender due to that and how fresh the crab was. I think we might go back for more crab! read more

This is a must-do restaurant. I had the wagyu beef ribs, and they just melted in your mouth. The meat is fall-off-the-bone tender, and the flavor is just delicious. You also get potato salad, beans, coleslaw, and bread. It's a very filling and satisfying meal. My husband got the pork belly, and he said it was very good. It's an outdoor covered restaurant. You go to the counter to order and then find a seat at one of their tables. They call you when it's ready, and it's a short wait. I noticed a lot of people order take-out. Pretty amazing stuff at a reasonable price (Alaska prices that is), service was fast, and the place is pretty unique. All outdoor seating might be an issue but since we had the RV, no problems. When the parking lot is full at 2pm you just know it's going to be great, and it was. Room to park a 24 foot + RV made it five stars. Brisket was great, backed potatoes were perfect and I even love the beans (spicy but not crazy). Parking lot could use a truckload of gravel to level it out but hey, it's Alaska. Going back. read more
