I contacted Yelp because this review was not being displayed on their site, which makes me wonder if other reviews are not being displayed. The original-estimated-time frame was 3 days but my car was at Chrome Collision in Poway, CA for 28 days to repaint one door, rear fender, blend with front fender, and both bumpers. I received a call after a week informing me that the car would be delayed because someone forgot to paint reflectors on the front bumper. I received a call a few days later informing me of another delay because they found a run in the paint. I received a call on the third week informing me that they found a blemish on the door that needed to be corrected. I completely understood the delays and told the estimator to take as long as he needed to correct the issues. I was supposed to pick up the car on day 24 but I told them that I would pick it up the following day which would give them an extra day to clean the car. (I did not want it detailed but I wanted it as clean as it was when it arrived). I arrived on the 25th day to pick up the car and noticed a run on the front bumper and possibly overspray on the rear bumper. They offered to repair the bumper, remove the overspray, and pay for a rental car the following week. I also noticed thick dust on the entire interior of the car, feet prints on the speaker in the driver's door, smudges on the inner-door panel, and abrasions on the new paint that appeared to be from an edge of a buffer, and two places where paint lifted (peeled) on the fender. I took the car back the following week and Chrome paid for the rental car but I paid $35 for auto insurance. I picked up the car 3 days later which was a total of 28 days. They fixed the abrasion on the door, run on the bumper, lifted paint in two spots, and removed the roughness or overspray from the bumper and mirrors. I was informed that the lifted paint was repaired by repainting the fender but the marker light that is 6-8 inches from the repair fell out because it was melted. I know that the light was melted at Chrome because I installed it 2 days prior to delivering the car. I bought a new light online for $23.97. Some of the staff were exceptional and I feel like others were not truthful (It's my opinion). I appreciate the estimator having the shop repaint / paint parts but I wish they would have implemented a different process, so I would not have waited 28 days to have a finished product. The paint looks good and they are willing to correct their mistakes but I will not recommend Chrome Collision because of the condition I received my car on day 25 especially since they had an extra day look over the car. Unfortunately the estimator was not there on day 25 when I picked up the car the first time because I might have gotten the car in better condition or it might have been held until it met his standards. Updated: I noticed a gap where the bumper attaches to the inner fender. So I touched it and a screw fell out. The paint on the door, rear fender, and rear bumper look good but there is a rough edge on the front bumper. Updated: I continue to find more surprises as I do maintenance on my car. I paid Chrome Collision to remove, repair, and paint the bumper, and there are staples and un-sanded welds or epoxy on the bottom of the bumper. The manager assured me that the bumper was removed after I mentioned seeing silver paint on black mesh behind the bumper. Therefore, I'm not sure why the staples were not installed / hidden on the inside of the bumper while it was off the car. Please see the image. Updated: The paint on the front fender lifted again after three months. Updated: I contacted the Bureau of Automotive Repair who worked with the owner of Chrome Collision (now Fix Auto Poway) who apologized and resolved the issues. read more

The neighbor backed his car into my parked car, baseball sized dent in the rear bumper as a result. Neighbor gave us all his insurance information through USAA. USAA sent us here to have the bumper repaired here. This was all great! Fixed in a reasonable time and looked great. Unfortunately, several months later the rear bumper developed a gap between the rear quarter panel and the rear. Some retaining tabs had broken causing the bumper to popout from the panel, causing a visible gap. I took it back have them look at it. They indicated (paraphrasing here), "There's no way this happened without an impact, it's not covered by our warranty" while a few feet back from the rear of the car... their only claim as to evidence of this is a cosmetic bumper scratch, which came after the bumper/panel started separating. On pressing, the rep agreed to take it back and have the tech look at it. They indicated they find a plastic retaining piece (paraphrasing again) "Just hanging there" and cited that as further evidence of an impact. Was the retainer replaced on install? Was it damaged during the original incident? Was it installed correctly? Might the failure in the install/part cause undue stress on other mounting points that caused the plastic tabs to fail over time? None of this was elaborated on, "It's impact damage, we won't cover it." It seems odd that the area where the quarter panel and bumper started to separate is EXACTLY where the accident impacted. Nonetheless, the rep made the determination that it WAS in fact impact BEFORE the tech looked at it. I'm now having to go back to USAA to get them to fix the problem. I'll either reach a satisfactory solution through this avenue or it'll be to small claims. Bottom line. Their warranty is worthless.They look for excuses to deny a claim on parts/workmanship without putting the due in diligence first. read more

On recommendation by an insurance company, I selected CHROME Collision to review the rear-end damage on my vehicle. The company representative did a sight inspection and then the general manager took over and showed me part of the internal damage. I told the GM that I would like a second inspection. The GM said that there was substantial damage to the rear and the latch of the hatchback would not latch and that he should declare my vehicle was considered damaged and that he could declare it not drivable. This tactic is not acceptable. I had my doubts selecting CHROME because I was not fond of the scare tactics used by the GM, but I decided to go with CHROME since I was headed out of town and was told that it would take 7 days. After I signed the papers, the GM said that an auto detailing would be added to my car as a courtesy service for choosing CHROME. After 10 days without a call, I called CHROME to check on the status of my vehicle. The GM told me that there were a few more items that CHROME was waiting on but the car would be ready by Friday. On late Friday, the GM returned my call at 5:15 p.m. and told me that my car was ready, they lost an employee so the detailing had not been done, but that I could pick up my car without the detailing. I looked up the hours for Enterprise and they close at 6:00 p.m. I did not have time to drop off the rental car and drive to CHROME. I called the GM and told him that I really wanted my car but he promised me the auto detailing. He was rude and said that the detailing costs $250 and he did promise it but it would not be done until Monday. He made it sound like he was doing me a favor and kept saying that he was down an employee. I was upset and told him to keep my car and that I did not want to hear any more excuses as to why my car was not finished. Again, the GM told me I could take my car back now. I told him that this was a blatant disregard of what he promised and that I felt he no longer wanted to give me the service that he offered which I think is bad customer service. On Monday, I was given my car as promised, but after bringing it home had discovered a hazard light came on. I called CHROME, and the GM said that I could bring the car back but that the light was not there when I picked up the car. I've been told before to pull over and stop driving the car with the hazard light on so I told him that when I dropped off the car in the beginning and the hazard was not on, but on the very same day that I pick up the car the light comes on so it has to do with the collision. The GM tried to make another excuse, but I was adamant that I would not be driving my car to CHROME. He finally agreed that he would pick up my car and have another rental delivered within 30 minutes. An hour and a half later the GM shows up and proceeds to show me that my car was driveable by doing a circle around my cul-de-sac. I again told the GM that I have been told previously to stop driving and pull over when the triangle with an exclamation hazard light comes on. The GM then got out of the car to show me a printed photo of the dash that was taken during the service. All I wanted was for the GM was to take my car and say that he would check on the problem. Instead he decides to make sure that I felt uncomfortable because I called him about a problem that was not there prior to me taking my car the CHROME. The following day, the GM calls to tell me that the fan for the battery wasn't working. Which, I believe, was caused by the collision. He would need to keep it for another couple of days. I told him that I don't want to hear any more excuses, I just want my car fixed. He then proceed to yell at me and tell me that he didn't want to hear me complain about him making excuse and I wasn't to tell him that anymore. At this point all communication broke down and I told him just to fix my car. Moments later, I called CHROME and told the receptionist that I no longer felt comfortable working with the GM and wanted to speak to the owner. I received a call from the owner who took over from that point. The only saving graces and the only reasons why CHROME Collision was given two starts were the people who worked with me prior to the GM taking over and the owner who managed to salvage a poor situation. I have never been treated so poorly by a general manager of an auto body shop. I signed over nearly $8000 and was maltreated and given excuse after excuse. read more

I am an insurance agent and Fix Auto chain is a preferred provider. Through the 30 years of my career, I have sent much business to them. First time having an accident and need body work myself, I brought in my vehicle for repairs. They were cordial and the follow up process was consistent so I decided to have them repair my vehicle. That was the end of the good experience. After waiting for them to order parts and coordinate my schedule, I finally scheduled for my repair. I took vehicle in and was told one week. It turned into a month with no explanation and when we finally pick up the car, found flaws in the work. We had to leave it again, and was reassured that the extra cost for rental car while they correct the flaws would be covered since it's their fault. They kept the vehicle tor another 2 weeks. When we came back, they refused to pay for the extra rental car cost, using an excuse that they found other problems with the vehicle. Even if this was true, it should have been found and resolved prior to us picking up the first time. I escalated it to the manager Marc who just shrugged it off with excuses and blamed on the estimator as making promises that he didn't authorized. I had a witness that heard our whole conversation when his estimator went in to ask for authorization. Not only did he not deliver on his promise, he compromise his team member's competency. We ended up paying extra for work that they didn't deliver. More than disappointed with how they treat a customer that is also a referral source for them. read more

I was originally went to Auto Body Excellence in Poway because I was hit in two separate incidents and that was the preferred shop of Driver #1's insurance. However, FixAuto was the preferred shop of Driver #2's insurance. I ended up getting both my repairs done at FixAuto because from the moment I walked in, I felt welcome and taken care of. Courtney was more friendly than required of her job (what a contrast to the other shop where they barely made eye contact and seemed like they were in a rush to get me out). She offered coffee/tea/water during my brief wait in their spacious and clean lobby. Conrad (of Geico) and Ryan saved me time and money by suggesting I consolidate the two repairs (less time in a rental car and driving to two shops, less paperwork, etc). Ben of Enterprise was efficient and friendly and for me in a rental within minutes (one of the greatest things about FixAuto is that it's a one-stop-shop. They have the inspector from insurance, the body shop manager and the car rental all in the same place. Very convenient. Not that I would wish accident repairs on anyone but if it must be done, FixAuto makes the process a breeze. read more

Good old San Diego County roads got our '06 Toyota Sienna LE. My wife had just gotten on the freeway at Center City heading South on the 15. Just at around the Del Lago exit she and two other cars started to have to dodge chunks of 4x4 wood in the road. None of them hit each other but all of them nailed the wood and all three went off to the side with blown tires and other damage. AAA was quick to respond and had the donut spare on our van in no time and my wife back on the road again. The adventure started after this though. I took the van in for service and to have it checked out. The dealership found nothing obvious so I then went to Discount Tire to get the Road Hazard taken care of on our front right tire. I then went to Firestone and they informed me that I had some serious damage to the right front suspension and it needed a body shop. After contacting my insurance company, I was directed to one of their shops, Chrome Collision Center in Poway. I drove the car by right away and met with the manager to discuss the damage and get an estimate. He didn't give me a written estimate but did give me a verbal and since it was covered on my insurance I wasn't concerned too much with just having that. I was told to drop the van on Monday morning and I would possibly have it back on Monday evening or Tuesday morning. My wife dropped the van off on Monday morning but they could not find the paperwork I had filled out so she had to do it all again. She was driven home and all was well. That evening before I got off work I decided to call and check on progress and see if the van would be ready that evening or the next morning. I was surprised to hear that they hadn't even started on it and the parts wouldn't be in until the next morning. After some discussion regarding my impending trip on July 4th and needing the van in order to go on the trip, I was assured that it should be ready by close of business unless the alignment shop found something else wrong. Victor went above and beyond the call to insure that our van was ready by the next afternoon. We were able to leave on time the next morning as planned. My only complaint was the communication. From the manager telling me that it would only take a day or a little more and not bringing up the fact that they would only replace certain parts first then send it to alignment and if more work was needed then replace other parts and then Victor telling us how it would really be after the fact. I had to have the work done as the van would have eaten our right front due to the alignment being so far out of whack, but I really would have liked to hear more from them and not haved to call so often to find out status. They did a great job and I am super satisfied with the final product. read more

My nightmare began on May 23, 2017 when I was involved in a fender bender leaving my home. I filed a claim thorough GEICO and they gave me the option of the taking my GTI to the shop of my choice or picking one from their preferred shop. I elected to use on of their shops to make the whole process easier. They referred me to Fix Auto Poway and after doing a quick yelp review i agreed to take it there, despite some of the bad reviews. This turned out to be a grave error. The claims process was very easy. I dropped off the car, enterprise put me in a rental and i was on my way. When i dropped off the car i let them know that i had ordered some aftermarket headlights that i had been wanting anyway. The estimator was nice and accommodating to the situation.I mentioned I worked in the insurance industry myself and knew the process. I also explained that the headlights would arrive Friday the 26th. On the 26th received a call explaining that they would need some additional time and the car would be ready after the holiday weekend, on the 30th. The weekend passed and the 30th came when i got the call that my car was ready to pick up, I was excited to me back in my GTI, and looking forward to seeing the new headlights! I took a long lunch from work and raced down to the shop. As I pulled into the shop parking lot i could see my car waiting for me, it looked great...from far. I went inside and walked back out with the estimator. Upon closer inspection i quickly noticed that the headlights were misaligned. I pointed it out right away to the estimator and he stated that the aftermarket never fit right, and that is why they were not aligned and many gaps were off. I frowned knowing this is completely untrue. Before my purchase of the MK7 Helix lights i did plenty of research an know they fit very well and there is plenty of adjustment to make them fit correctly. We continued with the inspection knowing i would likely have to remove the bumper myself and realign everything. As soon as I opened the hood I noticed several bolts were not aligned and a CRACK in the radiator support. The interesting thing about this crack is that it is directly where one of the parts they removed was. In other words, there is no possible way the workers could have missed that and obviously should have been addressed before giving me back the car. The estimator quickly apologized and explained how he had not see the vehicle before it was returned to me. He agreed that they would have the car pulled back in and address the issue. I left the shop disheartened. Later that day i received another call from the estimator that they would not be replacing the part, but instead would repair it. He explained that since the part is not weight bearing it would not sacrifice the car's structural integrity. I was kind of in amazement and just hung up the phone. When I received the call later that same day I got into a bit of an argument w the estimator stating that the radiator SUPPORT is literally a structural part and i thought it should have been replaced rather that repaired. He only reason that it was NOT replaced was that I discovered it after complete assembly of the front end. The estimator stood firm and advised that they would have handled it the same regardless. I was upset, but just wanted my car back at this point. I let them know i would pick it up by the end of the day. I arrived later that day and the estimator was not available and with another customer. Inspected the vehicle with the GEICO adjuster. I inspected the repair to the core support and although i was not in agreement with repairing the core support, the repair itself seemed decent. I looked over the and noticed the front VW emblem completely miss aligned with the notch in the hood. I pointed it out to the adjuster and he agreed it was way off. I waited for the estimator and he looked at it in amazement and without excuse, because the grill replaced with OEM. He apologized and explained that he would take the car in the shop and have the techs looks at it. I waited for about 15 minutes until the estimator came out again and was very apologetic. He explained there was no excuse for the workmanship and would have the car torn down again and reassembled and he would personally be involved in the process. I went home again with another day without my car. On my third visit to the shop the car was finally "complete". He apologized again and credited $60 back to my card for the inconvenience. He was sure to mention that the previous tech was working under no supervision and this was the reason for the lack luster workmanship. On my final inspection I noticed that the grille was STILL misaligned. At this point I felt so defeated i just wanted to get out of there. I left and even forgot one of my old headlights. Today, about 2 weeks later I replaced the wheels on my car so i got to take a closer look at their work. Its is terrible. Stay AWAY! Hope they reach out & mk it right. read more

Took my car here through Gieco. They had my car for almost a month, I got my car back and had my car back for 2 days and the TPMS light came on. They claim it wasn't related to the accident, but if it wasn't then that means the light is on due to the work they did to my car because this light was NEVER on prior to my accident. Come to find out they had my tire pressure at 50 when its supposed to be at 32!!!! But that's not it. Took my car to Honda to look at and tell me why this light is on since they don't want to HONOR their work and customers. Come to find out my front tire has more tread on it than the others which is throwing off my system. They claim they didnt change a tire, but that's funny when I have the proof and paperwork of when I got ALL 4 TIRES done the SAME EXACT DAY last year. Stay away from this shop. They don't care about their customers well being or the work done. You're nothing more than a dollar sign. I'm ashamed that Gieco works with such a disgraceful place. Bad business. read more

It's been a couple days since our second repair and so far so good. The quality of the repairs have been top notch. Our 2017 Subaru was backed into in a parking lot and the rear bumper was damaged. These new cars are not simple to just touch up and the work required the bumper shell to be replaced and repainted. Fix Auto Body was recommended along with a few other body shops. Fix was the first stop for me and I am normally a thorough shopper, but after meeting Jay and hearing how they would tackle the repair and seeing the clean shop, professional staff, I decided right away to pick them for the repair. I was out of town quite a bit and waited a long time, but once I called over to Jay to say I was ready for the repair, he graciously scheduled me in. I dropped the car on a Monday, one of their young shop guys gave me a ride home, and the car was done ahead of schedule by Wednesday. The repair is fantastic and they even touched up two other scratches for me free of charge. The final bill was exactly what we discussed and they coordinated everything with Farmers Insurance. I took my wife's car here for some basic bodywork repairs and was pretty unenthused with the result. While our insurance (USAA) would ultimately be footing the bill, the cost was very expensive. For the price, service would be top notch... right? We came to pick up our car and encountered several issues. The car's interior had a strong oil smell, which is still evident today (6+ months after the bodywork was completed). The car windows were very dirty and some trash was left in the car - despite this shop's promise that the car would be cleaned inside and out prior to pick-up. We also noticed some of the gauges were not working properly after driving the car around again. We brought the car back a week later to explain some of these issues. After quite a wait the gauges were fixed but the staff wouldn't take responsibility for the other items. I've now read several other Yelp! reviewers claiming that this shop refuses to take responsibility for problems once you drive the car off the lot. I'd recommend double and triple checking your car at pickup to make sure you are satisfied. Better yet, find another body shop in Poway - there are plenty of them. read more

This is a great place to get your car repaired. I came in with a dent in my front bumper, nothing too major but just wanted to make sure. Mike the mechanic checked it out for 10 minutes, helped me reattach my bottom bumper, checked my back, and said everything was good to go. He was going to help me cancel the claim and I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket. Seriously an honest mechanic and great guy. This shop was recommended by my insurance, Geico. My insurance adjuster made me feel very confident about the repair they were going to do by telling me "Lifetime Guarantee" on the repairs and it will look like it never happened. I told him "I will remember you said that" since I am a very detail oriented person that notices everything! He said they were going to replace the front fender and "repair" the door. I expressed my concern over repairing the door since the damage was pretty bad. He said it will look like it never happened. So I go to pick up my car that I have only made 1 payment on so all of this was pretty hard to deal with after hitting a bed frame on the freeway. Sorry... When I picked up my car I noticed a couple of little things and the owner of the shop said take your time and if you find anything wrong bring it back and will fix it. Sounds good doesn't it? Well my philosophy is, if you fix it right the first time you shouldn't have to worry about that. I noticed the shape of the door was wrong, the fender was not lining up correctly and the front grill was falling off. These were just the major things. I don't understand who is checking these things? They were pretty obvious! I take it back and speak to Susan the manager and she comes out to look at the car and says, "well you can't expect everything to be perfect". WHAT! These problems have nothing to do with perfection. I could already tell this was not going to end well. I left the car and called the Geico supervisor and he assured me they WILL fix everything. Susan called me and said she received a phone call from the supervisor from Geico. She also said "we are going to fix everything". 1 day later Susan calls me to come in and look at a new door that arrived. So I drive all the way down to Poway and she shows me the new door they received. It had some minor imperfections. She still insisted they could fix the door. I told her to order another door just in case they can't repair it. I gave them the benefit. So Susan calls me the next day to come look at the door again, so I drive down there and the door looks terrible. These guys are ridiculous, they couldn't see an elephant in their own house! They still hadn't ordered the door. I told her if you had ordered the door like I said you would have a backup. Now I have to wait longer. Here's the best part... They still haven't started working on the other problems! A week later I get a phone call from Susan saying my car is ready. So I go look at it, the fender looks better, they fixed the grill but the new door doesn't line up correctly. At this point I am done with these guys and I take my car. I needed to leave since my Brother-in-law passed away, so it wasn't the best time. My sister get's in my car and notices the door won't open correctly! UNBELEIVABLE!!!!!!!!! I drive back from Bakersfield and notice the next day the bottom of the door where there is supposed to be trim is gone! It must have fell off on the way home from my sister's.
