My family and I are burger fans. I prefer the mid-west, greasy-spoon, bar type burgers that I grew up eating in a local bowling alley or the corner burger bar not far from our house. The ones cooked on a flat grill with onions slapped together with a bun that was steam toasted on the same grill... Five guys are doing it right. I've not been disappointed here. The team in this location are great and want to see you happy, my kids smile and laugh with the team every time we visit. I'm a fan but would love to see them drop the "Singles" cheese and step it up and offer real aged cheddar, swiss, provolone, or even bleu. That would just elevate the experience some. Heard a lot about this place since it's basically In-N-Out's competitor. Decided to try it out one weekend, but I wasn't too impressed. My burger came out with a semi soggy bun and anyone that knows me knows I absolutely hate soggy buns or soggy bread in general when eating a sandwich. It's disgusting! I forgot what I ordered, but I ordered a burger, some fries, and a milkshake. To be honest I really liked the milkshake, but the burger and fries not so much! The fries are so soggy too! (...yep, you guessed it, I hate soggy fries as well!) Don't think I'll be coming back. The price for the food is not worth it either. Almost $25 for 2 burgers, fries, and a milkshake? Mistake #1 = accidentally put tomatoes in my burger. Mistake #2 = accidentally put a full cup of fries in my bag! I'll take that all day! This place was packed on a Sunday afternoon. We waited 20 minutes for our order. It's worth the wait, because we were chomping on the free peanuts the whole time. They have the best tasting burgers and bacon. You tell the cashier exactly what fill-ins you want, so your burger will taste perfect. The soda machine has 100+ flavors, and 4 Gold's Peak teas to choose from. First impression was fantastic! I am an interior designer and I was very impressed with the decor. We went up to the order counter and checked out the menu. The prices were very high so I only assumed that the meal was going to be amazing. The cashier Kaitlin W was super friendly. But that's as good as it got. The eating area is open to the kitchen so you can see the cooks prepare the food, which at first I was excited about. But soon realized that the cooks were loud and annoying, talking about personal stuff that I did not need to hear. We got our food quickly. It was just okay. But for the price we paid it was not okay. Last time I eat at this restaurant. In-N-Out is the way to go. P.S. Just like a person in another review mentioned about the bathroom, I had the same experience and suffice to say there was no table/chairs blocking the door to use the bathroom. I was confronted rudely about it and got my food thrown at me. My experience was on July 4th, the burger was burnt and when asked to remake the burger, the guy refused and offered a refund. My wife got shouted at as well for not wearing a mask (she has a medical exemption) and she comes out in tears. I call the 24/7 customer service number and ask for a callback from the management team. One week passes and I get a call back today. The manager mentions that she's called me earlier, but I have no record of calls until today. So in spite of me insisting that there's no table or chairs blocking access to the rest-room, she keeps saying there's one. I said I was absolutely positive and it is also corroborated by the other guy who mentioned the same in his review. Still keeps saying I was wrong, for someone who wasn't there. They should have remade the burger and not offered a refund. I've been to plenty of Five Guys locations and never have had any issues with my burger. It does seem that there's a high turnover at this location along with poor cooking skills judging by the other reviews. Unless you are absolutely very hungry and this is the only store open, please avoid this location like the plague. Picked up a DoorDash order here and used the restroom. The manager knocked on the door and told me restrooms were closed. I came out and apologized as the only indicator was a sign on the door that said "not open to the public" which I had thought meant only for customers. My mistake and I appoligized. She then goes on to say well that's why the table was there blocking it. There was no table there and when I told her that she rolled her eyes and walked away from me and talked over me. I understand I was in the wrong for using the restroom however she was very very rude and unpleasant. Burger was good, but not $9 good. Fries were absolutely horrible. I like the thicker cut, but they were soggy and not crispy and a strange dark brown out the outside, not golden brown. I have a faint memory that I've been in Five Guys twice before but I don't remember ever actually eating the food. Probably went with some friends to pick up food or something. So needless to say this has been on my list for quite a while. The burgers aren't exactly fast food grade cheap. It's definitely no In-N-Out. The reason why I'm giving 5 stars is because of the amazing service. True to my procrastinating ways I zoomed through Poway and made it just 4 minutes before closing (sorry to the staff). Didn't even bother parking perfectly straight and stormed in. Before all else I asked them if they were closed. The girl sweeping the floor was a tiny bit reluctant as I held my breath waiting for an answer but the girl at the cashier was so nice and sunny as she welcomed me to the counter to take my order. Props for that level of professionalism. Shout out to Monique! Honestly had they turned me away I really wouldn't have blamed them but she was more than happy to walk me through my order. Got the order to go because it was the only decent thing to do. I got a cheeseburger "all in," jalapeños, green peppers and an order of Cajun fries. While it does seem kind of pricey they throw in a bunch of add one at no cost. Mushrooms in my burger? Yes, please! The nice gentleman behind the counter made my burger swiftly as I had a chance to take a closer look at the menu. Free add ins for the shakes, too? Now I'm intrigued. I almost consider getting a shake but then talk myself down from it since it's already 10PM even though I haven't had dinner yet. Can't let myself get away with too many excuses. Con: Fat girls like ranch with their fries and Five Guys has none. I also am not a huge fan of having my fries served in cups because they seem hard to reach for my fat chubby hands. It wasn't until I got home that I realized how full I was. At that point I was just waiting for Mr. X to come so that we could share our meal. Burger came out 3 inches thick. Toppings were plentiful. Cheese was melted (+1pt), FRESH jalapeños (+2pt). Bun is a little sweeter than In-N-Out. Mr. X asked me how I would rank the different burgers and honestly I feel like this is the type of burger we would make at home if we ever took the time to make it happen. Loaded with extras. For giggles we sat near the register yelling at each other while customers shouted at order takers who screamed at staff who then yelled back at customers waiting for their food. So sad.. I was so excited to try the place and the burgers!! I instantly thought "awesome, Peanuts!" Then was pleased to place my order and find the toppings added were all free. when you look at the menu you'll think wow, it's more on the pricey side for a fast food place, BUT you have to think about how each burger comes with so many toppings! from grilled onion to mushrooms! normally grilled mushrooms are extra cost, but at Five Guys, it's part of your option! The burger is good. I never had a dry patty; it has always been cooked to medium for me. The buns are regular buns -- nothing too special about it. The fries are not bad either. Real potato fries, slightly thicker cuts than in-n-outs. And again, i never had soggy fries from Five Guys. You also have the option to have regular fries or cajun. I do prefer regular fries. If you like peanuts, they have boxes of peanuts for you to snack on while you wait for your order. You'll find both indoor and outdoor seating here. read more

Five Guys is delicious and wonderful! If you want a good greasy burger that tastes great, this is your place. Five Guys offers so many condiments for your burger. I heard someone in line complain that they don't serve salads, but it's a burger place, so not having salads is a pro in my book. This particular location has a lot of outdoor seating (great since it shares a parking lot with Petco, and we are not the only people that grab a bite to eat after buying dog food). My order took longer than usual but I put that down to the crew having to deal with an influx of online orders and a new system. 2. This one was the deal breaker for us. We noticed a large number of teens (6 or more) who were obviously not related hanging out in the patio area unmasked and sharing drinks. One worker joined them qhen hw finished his shift.. They seemed to be waiting for him because they all left soon after. Finally, at no point during either visit while dining on the patio did we see any worker wiping down the tables even though some were catsup smeared. Burgers are good, not great. Very greasy which leaves a stuffed full sensation that lasts for a day or too. Staff is good, and it's nice to a successful business open in that location. In my opinion the cajun fries are the best menu item. Not crunchy and liberally dosed with cajun spices. People often compare Five Guys and In N Out. Understandable, they are two of the best "fast food" burgers you can get. But while In N Out is a good *fast food* burger, Five Guys is just a good burger that happens to be served in a fast food setting. This comes through in the price differences. Five Guys is on the expensive side, comparable to the price you'd pay for a burger at a sit down restaurant but with all the convenience of fast food service. The quality of Five Guys burgers is above and beyond other places like this, and while it might be more than I'd like to pay everytime I feel like a burger, im willing to deal with that once in a while because they're so good. Went there last night with a friend. we both ordered a 'small cheeseburger' (it is not smaller in diameter, it is a one patty burger), one lettuce wrapped, one w/ bun, a med. order of cajun fries and one shake. the total was over $30! But I waited to see what the food looked like. The shake was thick and delish, a 'double shake' (not sure what that meant), but it was very good. My burger (lettuce wrapped), had a very small meat patty on it. I was shocked. For a $9 I expected a stupendous burger... all the signage saying 'best burger'. When I ate it the lettuce fell off. It wasn't 'wrapped', it had a few pieces around it, so eating it was very messy. It had ketchup, onions, pickles. When I ate it, the burger being so small, I did not taste the beef At All! Very sad. Fries were plentiful. Smaller ones were stiffer and crunchier, larger ones were drooped over. Good flavor, but I would say they didn't pay particular attention while making them. I recently came back from a trip to Europe and if you've been to Champs Elysses in Paris, you'd know that Parisians are crazy for Five Guys. After a great experience at a Five Guys in a whole different country, I came back home craving Five Guys with their hot and tasty burgers and fries and even better salted caramel shake. Unfortunately, Five Guys here at home is such a disappointment. Came in on a weekend night around 7p and the restaurant had just a handful of people. The walls are covered with Five Guys in the media flaunting how good they are. The ads are blown up in your face, but don't let them fool you. The food was mediocre at best. The burger was cold from the bun and even throughout the meat. The cheese was still extremely just-out-of-the-fridge cold and not melted at all. The salted caramel shake had no hint of salt to taste at all. The shake tasted like a vanilla shake with cheap caramel sauce. Saving grace are the fries here which were also somewhat cold but still flavorful. I don't think I'll be back to this location. read more

Said they were open till 9. I get there at 8:30 the sing still says "Open". I walk up and the door is locked and they workers inside are shaking their heads like they are closed. I walk away and call them just to ask if they closed early and I also let them know the sign is still on and says "open". The guy literally replies "okay" and hangs up on me. I took my amazing boyfriend for his first five guys burgers and fries trip. The burger still checks out it's still fantastic and everything you want in a good burger. The staff was very friendly. I loved the fact they gave me fresh sliced jalapeños they had quite the kick. My hubby loved his burger as well said it was really good. The fries on the other hand.......they ain't what they used to be. We got a hot but soggy(some of them not even fully cooked) batch of fries. It was such a shame and a big let down especially since it's my hubby's first time there not to mention the signs on the wall mentioning their "crispy fries" or something of that nature. The person on the fryer cooked them for a minute then had them sitting we were guessing par cooked then finished off when a customer comes in?? That's all well and good but at least don't over load the fryer and actually "COOK" them then that method would work.
