I went to Five Guys tonight because I was too exhausted to cook after a very long shift. As soon as I walked in the door one of the employee's turned around and shouted, "We don't have any meat." I looked at her kind of confused because who gets barked at immediately upon entering a business? No "hello," no "sorry," no "here's what we do have" -- and then she yelled it a second time! A co-worker tried to salvage it by listing a couple options, but the damage was done; I turned around and left. To be crystal clear: this isn't about an out-of-stock item, it's about how customers are treated-- because to top it all off as I walked out, she said " WOW, Nice!" As if me leaving was the problem. Management should address basic courtesy training -- this level of rudeness is unacceptable. read more

Used to never go to five guys before this one opened in Yucaipa. Staff is always extremely friendly. I believe his name is Anthony, hopefully I'm right, but he welcomes us every time right as we enter the door and always makes sure our food is perfect. 10 years ago, Five Guys in NYC was recommended to me by many East Coasters. They also told me it was affordable. So I tried Five Guys in Redlands when it opened about 8 years ago. No exaggeration -- it tasted like eating dirt clods on hamburger buns. Zero seasoning in the tough, dry, overcooked meat. The seasoned fries tasted burnt and were inedibly salty. I was SO disappointed. I was shocked it could be so bad and still be in business. I complained to the manager, and he offered me a free meal to give them another try. I couldn't bring myself to eat that stuff again - even for free. When the Five Guys in Yucaipa opened, I kept hearing people recommend it! I gave it a try hoping for the best. I asked if they could cook me a medium-well patty instead of well-done. They said it was against policy. I was trying to keep an open mind, but I had the exact same experience. Tasteless meat, burnt french fries (with no salt at all). The bun disintegrated into a soggy mess after 3 bites... Apparently this is exactly the thing people love about this place. To me it tasted like backyard burgers made by someone who doesn't know how to cook. Good meat ruined. I've had lots of twice-cooked fries -- if they taste burned, the oil is too hot. I spent $37 for two small burgers (one with cheese and bacon and condiments, one with veg and condiments), a hot dog (blah), and an order of fries (hard, burnt-tasting, unsalted). I ate about a quarter of each item, and 10 fries. My stomach felt queasy, so I gave the rest to my husband. Never Never Never again. It is a mystery to me how people actually enjoy this food. Iron stomachs? To each their own. Maybe it reminds them of the food they grew up with, poor things. I will say that the staff at both restaurants are WONDERFUL. Friendly, energetic. He pretty much snapped at me for not ordering my bacon cheeseburger correctly. It's my first time going to 5 guys and I didn't know it's like subway where you say what toppings you want. Just what yucaipa needed! Burgers definitely beat N-n-Out burgers but the fries lacked. Ordered 1 fry with salt and 1 fry with cajun. Cajun was good but really salty. The salted fries were mediocre. Bacon milkshake had a good amount of bacon in it. Otherwise nothing special. Service was friendly. Restaurant was clean. Food came fairly quickly (only 1 customer ahead of us). I'd like to say, first of all, I've had Five Guys in Redlands and had never tasted a burger so good. When I noticed that they had a five guys in Yucaipa I was extremely happy and couldn't wait to try them. I went to the restaurant hoping to get another juicy, amazing burger and what I got was just the opposite. The bun was old, there was too much mayonnaise, the meat had absolutely no taste and there was a big glob of cheese and it wasn't even melted. Sorry Yucaipa, you didn't even come close to the Redlands' standard of burger. read more

Bun had dry hard edges, patties seamed smaller and lacked seasoning, but the worst offense was the $7.99 large fry that usually overflows into the bag. This time they barely filled the cup. I was on the road and stopped at the Yucaipa location. Two servers, and the place was deserted, right after the lunch hour rush on a Saturday. Instructions for how to order a burger seemed way too complicated. I was assured that the fries were really good, and it's nice to hear employees speaking well of the food. 1 Bacon burger, 1 Fry, reg drink. $22.00. The bacon was so fried it was disintegrated! Looked like the scrapings off the bottom of a pan, greasy and black. They told me that the bacon is made first thing in the morning and so if you eat a burger at eight at night you're getting bacon that has sat out since morning! Their tables were filthy, for $22. I think that put a tip in there they have clean tables! The whole time I was there no single person ever came out to clean a table. Hands down my favorite place to go in Yucaipa since it opened...I've been holding off on a review incase the service was a fluke, but this particular store has consistently exceeded my expectations on multiple visits... I have literally never had a bad visit at this location and I don't know who was working tonight, but they deserve a raise. Two gentlemen and a young lady on 8/30/23 at 6:52pm made a GREAT team and just exuded this infectious positive energy that the service world lacks tremendously right now. This is the second time I've gone to this five guys where I have received the wrong order. Please check your food before you walk out. I order a single burger and a drink. And this is twice now that I have walked out with stuff on a burger that I can't eat, and not the burger that I ordered. I understand the business has not been open too long and they have young people working there but if the ticket on the outside of the bag tells you what the burger should be inside the bag then put the correct order in. Last 2 times I've ordered here we did order ahead in the app. Both times had to wait 15 minutes at the establishment, so in reality the 5-10 minute estimate for my food turned into over 30, which is fine, but you shouldn't set the expectation if you can't deliver. Instead of the Yucaipa location sending me to the other location to pickup they offered to make my entire order at this location without hesitation. They asked I call the location and advise them of MY mistake and they started working on my order. My order at the Yucaipa location was 100% correct, made fresh, hot and made in no time.
