Was my first experience going to the stand is nice at here's one very close by to where I live. Took my father-in-law and my husband here to eat lunch. There's actually a lot of different options. Not just burgers here. My father-in-law got the teriyaki bowl and he really liked it my husband got the burger and I loved it as well. I got the full size of the chili cheese fries, even though it when it came out, it looked like it was only a half size. What I like about this place is that they have a whole list of free sauces that you can request a heat places that charge extra for sauces. They also have an extensive list of milkshakes and beers. The service was nothing special as you order at the counter and they bring out your food. It looks like a normal upscale burger joint or just regular American restaurant. Had such a great experience at The Stand! Tyler was our waitress and she was super sweet and attentive the entire time! I couldn't decide what to get, so I told her to surprise me and she definitely did not disappoint!! She picked the Tex-Mex Steak Bowl and it was absolutely amazing! They also have a huge drink selection, plenty of seating both inside and outside while also being dog friendly! What is valuable for this burger joint is its consistency. I visit this spot casually maybe 2-4 times a year since I have been living in San Diego. The staff is extremely welcoming and attentive. When the staff brought over the sweet potato fries, she said to me I also added a side of bbq mayo because it goes well with the fries. I came here for lunch last Sunday with my daughter, puppy, and group of friends. I like how they have a large covered patio that is pet friendly. Now that I'm a puppy mom, I've been gravitating towards restaurants that are pet friendly. I came here with my dad a few years ago and we both had burgers and fries and thought they were really good. For this visit, I went the healthy route and ordered the Kale Quinoa Crunch Salad with grilled chicken added. I didn't care for the salad, as the parmesan cheese was so overpowering that it was the only flavor I tasted. My daughter got the Chinese Chicken Salad, mint chocolate milkshake, and sweet potato fries. She liked her salad, except the chicken was a bit on the dry side. My chicken was moist. One of my friends got the Short Rib Grilled Cheese sandwich and was disappointed that the sourdough that was supposed to be crunchy was actually very soggy. She enjoyed her onion rings though. The rest of our party enjoyed their food. One friend ordered a burger and fries and was very happy with her order! It's ok. Enjoyed the outdoor seating, but the picnic tables are the stickiest tables. We tried to wipe them down, nothing worked. It's a lively vibe here. Would be nice to get some drinks and watch a game. Everything here is à la carte, meaning that you have to order each item and you have to order fries separately and this does add up in costs. Visit June 2026: So don't laugh...but at a place that advertises burgers and sandwiches, I'm going to rave about a salad????? They have an amazing Kale Quinoa Crunch Salad. Kale, mixed greens, crispy quinoa, almonds, and avocado. I topped it with seared ahi. I felt so healthy. Ahi was fresh and seared perfectly. Get a fork full of everything for a great bite. Then I also ordered sweet potato fries to balance out that strange feeling. Damn those were good. My daughter ordered the Sweet Pepper and Steak Salad: marinated steak cooked medium, corn salsa, greens, wasabi quinoa furikake, and crispy rice noodles and a yuzu miso dressing. She loved it. It was very crowded even on a Thursday night! We showed up hoping to catch happy hour, but the line was so long that happy hour ended before we could order... boo. Really like this place -- it's always clean and has a ton of great options. I find myself stopping here often, especially when I'm passing by the nearby Home Depot. I usually build my own meal, and when I'm trying to go for a slightly healthier option, I get a double grilled chicken patty with double American cheese on a wheat bun. 5 stars for the very generous couple at the bar that helped us get service here. (This is a self-service joint, folks.) We were novices and they gave us their seats at the bar when they left. What a relief we didn't have to stand in the food line to order food! I did lose my drink to the dump drain in the transfer to the bar seats but the bartender re-made it on the house. Seriously, without this generous couple, we would've lost both our drinks, and our table while waiting in the food line. I understand it's called "the Stand" for a reason and that full table service is a thing of the past, but it's confusing how to navigate it all. Oh, and you have to clean our own tables! I ordered the Stand for delivery for lunch, so not sure on any real service or ambiance, thus 3 stars. I ordered the Tex Mex Steak bowl, and it was fine. I can appreciate the attempt, but seriously it's 3/4 rice, hardly any corn and beans, and they can't even mince the cilantro. All of this separate from the abysmal amount of meat in the bowl. The chipotle sauce is sufficiently spicy to provide flavor, but still disappointing. read more

You start by ordering at the counter and they bring your food out to you. The servers were easygoing and nice. My husband and I got the onion stack burger, the southwest chicken sandwich, chili cheese fries, and the short rib fries. The burger and the sandwich were delicious. The burger was nice and juicy with a good bbq sauce and crispy onions. I really liked how the sandwich had different toppings that you normally don't see on a sandwich, like tortilla strips, corn, and beans. I got the guac on the side because I'm allergic to avocado so the chicken was a tad dry but tasted really good still. It had a really nice grilled taste to it. I felt like both of the fries were just okay. They were a little soggy being covered with toppings and honestly I think the regular fries would've been better with the extra sauces we got on the side. The sauces were really good and I love that they aren't an extra cost. My favorite sauce was the Meyer lemon aioli and my husband really liked the sweet chili aioli. The server let us order as many sauces as we wanted and brought them right out to us. I really enjoyed my experience here and I would definitely go back. First time visiting the stand today because it was recommended by some family members. Right away there is lots of seating inside and outside which is great. Their menu is huge! Lots of option is great in my opinion. Shane was really nice and gave good customer service, he answered all our question since it was our first time there and he was very thorough in explaining which direction to follow to get drinks and then flow out to the outdoor seating area. I really liked that. Great food, super fresh and lots of flavor. I personally really liked my miso salmon bowl & it was huge! I couldn't finish it all. We used to come here regularly when it was the GRUB Burger, so it is hard not to make comparisons. Overall, the food at The Stand was tasty and prices were reasonable. I would definitely come eat here again if I am in the neighborhood. - French Onion Soup Burger ($13.25): This was the best and most unique burger on their menu. The bun was so soft and fresh. The meat patty (which we ordered well-done) was juicy and packed with flavor. The additional au jus was an explosion of savory umami broth. I definitely would recommend that everyone try this. - The Onion Stack Burger ($12.75): This was a yummy burger too (same flavorful and tender meat patty, soft bun), but nothing too special compared to BBQ cheeseburgers at other restaurants. I was debating between this one and the Havarti shroom burger, & I kind of wish I had tried the shroom burger instead because it definitely sounded more interesting. - Onion rings regular ($4.99): Very crunchy batter with tender onions. We ordered an abc burger, chicken club sandwich, large side salad, large red ginger green beans, sweet potato fries and lemon meyer aioli, and an orange cream soda float.
