I cannot believe I'm giving this place a 5 star review!!! But yall - if I ever eat fast food, it will be here! What enticed me was a root beer float! Then I noticed they had fried shrimp, and I love fried shrimp! So I just ended up ordering a fried shrimp combo with onion rings & a large root beer float! I ate soooo good! The shrimp & onion rings were perfectly golden, not over cooked at all. The cocktail & tartar sauce were also surprisingly great! On top of good food, we received great customer service! Just happen to stop here while coming back from a trip. You don't often see A&W Restaurants unless you're out of the city and on a trip. This place is open 24 hours which is nice if you're in the area. They have a nice outside eating area and the interior is nice and clean. Service was good and their menu selection is typical American burgers, fries, etc. I stopped by mainly because of their root beer float. There's something about the ice cream they use with their original A&W Root Beer! It may be even better because it comes out of a tap versus a can. Either way, it's a great dessert or snack. I have never written a review for any Fast Food restaraunt , but the crew that works at THIS A&W really are amazing . Stopped on way back from Big Bear twice, and each time the front order staff are smiling, happy, and take the time to explain the menu. They redid an order for us that frankly was our fault for the incorrect order, but they cooked what we wanted super quickly with no drama . Food is great, hot, and the place is pretty clean. Super clean! There are new owners and a LOT of effort being put into this place. The booth area has all been re-done in the classic colors. The gentleman at the counter was incredibly patient while I was painstakingly reading the menu. Drive thru open 24/7 and inside seating at the diner closes at 10 pm. They have 4 large tables outside to eat your food. I Came through here around 1030 so the diner was closed unfortunately but I got to enjoy my food outside at the tables with the A&W mascot "Rooty" the Great Root Bear! The new French onion double cheeseburger was very fresh and tasty and I paired that with a Reese's Polar Swirl which was good alongside the chili cheese fries. I have to say the Reese's Ice cream and the chili cheese fries Tasted very similar to Weinerschnitzels but more fresh to say. This place is a blast from my past. I haven't been to a real A&W since the 90's back in Michigan. I drove 45 minutes to check this place out. The food was what you expected from A&W. Hot and ready ooey gooey goodness with chile and cheese. Service was fast and with a smile. And they didn't even forget to offer the frosted mugs for our root bear floats The interior was surprisingly clean given the neighboring area. Plenty of outside seating as well Oh and did I mention they are open 24 hours!!!! Well they are. Quick tip: bathroom is located outside so you'll have to ask for a code to get in. When I was looking for some food. I came across this strange restaurant called A&W. I was stoked on trying this restaurant because they claimed they were open 24/7. Late night gem! Very happy to find this A&W restaurant. Not only for the nostalgic feeling but for those late night cravings. There are a few places opened past 10pm , and even less that are open 24 hour in this area . A&W is true to All American food . My food was very fresh and hot, no one likes cold food. I was looking forward to dining inside but unfortunately missed the chance since they close the inside dining at 10pm. Outdoor dining area is available so after ordering my food through drive thru, I enjoyed my chili cheese fries and Reese's polar swirl on the outdoor tables alongside Rooty the Great Root Bear , A&W's beloved mascot! This is a very quiet area located on a major intersection (mentone Blvd ) so you can't miss it . Place looks very clean and maintained! Although I had a longer than usual wait time for my food I was please to know my food was cooked to order and staff is very welcoming. Great memories, when I found the A&W rest i was so excited. This location has a drive thu, and has a bigger menu than just the great ' ROOTBEER FLOAT! . The food is super great and you can buy A&W drinking glasses. There is also a mini stuff animals of the A&W Bear i got 4 . The service was fast you can also eat inside or out in the patio. It's not incredibly big but great for a group . This restaurant is on a corner and in a nice area not alot of car traffic . We just stopped by here on our way home from Oak Glen, and the service here was amazing! John and the whole team were incredibly kind and accommodating with us while this place was packed. We ordered a diet float and a regular one, and they couldn't remember which one was the diet so they let us keep the original and remade a float for us and upsized it without us even asking for it! The rest of the food came out perfectly. John and the other team members handled this rush of people with such kindness and paid great attention to every customer. Sometimes you have to go old-school and get an A & W Root Beer (now A & W Restaurant). Growing up I had very fond memories of Root Beer floats at these restaurants (sometimes more like soda stand versus a restaurant - but it was another era ....). Today it was hot, and the Root Beer Sassafras flavor was calling me. So I had a Root Beer Cream Freeze. Their saying is that it "Sips like a shake. Tastes like a float." That's basically true - I think it's more vanilla ice cream than Root Beer, but still has the flavor without the carbonation. It didn't miss the mark - it's quite refreshing. Not to leave well enough alone, I had the Coney Cheese Dog. You'll need the container or the fork to eat this. The bun didn't hold up very well with the chili and cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was a disappointment - marginal flavoring. The chili was better than expected but a bit salty. But the hot dog, by itself, was fairly decent - too bad it was masked by all the other flavors. Its casing had a nice snap to each bite, and the dog had the distinctive beefy, rich flavor. To shave a few calories, you can still get that Root Beer flavor with the ice cream mixes by requesting diet Root Beer. read more

This is the closest A&W from the Los Angeles area. If you are a root beer lover, definitely make a stop here! It's so much better fresh from the tap than fast food soda fountains or cans/bottles sold in stores. There's plenty of parking and the staff are friendly. Perfect place to stop by during a long drive and the summer. I did not have any food here as I was not hungry, maybe next time. I had a refill before I left the store to drink for later and it was still really good after hours sitting without the fridge. This A&W is a great spot to get some late-night food and floats/freezes. Since the "recent" change in management and staff, the food quality is night-and-day better than it was years ago. I would normally avoid ordering food and only get a float, but now when i visit, the float is basically just the desert. I typically order the Papa Burger, which would translate to a Double Double if are comparing to In-N-Out. It would be difficult for me to choose what burger I like better, which is even surprisingly for myself considering I am a HUGE fan of In-N-Out. The staff is always very friendly and quick with getting the food and drinks out. The indoor seating is a mixture of retro and restaurant-chain styling, so nothing that stands out. We've made this place a family outing anytime we go with extended family to Oak Glen, pumpkin patch, or big bear. the kids look forward to stopping for a kids meal and ice cream. For years and years the meal has come with ice cream as the prize. Today we were informed that although we are paying the same price for kids meals they don't come with them because the health department said they couldn't staple the coupons to the bag so they stopped ordering the coupons and they couldn't give us ice cream without the coupon and even though the menu board said the meal came with a special prize, we were told the board "hadn't been updated in 2 years" (But we've come in the last few months) and we didn't get the prize, a discount, or ice cream.
