A couple months ago, I *finally* made it to Seward after literally two years of waiting for covid to be over enough for our cruise (originally scheduled for 2020) to take place. Funny enough, I'd heard such good things about Firebrand, specifically their breakfast burrito, that I specifically planned our day trips for the couple days we were in Seward after our cruise, so that we'd have time to get a breakfast burrito... sadly, through no fault of theirs (sounds like something broke down that morning and needed emergency replacement), I didn't get to try the breakfast burrito (I wish Seward were much closer to California, there's a *surprising* amount of good food for such a small town!), but on the other hand, I'd *also* heard such good things that I'd decided the day before that we were going to go there for their dinner menu and then the following morning for brunch! I'd love to take another cruise that connects in Seward and be able to try the breakfast burrito, but I'm very glad we made it once, at least, because it is all *very* good.
At least the day we were there (a couple months ago, so early season for cruises), we got there a little after 7 PM and they still had everything, so that was a nice surprise! We also met the owner - you can tell he's the owner, he's the guy who looks *exactly* like you picture a bbq pitmaster from Texas would look like, haha. Great guy, and you can tell he knows his bbq!
Originally we each ordered a burrito - $13 for a good burrito with fresh bbq'd brisket is pretty darn reasonable even for LA, let alone for Seward! Came out basically immediately, too! I can confirm: their brisket is great, their burritos are great, and mine was especially good, cause I added jalapenos to it (why we each got a burrito - my wife wouldn't have approved of the added peppers :p). They don't look huge, but looks can be deceiving - it's stuffed full of meat. Can strongly recommend their burritos. Is it literally the best bbq on the planet? No, that's still Franklin, obviously. But that's a... pretty high bar. It's darn good bbq. (Plus, Franklin doesn't sell burritos!)
They also have great drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. You can tell their sweet tea is brewed fresh - it's not *incredibly* sweet, but it is tasty! Their cups aren't huge, but it's also $2 a cup, so that's fine! They also have some great local craft beers for pretty good prices - my wife got a solid local beer for $5.
Also, conveniently since it ended up being our *only* meal here, we actually ended also getting a sandwich - I wasn't even particularly hungry after the wrap, but I figured in the morning it'd be a different menu (darn it!), so it was our only shot at trying their sandwich, so we split a pulled pork sandwich as well. It also came out pretty quickly. I can also confirm: the pulled pork is great too, and great in a sandwich (though I personally liked the burrito more, just more going on, plus it's bigger!)
I also personally quite liked the coleslaw! My wife isn't a fan of coleslaw, either, so I just got a side of it (also only $2, a great price!) I was happy it was fresh-tasting and not mayo-y, personally! Full of great, fresh, crunchy, vinegary vegetables! I'd put that coleslaw on anything! (Again, sadly, I was especially looking forward to eating it with the breakfast burrito again the next morning, wish I'd been in Seward a little longer! Why can't we just always be on vacation? Haha.) read more
