All I can say about this is place is that it's one of the best burgers I've ever eaten and I am a pretty big burger fan. According to their menu blurbs, they use meat that has never been frozen. I don't know if they are killing the cows in the back or what, but it's worth it, because you can really taste the freshness. Likewise for the fries which are fresh-cut potatoes. It's one of those rare places where I don't feel like I'm just pounding empty calories into my belly with the fries. Make no mistake, there is nothing on the menu here that is gonna be great for your health, but at least if you do come here you'll say it was worth it to eat like crap for an evening because it just tastes so good. Also, the prices are kind of awesome if you think about it. For 2 people, it can easily climb up to 20 bucks, but that's if you get the regular burgers and each get an order of fries. Their regular burger comes with 2 patties (which I can't finish) so we get the "Tiny burger" as they call it and their small fry easily feeds 2 people (I see them put the fry in the bag, then dump almost another full orders worth on top of it). That's what my wife and I order (2 single patty burgers, 1 fry) and it's still more than we can eat. Total comes to something like 13 bucks...cheaper than McDonald's combos and with a lot less guilt. There's still a few better burgers in the area (I'm a Red Mill fan, myself), but the burgers here are good, they take card, the lines and parking aren't a bitch, and the prices are reasonable. We're not fast food people, so my review may not be completely fair. We went to Five Guys because we were running a bit late for a movie, and 5 Guys is right next to the theater - so we only had to park once. My husband is not a meat eater, so he ordered their take on vegetarian fare, which was basically a cheese burger without the meat. Meh bread, and goopy cheese - it's been nearly a week and he's still traumatized. Also, he requested jalapeno on the sandwich - one little ring. My burger was fine - a baby cheese. Tons of fries- and those are very good. Fast was the objective, but we should have known better. Always a great stop before a movie. The small Burger is plenty for me especially when all the toppings are complimentary w/the price. Including mushrooms,onion, jalop'ns, BBQ sauce, etc (if that's your thing). Fries are great too, hand sliced w/skin on again a small is like a large anywhere. Plenty for 2 adults & a child. We get takeout from this location once every week or two, and they always get everything right--sadly, not a common experience at restaurants these days! My husband is a 5 Guys addict and this location has never disappointed. I switched over to lettuce wraps about 6 months ago--they are sometimes wrapped loosely and hard to eat, but I think that's just part of the 'lettuce wrap experience' (don't eat them on a first date if you want to look dainty! HA!). I also get lettuce wraps at Red Robin, and though they are usually wrapped better, they are a lot smaller, and not as good, especially the burger meat. The reason I finally got around to writing this review is that the last time we went this past weekend, my 5 year old daughter decided she thought it was a good idea to ask the guy at the register if they had batteries there for her watch (she was on a mission and had been asking at all our other errands as well). Well, they actually tracked down a brand new button battery and gave it to her! It wasn't the right size, but she was so tickled that she had to show it to EVERYONE for days! How I heard of this place: The first I'd heard of Five Guys was a couple of years ago when I was told they had a limited selection of excellent-tasting burgers. Type of cuisine: Burgers and fries. Other fare includes hot dogs and sandwiches - limited to vegetable and/or grilled cheese. Ambiance: Simple, casual, unpretentious. The walls and floors are white with smatterings of red and black to accent the space in line with the brand. Five Guys (in this location at least) has customers enter into a line where orders can be placed. Customers are invited to sit or wait by the end of the counter for completed orders to be picked up. Once your food is ready, your receipt number is called and your brown bag of hot goodness is yours for the taking! Condiments are at the end of the counter inviting you to help yourself. What I ordered: Having just left the large plate of nachos unfinished, I wasn't hungry enough to place a large order of my own, but sampled the fries and the bacon dog ordered by others. One in our group ordered the bacon dog, one the little hamburger and the other a veggie & cheese sandwich. All three added an order of regular-sized fries. What I loved: I loved the large size of the cupful of fries and the bacon in the bacon dog! I didn't have an opportunity to sample other dishes before they were downed, but by the looks of friends licking hands clean, I have to say that the food was satisfying if not completely delicious! Of all the unique, quirky Seattle burger joints which are definitely great and amazing in their own way, I still have to say that Five Guys (a chain, yes, I know) is the best burger I've ever had. After years of Five Guys goodness in the Washington DC area, I realized I was doomed when I moved out to Seattle, as they had no Five Guys. Then to my wonderful surprise, before catching Sherlock Holmes, I spotted this place!!!! It was perfect: I was hungry and wanted to sneak in some burger goodness. I appreciate they slap on the calories right on the menu board, so I know what I'm getting. For a petite cheeseburger, it sure took longer than I would've liked (about 10 minutes), but the place was packed at their peak time, so I won't complain. Keep in mind the little cheeseburger is a single patty and the cheeseburger is actually a double cheeseburger. Same size of patty just more volume with the regular burger. Like Red Mill my stars are meant for something else but the burgers. I've been to this in Brooklyn...they call it the In N Out of the East coast. It's nothing like In n Out. Ugh. I SO wanted Five Guys to be amazing. I'd heard too that they are as good as In N Out Burger. I have to disagree. I wanted an In N Out experience in WA! Didn't happen. My craving for a decent burger has been satiated.... for now. I got the "regular" cheeseburger with grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes and relish. My Fiance got a plain "regular" bacon cheeseburger. We wanted to try both kinds of fries, so we each got the smallest size-- Each side was more then enough for 2 people. They do have a fairly smart marketing ploy. To label the "double" hamburgers as "regular" and the normal size as "little" definitely sells more large hamburgers. Firstly, almost impossible to find, b/c it is strangely IN the movie theater's doorway. When you do find the restaurant, parking is easy since there is 15 min parking spots AND a garage. The atmosphere was not even close to our favorite. It is LOUD, crowded, and hot b/c there is an open kitchen. Orders have to be made hastily to keep up with the pace. You can see the cooks and kitchen staff scrambling around. There is no good place to stand to wait for food, and numbers are barked out. We did not want to stick around longer than necessary. I had one of the smaller burgers, b/c I don't want to drop dead of a heart attack directly after my meal. It was a decent size. To be fair, I didn't order the burger cooked super well done like I prefer so maybe I wasn't astounded by the food due to that. Also, I didn't really get what I wanted b/c I felt too rushed to really look at the menu options. And no blue cheese? Crazy. I don't really dig fast food burgers, and this is what the 5 guys burger tasted like to me--VERY greasy. Also, I might like this place a lot if I didn't HATE french fries. This place wasn't so bad, but it's just sooo overrated. Their self-praise is really groundless. Voted best burger in America? By who, Bill from Wisconsin? Its a load. Admittedly, they're not too bad. They're pretty OK. But I can get a better burger from red robin, they're by NO MEANS the best burger out there. Their veggie burger sucks, also. Doesn't it take more energy to explain that a "veggie burger" doesn't have a veggie patty than to just have one available? It's great that their condiments are free and you can put them on a bun to make the veggie burger. But we're paying about the same as we would be for the burger, just to get a horribly incohesive sandwich. Regardless of your veggie choices, condiments are not intended as an entree. I LOVE THIS JOINT!!!! Nothing fancy, but FANTASTIC! My husband and i are always on the search for delicious burgers. We like to have an array of mouth watering options each with their own perks. Expensive, cheap, thick, thin, flame kissed or not... i love me a good burger. This place is great. The burgers are thin patty's with lots of delicious char. They are cooked all the way through, but are still incredibly juicy. I don't know how they do it, but it is really amazing. They have two size options, "little burgers", which have one patty, and "burgers", which have 2 patty's. I love to get the little bacon cheeseburger with everything except mushrooms (everything includes: lettuce, tomato, katsup, mustard, mayo, pickles, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms). we drive from Queen Anne up to Northgate often for these juicy babies! The Fries are awesome too. They are hand-cut, and the potatoes are locally sourced from the northwest and fried in peanut oil too! You can get them seasoned or plain...the regular size is enough for 2 (with some leftover) and the large can feed 3 easy (with some leftover)! for about $16 we get 1 little burger, 1 reg. burger, a reg. fries and a reg. drink with free refills... and we are stuffed!!! I'm a hardcore fan of In'n'Out burger in California - so when I text my brother "Five Guys gives InO a run for its money" you know I've found a serious contender for the top burger spot. I ordered the Cheesburger, which as you'll pleasantly (or horrifically) find out, is a double stacked burger. You'll need to order the 'small' to reg a 'regular' sized burger. The patties are fresh, the lettuce crisp, the onions not too overwhelming, and the cheesy ooey-gooey. Add in some cajun (or regular) fries, which are exceptional, and you have a great 1,000 calorie plus meal to kick yourself over later. Add in that it's right next to the Northgate movie theatre and you have an old fashioned date in the making. They have buckets of peanuts all around the store, and spuds just sitting out in sacks. A really nice touch. Now, if they only had burgers 'animal style'.... I'm torn, it's really a three-way tie between the Aurora Burgermaster, In'n'Out, and Five Guys. I'm not sure what people see in this place. The first word that comes to my mind is...overpriced. I think a "Little" (aka one patty) bacon cheeseburger was $5.50. You can add quite a few things to this burger, none of which are anything special. Lettuce? You get shredded iceberg. Cheese? You get American. Mushrooms? You get soggy cooked bland-tasting buttons. Onions? Atleast they cook them. Bacon? I don't think I could even taste that there was bacon in there... Even with our free add-ons, to me it tasted like a cheaper In-and-Out burger. We also ordered fries. Good grief, they give you a ton of fries for $3. Two of us split a "regular" (small) order and couldn't finish them - not even close. They are the real potato kind, which can be hit and miss for me personally. These were ok. Also, we ordered Cajun fries, but either we mistakenly got the regular fries or the Cajun had no flavor at all. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they must have made a mistake. The place itself feels like a clean McDonalds - kind of diner-like. Order at the counter and find a seat. Service was pretty fast and friendly. Probably a good place to bring your kids if you don't mind the prices. The drink machines are just cool. Yes, there are free peanuts - but is that really going to bring you into a restaurant? I've been waiting for them to open for a while. My sister went to the place in Renton and loved the fries. I actually think the burgers are what sells this place. Great beefy flavor and all of the condiments. Not many burger shops offer grilled onions on the burgers. If you aren't a big eater go for the little burgers. The regulars are huge. I'm a huge fan of french fries. These are some of the best around. They are larger than McDonald's and Fat Burgers skinny fries, so they have more potato flavor. Plus they are fried in peanut oil which gives them more flavor. I hate going to Red Robin for their over priced food and slow service. Kid Valley was great until they moved out of the mall. One of the best burgers I have had from a chain. To begin, they have some juicy burgers. All burgers are cooked to a medium well but you cannot tell the difference. You choose what kind of toppings you want (grilled onions? are you serious? YES) The fries are big enough to feed a fat kid and the free refills is always a plus. You will end up spending 9-10 bucks for a meal but its worth it. Be prepared to go for a run after your meal though. read more

It's no Red Mill, but it's still pretty good. Their fries are made fresh, from potatoes even! In fact they have bags upon bags of potatoes as a functional part of their decor, and the potatoes are from Idaho, I believe. The have a Cajon seasoning. I highly suggest it. Oh how I love real potatoes. And they come in a paper bag, which is generally full, and almost always more fires than I need, even when I order small. The burgers are bad, a little plain though. You have to specify, in a very specific manner, what you do want on your burger, which almost seems like a hassle, but whatever. One time I tried all the things, and I don't recommend doing that. Of the various standard toppings to choose from, the grilled onions and grilled mushrooms should be noted. I prefer raw onions on a cheeseburger that uses American cheese though. Also jalapeños are an option. I think they overpower the burger though. I've had all of those toppings on unique speciality burgers but when you just throw them out as toppings, it's not all that interesting. They chop their raw onion, instead of slice, and it makes me wish they had Chilli as an option. I think they would have really good Chilli fries and burgers. The first time I had the burger was better than the second so perhaps I just need to make sure I have the 'works' instead of the limited toppings I had chosen. The fries were pricey so if you will be sharing opt for the bigger size but otherwise choose the small one or forgo it all together as it is incredibly greasy. Oh. My. God. The burgers at this spartanly decorated place (red and white - the uniform colors and design of the Five Guys chain, according to my boyfriend from Five Guys' original 'hood) are great. What's REALLY great is the people watching. I loooooved watching the primal, meat-and-fries lusting faces as they waited for their order to be called. Bland, expensive burgers and a long wait. Every few months I forget how unappetizing these burgers are and order one, since it's just downstairs from my apartment, and I end up disappointed every time. The little burger is more than enough--who needs two patties, especially when they're dry and flavorless? In contrast, the bun soaks up all the moisture from the condiments and ends up disintegrating into a mushy, pasty mess. The fries alternate between good (hot, crispy, tasty) and soggy. If you get them Cajun style you get a ton of seasoning, to the point that you feel like you're eating a mouthful of grit along with your fries, but plain fries have no seasoning at all, so I usually take them home to put salt in them. I'd rather pay a few more bucks and go to the Ram at the mall... or save some and go to McDonald's. Better yet, support local businesses and go to Dick's. read more

Ok, so I finally made it here. After years of hype and curiosity. I was very pleased. I must admit after hearing all this praise for so long, you'd expect to bite into a treasure chest. It's not. It's only a burger. And a damn good one at that. If you take away all the hype and stumble upon this place on your own, it would knock your buns off. (pun intended). Just like an old fashioned greasy spoon with tasty burgers. Also love the fact that they are doubles unless you say littles. Just because the menu is simple and "special" does not mean that it's like In-N-Out. Pros: 1. The burgers are cooked fresh and you can add as many toppings as you want for free. 2. The staff was very informative when we had questions about the menu and sizes of the food. 3. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and a large was enough to feed all 3 of us. 4. Parking is ample as it is right next to the mall and the park and ride. 5. They offer free peanuts if that is your kind of thing. Cons: 1. The place kind of smelled like bleach. Like a bathroom. Sanitary but not what you want to smell whilst eating. 2. The gaudy signs stating they are the BEST in almost every aspect are hung throughout the entire restaurant. Not only are they rated the BEST in every state other than Washington but most of the reviews are at least 2 or more years old. 3. The layout is really odd...trying to maneuver through the people coming in, the people sitting down, and the people getting drinks is quite cumbersome. I was in there last night with my family and eventhough they got quite busy I feel the need to just say it was great. Your gm split my kids shake into smaller cups for us and your fry guy couldn't have made more perfect fries. So many perfect fries...We usually go to the ballard location as my sister lives there in urbana but we were in the area and it was well worth it.
