Haven't eaten at this location for quite awhile. I forgot and ordered a cheeseburger not a little cheeseburger. We also ordered a regular order of fry's. First of all the fry's were limp and greasy. It was a busy Saturday night dinner rush and there must have been about 10 workers behind the counter/kitchen area. Since I placed a mobile order I went directly to the pick-up area...where one of the lead staff person barks out "can I help you" in a un-friendly manner...I mention that I placed a mobile order and because we are both wearing masks and the noise from behind the counter, clear communication is virtually impossible...after finally understanding what I said, he barks out "please do not wait at the counter and step on the side" in a very un-professional manner...fortunately the two female staff that were packaging the orders and passing it out were much more friendly and courteous... Another un-professional incident that occurred on this occasion, but did not affect me directly, was the action of the person, I presume was in charge of this shift...calling her a supervisor or manager is probably not worthy...Apparently, one of the crew staff made an error on an order and it was not the 1st error of the shift...After she completes the credit with the customer she barks out to the crew "if I have to issue another free burger...heads are going to roll" which caused the crew to become somewhat shocked and afraid to do anything...And remember, this is an open kitchen where any customers within ear-shot of this heard every word of this encounter...you kind of felt real bad for the crew that had to work the rest of the evening with this female person in-charge... The staff here is always very kind and welcoming. The burgers and fries HIT every time! My family and I make a stop to grab some burgers whenever we're in town. For the most part the eating area is clean, minus the fries and peanut shells that customers drop and leave on the floor expecting mommy to pick them up. They have never messed up my order. As a compromise, three of us stopped in at Five Guys' in South Salem for dinner. We each ordered a small cheeseburger with grilled onions, and shared some fries. I have friends who RAVE about Five Guys'. I know that in 2012, a Zagat fast-food survey awarded "best burgers" to Five Guys'. I am afraid I just don't see it. To me, it's just OK. The hamburger bun seem damper or denser than regular white bread hamburger buns. The french fries are very good while hot, but as they cool, not so much. After years of TV hype, I expected better. The staff was friendly, helpful and informative. The free peanuts a cute bonus. But let's cut to the chase, the burgers. Ordered the single bacon cheeseburger. The buns were very dense and lacking flavor. The actual burger didn't have much beefy flavor, the bacon was well cooked, but it's flavor was kind of lost, and the whole thing was a bit dry. This was my first time visiting this chain and I was very impressed. I loved that you can customize your burger they way you like, with a choice of multiple patties and enough ingredients to leave no one wanting. I had mine stuffed full of the basics, with extra onions, green peppers and habeneros. I loved that they didn't scrimp on the ingredients; my burger was utterly stuffed and so full of fresh and juicy habeneros that my mouth was on fire by the end of the meal. This is the first fast food burger I've had in America that I would put on par with restaurant fare. The friendly cashier advised us to share a regular chips and I was very impressed by the fact that the staff filled the cup and then added several hot and fresh scoops of delicious extra fries in the bottom of our bag. By the way, I love throwing the peanut shells on the floor, but many people think it's impolite. Maybe add a sign telling people they must be thrown on the floor. Fries are important, but I am more interested in the quality of the burger than other paraphernalia, so I'll quickly outline some changes that would satisfy my taste buds. The buns need to be stronger and not like the typical white dough / sesame seed nonsense you get everywhere else. I want big buns, strong buns--buns you can squeeze and munch on without having them crumble. The integrity of the buns is very critical to a good burger. It holds everything together, and the buns are the first thing you touch. I would be willing to pay more for a more scrumptious bun. Buns with a nice, supple texture and elasticity are more enjoyable, and I really like a cornucopia of seeds baked into the bun. Dave's Killer Bread makes an outstanding representation of the kind of buns I want to nibble. The tactile experience of touching the buns is also important and a memorable sensation. Larger seeds help in this regard, and they also create a symphony in my mouth while chewing. The lettuce is junk. I'm sorry, but it truly is junk. Adding a spinach option is perhaps the quickest remedy; however, upgrading to a better species of lettuce is still advantageous in the long run. The tomatoes are decent, but the inclusion of other types, such as yellow cherry tomatoes, would offer some nice color tones and a unique taste. I like a good variety of tomatoes. It should be a tomato party for ultimate satisfaction. The same could be said for mushrooms. A little variety in these areas would differentiate 5 Guys in a very good way. The combinations of tastes and beauty are enhanced by offering more species. It also allows for partnerships with local farmers who grow these items. This marketing angle has been offered by Burgerville, but I don't like Burgerville and consciously avoid them because of their inability to cook to order. Their partnership propaganda seems more like a feel good agenda than an effort to increase quality. Speaking of cooking to order, I don't believe 5 Guys does this either. It must happen. I don't care what the laws say. I want a medium rare burger, regardless of the meat having been frozen or not. I will sign a waiver if necessary to get a cooked to order experience. Ultimately, I encourage you to grind your meat on the spot and make the process visible. People want to see how their food is produced, and you can really stand out by grinding meat in-house. You would get a lot of bonus points for this change. I hate bacon, but your bacon could also be improved. I honestly don't care what you do with the bacon because I hate bacon almost as much as I hate asparagus. Nonetheless, I still can realize when I have a good piece of meat in my mouth, and I'd recommend better bacon for the other customers that actually like it. Cooking to order and better buns are the two most significant improvements that could be made. Adding varieties of tomatoes and mushrooms is a cute move and would be appreciated, but the lettuce and spinach are more pressing matters. Grinding the meat in-house is a move that would distinguish your brand immediately, and others would be quick to copy you. Take care! read more

The fries are RFG. Like as good as can get. The burgers are solid, made fresh and outstanding for fast food prices. My only gripe was with the way the vegetables were cut (yes minor and I am a whiny snob). What should be sliced was diced and vice versa making some of them difficult to keep in the buns. Compairing 5 guys to the likes of In and Out is a tragedy for In and Out. 5 guys burger's taste wise,is superior. Period. Not as good as Ma ona in Hilo but very good. Thier fries are amazingly seasoned and they load it up like a fat man going though the buffet line. The atmosphere. All the staff seem like they enjoy the job therefore they are enthusiastic and pleasant. Eveerthing appears orderly and clean. You can see the cooks frying your burger so u know there is nothing amiss. The price. Honestly a mid mark in my book. But considering a normal burger is 2 patties and is in excess of a half a pound. I've only been to this location once, but I get the "gist" of things when it comes to Five Guys.
