Aurora Ave is well-known for its plethora of Mexican food trucks (at least to me, what did YOU think it was known for?) El Camión stacks up with the best of 'em. Which is good, because you can't feasibly name your food truck "The Truck" if your food is trash. We were famished, so my dog and I were on a late night hunt for an Absolute Unit-Rito. Something that would take an army to demolish. After a disappointing realization that one of my favorite spots was closed for the night, little did I know that the stars were aligning for a real Guac-Ness Monster that was headed my way. I think that one of the truly special things about El Camión is that it's in the Home Depot parking lot. What's better than taking in the aura of home improvement before smashing some tacos? Let's get to the food here. I knew I was getting a burrito, but what type? It turns out that El Camión is serving up cochinita pibil, which is a rarity in Seattle, so I had to give it a try. They will also LOAD up your burrito with vegetables for $2. And I'm not talking about some skimpy little vegetables. We had some thick slices of peppers, onions, and even squash. This made me feel a liiiiiiittle better about the long term health effects of my burrito obsession. This may have been one of the heftiest lads I've ever encountered on my lifelong apprenticeship of burrito studies. If I could give you one piece of advice here, do NOT operate heavy machinery while eating this. It's meant to be enjoyed while sitting down. But what the meal lacks in structural integrity, it makes up for in flavor. As a sauce-boi, I applaud El Camión for their variety of salsas. This is completely necessary on a burrito of this size to cut through all of the fat. Major props to The Truck. Stop here after you get your new light fixtures for a good time. read more

This place only has outside seating so the ambiance is that of a outside area next to aurora so make of that what you will. The service was quick and friendly. I would definitely get it again! Near Home Depot. Don't skip this location. Tamales of unusual size -- absolutely delicious. We got pollo Verde tamales and two chorizo con papa tamale $4.88 each and four Lengua tacos. Amazing sauces -- try all seven. I love the habanero for the taste but it has KICK. There's usually a line and the wait is moderate. Be advised. It took about 10-12 mins for my food, and there were three orders before me. But there is seating (with some twinkle lights) so you can grab your food and scarf it down if necessary. read more

First time coming here and while definitely one of my top places in Seattle to get Mexican food. We got their barria tacos and their steak quesadillas. When we got the plates, we were shocked at how big the portion sizes were in. This could easily be split into 2 to 3 meals super worth it for the price and the flavors were so good in taste how much spices and love go into the dish. I would rate this place 10 out of 10 recommend this place and come again. They were also really quick for food and the workers were really nice. We went for an evening walk and stopped at El Camion around sunset. The tables, benches, barstools, and lights provided a beautiful setting for dinner. The close seating was cozy and gave it a bit of a feeling of community. The sauces were flavorful and there were many options, so that was a big plus. I got two veggie tacos, with beans added. The veggies weren't too flavorful and were a bit overdone. The tacos felt less like veggie tacos and more like cilantro tacos. It was a bit overwhelming, and overpowered the dish by quite a bit. The food was on the spicier side. After the meal I didn't quite feel satiated, just a little sick. The setting is great, but for me the food wasn't something I would stop by again for. read more

El Camion is one of my favorite spots for burritos. Some of the best value can be found here with huge portions for relatively low cost. I always opt for the El Camion Burrito because it's massive and filling but I really need to branch out because all their offerings are amazing and my friends have tried them all. Huge portions, honestly the most chicken I've seen on a street taco that cheap, and the quesabirra tacos my boyfriend got were an inch thick each. The food is always delicious and well prepared. It's interesting because the food trucks don't have a food truck style taste. After eating at various food trucks in Portland when the huge scene was booming, there was a specific taste that came from reheated or lightly cooked meat in which the quick reheat made the chicken dry or the gyro meat chewy. The fries all tasted like them came from Costco or a similar manufacturer. What I really enjoy about El Camion is that the old brick and mortar in Ballard in which you had the self serve salsa bar and the walk up counter, offers the same food truck quality. It's hard to find success in consistency. Prices, adjusted for inflation are always steady and I can feed my family for under $50 in a night out. Door dash is another story and I won't go there. Service is always great and I appreciate site the hard working staff and family members making the food magic. read more

This place came on my radar while I was watching YouTube videos. Chef Matthew Broussard was showcasing the best tacos in Seattle and this spot piqued my interest. I'm originally from California, Southern California, and it's been very hard an hit or miss when it comes to finding good taquerias and Mexican food. I came here on a rainy Sunday. I usually drive down 99 from Everett for many a different reason and have unknowingly passed by this place a thousand times. As you pull in an head down the angled driveway it's off to the left in a cozy nook type situation. You can't miss it. It's a food trailer that's been turned into an outdoor eatery that has quaint yet compact seating and decent enough parking. It gives a roughshod look but its grimy exterior adds to the experience. There was ample parking so I parked and hopped out. There was patrons and people waiting for their food and some already eating but no line and still enough time for me to decide if I was going to eat there, in my car or drive somewhere else. I opted for the third. As I walked up there was a picture showing specials to the right and a placard holding enough menus for me to snipe one on my left for later use. I had already done my research so the plan was to get tacos. And possibly a snack but tacos was what my business was that day. I ordered 5 tacos. I wanted a sampling of my favorite meats so I ordered lengua, carnitas, carne asada, cabeza, and tripas. I also ordered chips and pico de gallo. And I always round out my order with a Mexican Coke. The lovely lady let me know that because of the tripas taco it would be about 15-20 minutes, which was fine and I said no worries. Now I think I was a little early because I arrived shortly after opening so maybe that's why the wait but again it was not a problem. She gave me a little electronic notifier thingy to beep when my order was ready so I hopped in the car and just chilled. As I was rotting on my phone the notification came sooner than expected. As I walked around to the pick up window my food was waiting for me and she asked me do I want salsas. As I looked down they had a display of like at least 10 different kinds and I was hit with panic. I gave her a look and simply said "What's good?" She understood and said ' Verde and Chipotle'. I said let's do it and was served accordingly. I hopped in my car and decided to drive further in to the Home Depot parking lot and went left to a secured area by the garden portion. As I parked I realized my bag was heavy so I knew I would be satiated in terms of volume but was curious if the quality would match. I first pulled out the chips and pico. They were crunchy and made in house but weren't fresh. Salted yes but not hot. Not a big deal but a little underwhelming. The pico came in two somewhat large plastic ramekin containers. Packed to the brim. Somewhat , not sure how to describe but not as colorful looking as one would hope and not juicy. It tased alright but kinda disappointed. I ate the chips more without the pico than with. I then ripped into the tacos. They were huge. At least 2 and a half to 3 times the normal size of street tacos. Packed with meat and some looked over stuffed which was not a negative. Each had the corresponding meat that I ordered and not one was lacking or skimpy. They had the traditional onions and cilantro. Out of all the meats my favorite were the lengua and tripas. The cabeza and carnitas kinda didn't differentiate fro each other. Yes they looked different but taste wise I couldn't tell them apart. The carnitas were juicy and moist. Beyond tender but seemed lacking in flavor and the signature crunch, pending on if they were fried. The cabeza was almost like a machaca. I knew it was cabeza but again it didn't stand out like one. The carne asada was good. Great bite and texture and the added limes brought that classic flavor but nothing made me feel like it was the best. The lengua however was thick cut and c chopped beautifully. I knew exactly what it was and its taste was extraordinary. A very good cow tongue taco. The onions and cilantro with the limon and salsa made it go even higher. I was pleasantly shocked. And the tripas was crispy. Juicy and fatty with the best texture a tripas taco can have. It's one of my favorites tacos. I judge a taqueria heavily on their tripas tacos and heavily if they have tripas because not all do. On a side note the salsas were good but the chipotle has more kick than you'd expect, besides the familiar smokiness you are used to. I will be back to try more and I will take pictures. Give this place a shot. read more

Ok, this was more impressive than many other taco places I've tried in Seattle. This location of El Camion is something like a permanent food truck by Home Depot. There is a walk up window to order, and a separate one on the side to pick up. I like this, since it helps make the process of ordering a little less crowded and have a better flow than typical food trucks. We got four tacos: Pollo Mole- Very unique taco, and quite good! However, you need to be ok with the cinnamon/spice aspect of the mole since it stands out. Comes with grilled onions and avocado. Carnitas- Nice & tender. A bit bland. Pretty good but needs salsa to perk it up. Adobada- Delicious , abundant amount of pork cooked in red sauce. This was my favorite. It did have a ton of tomato on top, but I didn't mind. Shrimp- Enjoyed the toppings, but could've used more or bigger pieces of shrimp as it was kind of hidden beneath all the other flavors. I felt this was the most overpriced for the amount of meat in it. (Over $4). Also got an El Camion Burrito with cochinita pibil. The fillings of meat, cheese, rice, beans, etc were PLENTIFUL... but it got so sloppy. I want to be able to pick up my burrito. *Sigh* Alas, this one would not stay together- so we had to eat it with a fork and knife. The taste of the meat was great, but we wished it came with pickled red onions as cochinita pibil always has in my past experience at other places. Most of our tacos came with tons of meat for the tortilla size, which was awesome. When picking up your food, there is a display of about 8 salsas for you to choose from (I really wish I got a photo of this, but I forgot!) We enjoyed trying three of them. Chipotle was my favorite. Overall these tacos were pretty good... maybe my favorite in Seattle. The service was decent enough, the time the food was cooked was fast for how many people ordered before us, and I like the little outdoor eating area next to the truck. The first time I tried them (a few months ago), I was very happy, as they serve huge portions of lengua in their tacos and they had a great salsa selection (avocado salsa, chipotle, matcha, verde, and habanero to name a few). I would have given more stars, but the second time I went (today), I was soooo grossed out! We saw rats scurrying by the garbage area where the picnic tables were, and they went behind the bushes and under the food truck. Also, when we picked up our order and ate at one of their tables, we caught a bad surprise when we opened the bag - there was a maggot crawling on the edge of the foil that covered our plates!!! This was extremely disturbing and I'm really concerned about the cleanliness and freshness of their food now :-( Be very careful and observant when checking your food and take out bags everyone! Changed the review as the Owner called to make it right and say they prioritize cleanliness in the preparation of their food. WOW, I just experienced the worst customer service I've ever had in the USA. I eat tamales from here twice a week, they are so delicious. Last week I bought two pollo mole tamales from Roosevelt. I took a forkfull of the meat and noticed a hair in it, I pulled it out and noticed another, I took out about 5 long blond/grey hears out of ONE fork full of tamale meat. This was GROSS. I threw the tamale away and felt VERY sad, because I love getting their tamales as a meal when I don't have time to cook, but I am now grossed out by the idea of eating tamales from there!!! This is very sad. I am in Graduate school for counseling and it is final exams this week. I don't have time to write this, and did NOT have the time to go to El Camion and show them the hairs I found and return the second tamale I had bought. But I was nearby so I went and showed Esme the hairs. She told me I was lying and that I had put my own hairs in the tamale!!! OMG!!!! My hair is short and brown, and what kind of wierdo would plant hairs in a $4 tamale - does she think I'm trying to get $4 back?? I charge $$ an hour, I am LOSING MONEY to go and show them that I found hairs in their tamales!!! The best taco truck in Seattle- is what everybody says about El Camión. I don't know if it's true, but I can tell you that their veggie tacos are amazing and I'm not even a vegetarian. i was super surprised when apple maps sent me to home depot until i saw where the truck actually was! they have seating with fairy lights which was cute. it was also fairly crowded but not too long of a wait. i got el camion with no cheese or sour cream and it was super delicious. i probably ate less than half of it in one sitting. i also tried to finish the other half later in the day but got too full, so i would say this is a great deal for basically 2 meals. my only complaint is that their salsa verde is not super flavorful, but honestly you can just use more sauce and its fine read more

They moved it to Fremont and the quality went down. However this was my first time eating at the Aurora location inside the Home Depot parking lot and it was smackin! El Camion is my favorite place of Mexican eats here in Seattle. All of their locations are semi-permanent food trucks. Don't let that put you off. Their menu is broad with a lot of flavorful options. Everything from great street tacos to full plates like Chile Rellenos. Portions are GENEROUS. I generally have leftovers. Great taste, Americanized but what can you do? Service is quick and the people are always helpful and friendly. The Aurora Ave site next to Home Depot has a few tables and outdoor seating. Bonus-tip: They have a good range of authentic salsas. Experiment if you're not familiar with them. Your tastebuds will thank you. Hint if you see a bit of lime with your meal that's a good sign.
