These guys do honest and good work. The problem is their communication, they've told me on multiple occasions that they would call and update by a certain date and time, and on all those occasions I'm the one who calls a day later. I am not one to complain but they were totally a rip off and totally unethical. My screen and back were badly cracked and the button on top didn't work that shuts the screen off. When you talk on the iphone the sensor will shut the screen off so your cheek doesnt hang up, hit the speaker, mute etc..... So after spending 120 they told me it is another 30 to fix the sensor, which was WORKING prior to them fixing it. My suggestion is to pony up the 18 bucks and buy the tool kit and EOM Screen yourself. Here is the step by step video on how to do it and also to but the screen and tools needed to do it yourself. Don't let these con artists mark you up 300% at LEAST.... I should have listened to my gut but lesson learned. They never even offered a free diagnostic after spending all that money on it. Max and Tyler are always helpful and know what they are talking about. I have brought in numerous phones (I am in charge of 70 cell phones at my work) and my own personal computer and backup drive as well. They saved all my photos from a backup drive that I bought from the Mac store (which failed in 4 months of having it) I was so thrilled to have my 100 gb of photos back! Yesterday I took an iphone 4 to the Apple Store in SF to have a look at it because it seemed to be broken. After a long wait, the Apple Store "genius" said it would cost $150 to fix the "multi-touch error". So I decided to bring in the paperwork and phone to Fix that Mac in Concord and have Max take a look at it. He looked at the phone and said the home button was pressed 3 times which activated voice over. Max pressed the home button and it was fixed...and there was no charge. Fix That Mac staff is way more helpful and knowledgable than anyone at the Apple Store. Max, at Fix that Mac was incredibly helpful. My MacBook kept telling me that my start-up disk was full. I'd already been to the Apple store, which ran a diagnostic and suggested that I transfer all of my photos to a back-up drive and buy more memory. After a trip to Fry's and disassembling my laptop, I discovered that there was no free memory slot available. Returned stuff to Fry's and then went to Fix that Mac. In about 30 minutes, Max ran a different diagnostic software and discovered my problem. iPhoto had downloaded incorrectly and created 200+GB of cache files. Deleted the files, and back in business. My MacBook Pro has been so slow since updating it to whatever the newest software is. I brought it in to find out if it was repairable. They helped me right away, immediately told me I needed more ram. Unfortunately they didn't have the ram I needed to upgrade from 2g to 8, but they had 4. They installed 4 right then and there, and didn't charge me. I'll be back later in the week to pay for the 8g, since I'll need the ram. I called these guys to have my iPad screen fixed. They told me they would have to order parts and that they'd email me when they came in. Unfortunately I received no email about the parts arriving. I brought my device in and they told me that it would be done in no more than 2 days. Today is Friday, three days later and they still haven't finished. When I asked if it would be finished by tomorrow they had no answer for me. Very unprofessional kids running this business. Where is the owner? What can I say??? The great guys at Fix That Mac saved my life. Multiple projects due within the next 2 days, MacBook hard drive dies. I search Yelp & breathe into a paper bag to stop the hyperventilating. Stop by as soon as they open next morning. Tech was friendly, paid attention, did some troubleshooting while I waited. Ended up not needing a new hard drive but rather a new cable (apparently a common issue in the model year I own). Had it back the same evening. My mom, who is 76 years old, was having trouble with the Apple ID on her iPhone and could not download apps. She had a couple other problems as well but I can't remember what they were. She told me she was going to go to the Apple Store in Walnut Creek to get help from them. Knowing where it is and that she would have to park and then walk to the store, then wait for someone to help her, I told her to try Fix that Mac in Concord. My husband had gone there and received help with an update problem he was having. She went to Fix that Mac and received help from Alex. She told me Alex spent almost an hour with her and was very helpful. She was so grateful for the great service she received, and she didn't have to wait. Their convenient location in downtown Concord was easy for her to find, and park. They did not even charge her for the help. She was so happy that I had told her about this great place. My experience over the last two years (as a mac and iPhone user) is that these folks are amazing - always helpful, courteous and professional. They have always been available to check out a problem with my computer and give a more-than-fair estimate for repair. My experience with Tyler at the store is a case in point; If I had a PC and went to Geek Squad, I would pay 2-3 times what I paid here, waited 2-3 times longer and dealt with amateur techs. I had a broken screen on my MacBook pro laptop. Not just a small crack, but the whole LCD was sunk in. My husband dropped it off and received a call back informing the screen was fixed. We picked it up but since he didn't know the password for my laptop when he dropped it off they couldn't log into it to make sure it was functioning like it should. When I opened it up quickly noticed that where the camera should be, looked empty. I logged in and the screen looked great, but as I went to my Photobooth it took a while to load. Eventually notified that no camera was connected. I called the place and they informed them what happened, they told me to take it back as soon as possible and they'll fix it up, no extra charge. Their customer service was very nice. That time I walked in and left them my password. They took a while to reach out and inform us it was ready that time, I had to call twice. But they communicated that they were waiting for the part since they used the one on my old screen. I completely understood since I wasn't able to take it back right away that it would happen. But no extra charge since we had already paid for the whole screen and service. Now I have a full functioning laptop, with camera and all. read more

A couple years ago, they replaced my iPod battery with a new one--which lasted about two days. I finally got around to fixing it again a month or two back, which reminded me post a review on Yelp. The guy who replaced the battery this time found that the old one had been put back in, that it charged up, but hadn't been connected properly. So it couldn't recharge, I guess. I have no idea if the person who opened it up got distracted and then closed it up thinking that nothing was wrong with it, or that he or she had replaced and re-connected everything properly or what. No idea. Someone who knows more about iPods could probably tell you more about what probably happened. However, two years later, when I finally did get around to complaining about it on Yelp, the current manager (I don't know if he was there at the time or not,) contacted me to offer a refund. Since their system has changed in the time between, this required a lot of work, digging through physical receipts. He really didn't have to do that. I really should have taken it back the day it stopped working again, when it was still under warranty. I just got busy and distracted, and failed to make it a priority. So, while I can't say that the original repair was done well, I can say that they really went out of their way to correct the error when they could have just told me to piss off. This is a revision of a previous review that I am leaving intact below. After I posted that review, Tyler, the manager, messaged me and asked me to come back so he could make it right. He went out of his way to get a battery from their Berkeley store and tried it in my phone. At that point it became obvious that there was something else wrong with the phone, too, besides the battery problem. But at least then I knew I'd have to buy a new phone. He spent about 20 minutes with me and he didn't charge me a dime, plus he didn't ask me to buy the battery. I would definitely return here, but I would probably ask for a manager. The two managers were really nice and very apologetic about the young man who hadn't been helpful on my first visit. Anyway--five stars for effort and for making things right! The old review: I walked in with an iphone 5 that wouldn't turn on. The guy listened to my story and then said, "It could be the battery or the motherboard." I asked, "So, how can you tell which one?" Him: "I'd need a battery to do that." Me: "So?" Him: "We'll all out of batteries for that model. We might have some in two or three months." Me: "Huh?" Him: "They come in blocks." Uh, okay. Hey, I know it's a slightly older model, but isn't that mainly what comes in for repairs? I'm not going there again. The Apple store is a zoo, and you have to wait four days to get an appointment, but at least they're equipped to do a diagnosis and repair. This trip was a waste of my time. They only got two stars because he wasn't rude. Update: The store manager contacted me and says the parts will be in earlier than I was told. I brought it in, no appointment, Saturday afternoon, and they immediately started working on it, right in front of me. Fixed everything up and even have my computer a good cleaning. Good prices. These people are idiots!! They had my iMac desktop for a month, A MONTH!! I kept calling them but keep getting a voicemail, I left few voicemails but nobody has called back. Then I finally decided to go over there in person, the guy at the counter didn't have answer for me so he kept going to the back of the store to check with the "tech" that was working on it, this is how that conversation vent: " is my computer diagnosed?" "Let me check" he goes in the back where they do "repairs" " the tech opened it and closed it" "And"? "Let me check" Comes back: " he stepped out for a minute" WTF? Did he say what the problem is? One of the worst experiences I've had trying to fix a phone. Went in with a perfectly working iPhone 5 with a cosmetic screen shatter, which they fixed. Shortly after the screen replacement the touch was not responding (touching keys on its own, not recognizing my touch etc.) Only way to use my phone was the "voice to text" feature. Brought it back and they said they would put a whole new screen on for free, they did. Again, brought my phone home and it was having the same problems. Bring phone back a final time and they said they see this problem a lot with the iPhone 5, that I need to get a whole new phone now. My $90 repair now costs me a whole new phone as my phone is completely unusable and the only thing they had to say is that it happens frequently with the iPhone 5. I'm now about $700 in debt for a new phone and as a student this puts me in an extremely tight position. Not to mention during the whole two week process I had called and left several voicemails to the store, never picked up the phone, never returned my calls.
