Five Star Nails is a great place to go for any and all of your "nail needs". I highly recommend this place to everyone, this is my go to place and it has been for a few years now. Everyone is professional, nice and most importantly they all do a great job. I usually go in for a gel manicure, and sometimes a pedicure as well, I can assure you that I always come out happy with my new nails. The prices are around the same as what you would find in other nail salons, so they definitely don't overcharge. Basically, to avoid a wait, make an appointment. The times I have gone without an appointment , Thad the owner as well the the receptionist have always done there best to accommodate me as soon as possible. They often even offer coffee, water, and around the holidays..egg nog! I was on a cruise this past week and had my nails done at QNails prior to my trip. They didn't even last two days and I had to suffer the rest of my vacation with chipped finger nails. My friend I was with had a gel mani and it remained looking perfect the entire time so I decided to make an appt immediately because I was tired of paying money for manis and pedis that never lasted. As soon as I stepped off the ship, I called this place and set up an appt for 12 pm that day for a gel mani and pedi with Magolie (I think that's her name. It's written sloppy on the card she gave me). Anyway, she did such a great job! I was very impressed with how meticulous and thorough she was. She was also so warm and sweet in her demeanor. She's like your abuelita and has no trouble conversing with you. The only thing was that I'm used to having to wash my hands after shaping and cutting the cuticles and all that jazz with a little hand massage but that didn't happen. I didn't mind that skipped step after I saw my results. She also offered me coffee and wine and some pastelitos and was super attentive like she WANTED to get me to eat and drink stuff. I loved it. My pedicure was also very nicely done. The whole thing (gel mani and pedi WITH French) came out to $55 and I tipped her $10. Not bad at all. And the fact that it hasn't chipped or smudged at all impresses me. Great quality work and please make sure you call ahead to make an appt because it gets VERY packed and I'm willing to bet the people who are leaving negative reviews were the ones who didn't do their research on who to ask for and didn't make an appt. read more

I hate leaving poor reviews but unfortunately this place does not live up to its name. It is definitely not a five star nail salon not the service. It's a small nail salon in a shopping strip mall conveniently located. The real problem here is the service and manicure. My nail technician was super slow, my manicure alone took almost an hour and I paid for Shelac the Gail polish which literally chipped that same day. Since then all my nails have chipped little by little. It was cheaper that other places I have been to but not worth it at all if I had to do it again in less than a week. I wouldn't recommend this place. Spend the extra $5 and just get the manicure else where where it will last. read more

Horrible experience. I've gone several times before but I guess they were under different management but I would never go again. First off I made an appointment and when I arrived they told me they did not write it down and refused to take me. But the worst part is when I went to get refills for my acrylics the lady burned me by filling down my nail so much that it left it with no nail and exposing my nail bed. After a week I decided to take them off at another salon and they told me whoever did my acrylics did a horrible job because my nail had gotten fungus. So take my experience as lesson. read more

Worst experience ever. When I went they looked busy but told me to wait and they would see me soon. I waited and waited. They ended up calling workers who were off to come in to handle the walkins. I ended up waiting over an hour, but more like 2. I wanted to leave but I invested so much time I wanted to believe them when they said any minute. I really wanted to like this place but there were too many red flags for me to keep coming back. First off no one greets you when you walk in or even acknowledge a paying customer. I had an appointment for 3:15 but still waited 20 minutes to be attended in an empty salon. Long story short the nail tech who attended me seemed like she just learned how to apply acrylics 5 minutes ago. The nails she was applying on me were way too small and she noticed it but shrugged it off and proceeded in applying the rest of it on. At the end of the long process the nails appeared to be crooked and rising upward and she had the audacity to say my fingers are shaped pointing up????? I've applied acrylics for over 10 years and never in my life have I gotten that. She told me to come back Tuesday to get them fixed and honestly seems like a waste of time if you can't get it right the first time. I was so embarrassed I wanted to just run out so I didn't even stay to do my feet. Right after I left I went straight to target to buy some 100% acetone to remove his nasty ass work and then $5 press on nails. In all honesty I regret paying these people at all. read more

During the week I would give this place give stars. That's when I receive great service. Today I went on a Sunday and I am very disappointed. I had an appointment- gel polish manicure change. I was seated right away which was great. The manicurist put the acetone and foil on my nails and then left. During this time, she apparently received another customer and with no word to me, began her manicure. I understand that multitasking is necessary, but I was sitting in pure acetone for almost 30 min... I did not feel comfortable with that. Another manicurist took over. She scraped all of the old gel off my nails and filed them, but did not allow me to go rinse my hands. (Yes, I asked.) Keep in mind, I had been sitting in the acetone for a long amount of time. She painted them with the powder residue still all over my hands. When it was time for my hand massage, she massaged one hand. For the other one, she received a phone call so she just wiped the lotion on my hand, told me "now" I can go wash my hands and proceeded to take her call. Needless to say, I left unhappy. Once again, I love this place during the week. Just make sure you make an appointment. But if you want good service, don't go on a Sunday. read more

This nail salon has an amazing team. I came so many times, and though I was rude to never book an appointment, they always accommodated me, each time with a different person who gave the same 5 star service. I was blown away by the effectiveness of their management. My nails would be as thin as a credit card, finely rounded on the edges, beautiful and chip free- even after weeks. And the prices of this salon? Unmatched. Every nail tech here is good except for one. I won't say who she is because if her manager reads this review, she would probably fire her. I have seen this tech twice, and realizing I was being sat with her a second time left a feeling of dread in my gut, but I sat in her chair anyway. She is the roughest technician I've ever worked with. For a whole week after I had my nails done, my fingers hurt if I moved them. Both times that I've sat in her chair and awkwardly tried to make conversation with her, she's ignored me. The woman next to me was also getting a service, and so in the middle of my session, she made me wait 15 minutes to fix what she did. The other customer was complaining that the nails didn't look the same as last time. They had used some new product on her and it was obvious the tech hadn't bothered to look in to how to use it. I personally can verify that her nails did not look good. That calls in to question the technician's carelessness about other things- like sanitation, which I'll get to later. The worst part was, she told the customer, "That's your fault, not mine." and laughed her off. Finally, she got back to me. Well guess what happened to my nails in the long run? I had to get my nails removed, and what's worse, the set she put on me wasn't even properly sized and the nails were still popping off, despite the fact that I get them filled every 10 days. Why? Because I got the worst fungal infection in the 15 years I've been getting my nails done ever. I'm never going back to this salon, because I can't even remember that woman's name and I won't risk getting sat with HER again. read more

Never going back! Sad to say that because jenny did a good job with my nails. BUT the customer service is horrible. The past 2-3 times I walked in to get my eyebrows done and I waited over a whole hour! I would get up and complain and no one would do nothing. They say walk-ins are welcome but they are LIARS! They rather take appointments. I saw them lock the door to a lady that was walking in an hour before closing. Then I missed my appointment and the girl called me saying I missed it. When regularly they call and remind you. Not this time. She had an attitude about it. I had to ask her what she had available because she didn't offer me to reschedule ,I thought that was rude. I used to go to this Nail Salon about a couple of months ago. Decided to stop by about a month ago. Surprised to see the place had changed. It used to be owned by this lovely couple. Most of their family worked there and all of their technicians performed an outstanding job. I stoped by on a tuesday which is normally not packed or busy. There were about 4 or 5 technicians. I was there at about 6:30pm and they close at 8pm. I guess the new owner, an asian lady, told me they were busy and they could not attend to me. I told her I didn't mind waiting since it was 6:30 after all. She said that for a mani/pedi they could not do it and that no one was willing to perform the services since everyone would not be done in an hour and no one wanted to stay past 8pm. I told her that they should not have "Walk-ins" welcomed sign if they are not willing to attend to walk-in customers. I was shocked and displeased by the attitude of this lady. Needless to say I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. I miss the other owners. This place has HORRIBLE customer service. I normally don't write reviews but I feel that this place needs to change their attitude and customer service skills if they want to survive. There are far better Nail places in Kendall area and all are willing to take an extra customer at anytime they are open. read more

Horrible experience! Where to start well from the beginning .. Came in as a walk in and luckily was able to get serviced fairly quickly. The lady who took care of me (Evelyn) was just plain rude. She didn't even ask how I was doing only what I was getting done. She left me half way through the mani to do I don't know what. Then she came back and was checking her phone.. So unprofessional! We moved onto the pedicure and she didn't even offer to carry my things. I had to struggle with my wet mani to get everything over to the pedicure station. Everything seemed very dirty and unsterilized not my taste whatsoever. The water was piping hot and there wasn't even a scrub included. Probably one of the worst pedicures I've ever had. She literally did not talk to me during the whole service. Will never be coming back here too bad I went based off of the yelp reviews. They might excel at acrylics and all that fake stuff. I've been going to this location for YEARS but I'm sad to say that their quality and professionalism has dropped significantly since Libna and her husband moved away. I went to get a gel manicure done as a walk-in and was seated with a lady who I have never had my nails done with. My nails at the time were on the short side but definitely nothing extreme. The girl began to work and I kid you not, told me about 8 times, in Spanish, that she would have to work miracles and that it would be rather tough. She even asked me if I was sure I wanted a gel manicure! I tried to let it go being since she was the only available tech to do gel at the moment but WHAT A MISTAKE. As she did my nails, she did not let go of her cell phone for a moment! Texting, talking, checking her facebook! She also made my cuticles bleed multiple times (I know it happens, but not every other cuticle). Now I've had gel done MANY times before so I know how long it takes and the process but she definitely took her time. Again, all while telling me how she was going to work a miracle on my nails because they were "sooo short." When I left, I gave her a rather gratuitous tip for the terrible service (shouldn't have tipped her at all!) and even then, she gave me a look of disapproval. Clearly, 20% on a terrible job isn't enough! I ran out of there because I was cutting it close to where I had to be and didn't realize how streaky and uneven my nails were! Not to mention how my gel manicure began to chip after about 4 days but I refuse to step back into this place! Such a shame.
