I've lived in Seattle for a bit over half a year at this point and somehow hadn't stopped by a Dick's yet. It was finally time to give them a shot on for a Friday lunch. At 11:30, there wasn't much of a line and the employees started opening more registers to get our order in faster. They seem to have everything prepped and assembled already rather than cooking to order, so this is more fast food rather than traditional drive-in. It took literally 10 or 15 seconds for the cashier to grab all the food and hand it to us. To be honest, I wouldn't call this a drive-in in the first place since the window is walkup and there's no car hop service. Deluxe Burger ($5.75) - This is a pretty simple (small) burger with two patties, cheese slightly melted on top, and a small layer of shredded lettuce, mayo, and pickle relish underneath. The patties aren't charred much so they just taste like a normal fast food burger patty rather than having any caramelized goodness. The pickle relish is overpoweringly sweet and only slightly tangy. It makes the bottom layer a bit on the runny side. I would never get the relish on a burger again - it honestly ruins the flavor of the entire meal. (3/5) Fries ($2.95) - The fries come out softened like they've been steamed a bit perhaps. I wonder how long they had been sitting around before being served to us. There's no crisp at all and instead they have just a bit of a skin on the outside. The fries with the skin still on have a leathery chew. At least the interiors are very fluffy and they aren't over salted. I still prefer these over In & Out's though. Ketchup is extra. (3/5) I'm probably one of the few people who lived in California in the past and don't really like In & Out that much, but I would choose them over Dick's any day of the week... Honestly, it's Dick's. Consistent, fast, and always hits on a late night. Had a pleasant experience at this location, friendly service, efficient, and the green tin foil stood out for the deluxe (where they're typically orange). I don't think it was for any special occasion either, but worth documenting here! I also love the ice cream at Dick's as it's cheap, portioned well, and has basic flavors as well as unique favorites. read more

Quick and simple hamburger joint. It was convenient. We ordered 2 Deluxe Burgers, 1 cheeseburger, a order of fries, and a root beer float. Hamburgers were freshly made but on the smaller side. Fries were mediocre, oily and not appetizing looking. Root beer float was good. There isn't much of an area to dine at the place. Luckily we were taking it to go. They prepare everything on the other side of the glass so you can watch them making your hamburger. If we need something quick and simple will be back. Much better then McDonalds. read more

Coming from Spokane where we also have a Dick's burger, I was assuming it would be similar. Totally is not. The burgers come as is, so you can not customize. The burger was good, it had lettuce , tomato, sauce. Which the one in Spokane doesn't have veggies. And that's a bonus. Although, we didn't really care for the sweet relish in the burger, and the tartar and fry sauce tasted different than from home. Not sure if that's just how the west side makes theirs? The tartar and fry sauce came in prepackaged containers , where as the one in Spokane they makes their own. The fries were good, fries are fries. They weren't crunchy but they were good. Service was quick and fast and we were there very late at like midnight, there was only a couple other customers there. It's great that they're open late. got the deluxe and cheeseburger. overall, they were fine patties. I also got their french fries. i am going to assume that their style of fries are soggy and limp. The fries were ok for me, but it may steer away for others. i would say this is a slightly above average mcdonalds. If you are far from this franchise, i wouldn't really travel to see what the fad is. However, if you are nearby and were to decide this and mcdonalds, i'd go for this for burgers. can't go wrong with prices even though it has risen. read more

Again Food and service were faboo. But I can't understand a toilet seat covered in water. I really can't. I work out of my city vehicle all day at various locations and do not have easy access to a restroom. Up until recently, Dick's has been one of my go-to spots as it was clean, had parking, and bonus: had lunch! No more. Nothing changed this last visit except the counter was dry. Great place for some yummy fast food! I'd never had Dick's before moving to Seattle, and I'm so glad to have found this spot. There's easy, ample parking to start, but it can still get packed during lunch hours! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and service is insanely fast. I usually get the fries and a chocolate shake, and neither have ever disappointed. The fries are soft, flavorful, and piping hot! The shake is creamy, sweet without being overbearing, and incredibly delicious. If you're adventurous, try dipping the fries in the shake - they are the perfect combo. Longggg overdue review for this Dick's location! Used to go a lot for munchies when I was living nearby a few years ago. As a Californian resident, you can't really compare In N out and Dicks. Dicks is a lot more comparable to McDonalds. Food comes out right after you pay, since the staff just keeps pumping out burgers. This time around, we stopped by during COVID. Staff was all masked up. There was quite a crowd at around 9-10pm ish. Big parking lot. We opted for cheeseburgers and fries. I'm not a huge fan of their Deluxe burgers because of the sauce they use. Doesn't taste too great to me. Cheeseburgers are a perfect 6-7 bites. Fries are far superior to In N Out's fries. Girlfriend likes their milkshakes a lot (lactose so can't try :) ) Dick's is awesome for a quick bite or some late night munchies! This location definitely keeps it consistent! read more

I'm not going to pretend that Dick's is amazing or the best thing ever but I do enjoy it from time to time. I like this location because it *usually* doesn't get too crowded. I also like that they gave us the freshest fries last time we were there. I usually go with the cheeseburger and my boyfriend likes the deluxe. It's definitely no frills for those who haven't been here before. They don't really do additions/substitutions. You just go up and if you want extra anything, they serve it on the side. We just moved to the Seattle area and trying out all the restaurants that people recommend to us. Dick's was one of those places. A Seattle staple folks would say to us. We are always up for a good burger so we took it upon us this Labor day to stop by. Tons of folks lined up (socially distant of course with cloth face coverings). 3 lines to be exact and they were constantly moving. Their menu is simple offering burgers, fries and shakes (and of course ice cream too). Their set up is reminiscent of the old burger drive through places. Although this is a "drive in" you physically have to get out of your car to order. They have several different locations and interestingly prices differ by location. We ordered the Deluxe burger which had everything in it. There's also a Supreme, cheeseburger and a plain burger depending on how many toppings you like. I got 2 which was perfect. They're a little bigger than a slider but smaller than a standard burger. Prices aren't too expensive. People told me to compare this to In & Out and that it's possibly the best burger they've had. Unfortunately setting that expectation so high was simply not going to work. While I was OK with the burger, it did not live up to expectations unfortunately. Their special seasoning in there had a little cinnamon and maybe even some nutmeg which put me off a little. The patty itself was good and all the ingredients fresh. I finished eating everything but I couldn't really see myself going back. I think that a lot of folks who eat here have been coming by Dick's for quite some time. It's the nostalgia factor that I think keeps bringing folks back. I get it! I have a lot of those places in mind. Am I going to bring someone from out of town by? Every five years I try to give them the benefit of the doubt ('maybe I left the fries in the bag too long?'). And every five years I eat their food and am again flabbergasted as to why people love this place. This is consistently mediocre food ... and I don't mean compared to 'restaurant' food, I mean it's consistently mediocre for cheap drive-in food. The fries are always soggy, the burgers are greasy flavorless blobs, and the shakes are cut-rate McDonald's imitations. Seriously, go to any other local drive-in and there's a 90% chance you'll find better everything. But more than that ... this is Seattle! There are a hundred other amazing places to go. Solid and quick burger joint located conveniently in the Ballard neighborhood. Open until 2 AM; perfect for a late night bite. There are no tables available. I noticed a few people eating at the bar table styled edge on the side. Would probably be better to take it home or to one of the parks in the area! The burgers are made a bit ahead of time so you get your food almost instantly. The patties are small, so if you are fairly hungry I would recommend getting the deluxe which comes with two patties. I liked that the special included lettuce, relish and mayo. But there is no option to add cheese. The regular cheeseburger reminded me of a fancier McDonalds burger. Another Dick's location visited for many years, especially when The Homie was a small kiddo sitting in back of my former Jeep. Today is National Cheeseburger Day. Stayed home today because of a wicked cold, but The Homie requested that I stop by the Crown Hill / Holman Road location afterschool. Two cheeseburgers, two fries, a chocolate milkshake, and a hot fudge sundae for a little over $14. Tasty sundae to soothe my sore throat and a few fries. The rest nearly hoovered by The Homie....teenager appetites! It's an indie, reliable, fresh, and tasty whether here or from the other Seattle locations (Wallingford, Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, Lake City) and Edmonds. I like how they treat their employees well and contribute to many comnunity causes. Looks like by next year a next location will open in Kent. read more
