The guys here were great -- the backlight in my gauge cluster went out (the joys of an old German car), and the understood fix is the changing of a transistor, which fails often. I pulled the gauge out of the car, and James (?) changed out the transistor, then discovered a leaky capacitor, which he changed out too. Didn't charge me extra. I somehow damaged my laptop recently. The keyboard letter "s" wasn't functioning. I tried fixing it myself, but nothing worked. I feel pretty lucky to know that Fixlab was reputable, because I had experience with them before. I stripped the screw inside my ps5 ssd bay, and they helped me out by taking out the screw. I had an issue where my motherboard wasn't getting detected because of an accidental milk tea spill. Their response was super quick, went the next day and met with them, they suggested that we perform a liquid damage treatment to remove any remaining liquid inside. Was overall very happy with their approach, they were super kind and helpful and most importantly were patient enough to answer all of the questions that I had. First of nice guys,unfortunately took my PS4 to see why it was overheating and not working properly. They clean it and called to pick up and it still was not functioning right. After 2nd visit and $75 down the drain was notified by the other associate it had faulty hard drive. Something that could been fixed or caught the 1st time driving from Santa Ana I may add,they wanted another $150 for new drive so just make sure you check all devices working % before leaving this store. I recently had some HVAC problems and I did not want to spend any big money to have someone come out and diagnose my problem so when I eventually figured that it was my motherboard acting up I took it to fixLab to have them take a look over and have some connections re-soldered they worked quick and efficiently and they looked brand new they were extremely friendly and they did due their due-diligence of asking me certain questions if I checked certain HVAC troubleshooting (which I did) but it was nice to hear that they were attentive and carrying. Overall they did not charge me for the re-soldering which I didn't mind paying for, it might've been a small job to them but with that experience and quickness I didn't mind if they did charge me. I always get really nervous when I have electronic issues that can be really costly to get a new one, would require a whole replacement of the machine just for one damaged part, or it's a discontinued part altogether. I used to call computer repair shops hoping they could do the soldering work for my car, and while rejected by many, I found Fixlab. I mean, there's no real global go-to place for electronic fixes. For Fixlab, I think this is the place for almost all electronics. It seemed like they only do mostly electronic repair for game-related hardware, but when I called and tried giving it a shot, James picked up and was quite interested in fixing my tennis machine. On the phone he was already giving some of his thoughts on the issue and seemed really thoughtful. Bringing it to his shop, I already had confidence he would be helpful. He right away began testing some basic diagnosing things. He was also pointing things out as he went, since I tried fixing it myself before, I even asked questions and he answered with much ease...from that I learned so much. At the end, he said he would diagnose for free and I left my machine with him. He gave me calls the next day about his findings and followed up amazingly. He proposed 3 options and the best option had a labor cost that was about $65 for retrofitting a new charging port that would have smart charging (big upgrade from the OEM design). I could tell he put in a lot of research. I didn't think his work was worth $65 and gave him an extra $40 for spending a good deal of time along with being honest, fair, and selfless. An error was made when drilling out the space for the plug, but James contacted me right away and said he did his best to patch it up. Very honest and hardworking shop. He knew my machine costed $800 for a new one and still gave me the best price - fair and selfless. After this I trusted him to take a look at my ecu piggyback for my car. He spent a while checking the IC and looking it up while explaining again. He has other machines like embroidery, laser cutting, decal printing, and he's really keen on learning new things.
