This place is awesome, i've had the burgers and fries from the other locations but i have to say that this is my favorite one by far. They always make our order right and the fries always come made awesome, and abundant. The other locations especially the one in huntington beach leave a lot to be desired if nothing else. Though like their other locations it costs about $17 bucks for 2 people with 2 burgers and i side of fries, i know this place is worth it. They have all the toppings you want at in-and-out but that you cant get there. Five Guys makes a good burger, but I think it is unfair for anyone to compare to In-N-Out (which, I'm actually not the biggest fan of). Five Guys seems to be about the toppings - In-N-Out is all about the raw, no fluff burger. Five Guys is pretty pricey ($12 for a soda, double bacon cheeseburger, and small fries), but the options and quality is appreciated. The amount of toppings is admirable - I particularly appreciated grilled mushrooms, BBQ sauce, and BACON!!!! The meat was succulent and juicy, and when paired with the topping, it was euphoric. The soggy bun that comes wrapped in foil - not so hot, and the only detractor. I will commend them for their french fries, which are larger, wedge cut, and can be ordered with Cajun seasoning. You get peanuts while you wait - if you can't appreciate that, you either have allergies or have no soul. For me, if I want a no frills burger, I will go to In-N-Out. If I'm willing to spend a little more and gush on the toppings and fries (which I am usually willing and able to), Five Guys has my vote! read more

I have a split review on 5 Guys. On the one hand is the food. I love their hamburgers. Without a doubt, the burgers are absolutely great. Like you made them yourself! (Presuming you can cook :)). The fries are also good and you get plenty of them! The soda fountain gives you so many choices you cannot go wrong. Plus, free peanuts while you wait. Who could ask for more? If you like hamburgers, then get on over to 5 Guys. The food verdict: 5 Stars on the food!!! On the other hand, there is the price issue. They charge a premium for what you receive. I recognize that the mandatory minimum wage drives up expenses, and prices for consumers, but 5 Guys appear to run a tight staffing model. So, it looks like they are good managers of their labor costs. I have to take a tricky step at this point - I "presume" they similarly run tight controls on food costs as well. That leaves the rent expense and I note this is not what would be considered an excessively high rent location (like, for example, Beverly Hills, CA). But, nor does it seem like it can draw thousands of visitors as they walk past it, either (this is not a high foot traffic location). Factoring all this together, my opinion is they could be offering lower prices. So, the pricing verdict is: 2 Stars. My over all rating is 3 Stars because I really, really, like their product. First, I have to admit that I'm biased. I think In-n-Out is the most overrated burger joint in the US. Five Guys has, hands down, the best fast food burgers in the business. I frequently travel for work, and I've been enjoying their food for years. I was happy to see this franchise make it's way out west. The patties are fresh and huge (unlike In-n-Out's tiny burgers...), just like you'd make them if you were grilling on your patio. Yes, you will have to wait a while for your order to be completed. That's because they're making your food as you wait, unlike the vast majority of other fast food establishments. If you're in a hurry, hit a drive-thru somewhere else. But if you want to sit down and enjoy a really good hamburger, give Five Guys a try. I'd you don't like it, you can always follow the herd of sheep back to In-n-Out. read more

the hype surrounding 5 guys killed it for me. i mean, it's just "ok". i got the cheeseburger with Mayo, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Ketchup, A1. it was cool that all the extra toppings were free. but i don't want to come to a place and have to decide what comes in my burger. i'm no chef. i just want a juicy burger and you should have perfected it already for us. the only positive thing i've noticed about 5 guys is the quality of the meat being used. it is better than in-n-outs. but it makes more sense because it costs more. also, it feels weird watching people cook my food. the kitchen is open for everyone to see. which is a good thing i suppose. i also got the cajun style fries. which were just ok. enough free peanuts in the store which would make dumbo cause a scene if he were allowed inside. i'll come back, but my first choice will still be the #1 combo at in-n-out. animal style. with a lemon-up to wash it all down. read more

I agree, not the same as in n out. I actually do NOT like In N out, but that's a different story. Went right before 11am sunday, and we were the 2nd people in line. By the time we ordered and sat at our table, the line was already to the doorway. What I liked: Lots and lots of free toppings, including grilled onions and mushrooms. You also get free peanuts, but I didn't have any. Patties were juicy, you get 2 with a regular order. Burger was big and filling. Cheese perfectly melted. Outdoor patio where we ate with our yorkie, and she sat on the chair, no problems there. What I didn't like: Foil wrapper steams into the bread, making it instantly soggy. I think paper would be better. Bun not toasted at all. If they toasted it a bit, it would be crunchy for a few bites at least. First bite was already soggy. A bit on the salty side, even for me. Add ons were not evenly distributed. One bite was pure pickle. $5 for a burger? I would rather go to Fuddruckers for just 50 cents more and a way superior burger there. The fries weren't bad, I liked the cajun seasoning. Our fries were crispy, not soggy like what others have said. The order size is big, after eating a big burger, we couldn't finish an order (sharing it). For about $15 for two people for lunch, I would have much rather have spent it at Fudds or even Fatburger. I probably won't be coming back unless they give some sort of coupon or somthing. Bottom line, is if it were cheaper, I would come back, and I could overlook the other issues. read more

Decided to hit up Five Guys for the first time while in Orange County for a concert and was pretty happy with my overall experience. The options for the burgers and the chuck it self are better than most fast food establishments...even In and Out. They also let you snack on peanuts while you wait for your food. Another plus would be offering vinegar among all the other condiments. I actually hate it but my girl loves it so anything to make the lady happy! My only issue would be that I ordered a bacon burger and it came without bacon but not that big a deal. I was actually so hungry that I didnt complain...so that is my bad. I really liked the fries even though I see some people complain about them I think they are tasty and the seasoning was just right. Just remember to order "Littles" if you are eating by yourself or if you are not a huge eater. A regular fries is just not right for one person unless you can really eat that many potatoes. I have to say that I am a fan. I have heard reviews from both sides of the spectrum on this joint and I have to say, it's a great burger. Albeit, they are more expensive than In-N-Out but they do have more toppings and it does come with 2 patties that is sure to fill. Their fries are good (although a small order is good enough for 2 to share). I went on a Saturday night and they were quite slow, which is a plus for me because we got our order without too long of a wait. Five Guys is a place full of hype that I wanted to experience. First off, In-And-Out is in it's own category. These two places should not be compared, In-And-Out is the king of traditional burgers. Five Guys is a different fruit because they emphasize on custom burgers. I ordered a bacon burger with mayo, ketchup, hot sauce, grilled onions and mushrooms with fries. I did my entire order online so all I had to do was pick it up. The burger was made exactly to what I asked for when I was punching it in online. It tastes great and I immediately position this above Carl's Jr. The fries are some of the best you can get out of a fast food burger joint. So this sounds like a 5-star review right? The online order was great since at times I don't like to deal with people in general and I don't have to take out my wallet either. This is missing two stars mainly because the patty was well done similar to Carl's Jr. Most people would think it's too well done, but it's tolerable. Another star was knocked off because it is nothing extraordinary. It is a consistent burger that is probably at the best in terms of fast-food (sans In-N-Out). I definitely recommend this place to anyone that needs a quick fix with something different. I took a trip south to go to Disneyland for the Halloween party and decided to check this place out since I've been hearing so much about it. We placed an online order which is cool. It's better than calling in a order and having to be on hold. I had a little cheeseburger. I liked that I had a lot of options for toppings. however to me there was nothing special about the burger. My friend and I split the cajun fries which were ok. They tasted like they had used season salt with maybe some cayenne pepper. I had heard so much about five guys this past year that I finally had to try it out for myself. I order the cheeseburger with bacon with a bunch of toppings and fries and a regular drink. It came out to a 11.50 which I thought was a bit pricy for a fast food burger The burger itself was honestly nothing special. The meat was cooked to a well-done and it did not have much flavor at all. The tomatoes were not very ripe and the lettuce was whatever. I asked for grilled onions, but they were nowhere to be found. The bun was also average at best, rather comparable to burger king......I can eat a lot and had a hard time finishing this burger because it was okay at best. The fries on the other hand were good. I liked the special seasoning they had and they give you a lot of them. Overall Five Guys did not really impress me at all. The burger itself was rather normal and cannot even be compared in the same category as In-n-out or even the Habit for that matter. I also didn't like how they had no special sauce. I am not sure why people rave about this place so much especially when you have an In-n-out that is down the street which is ten times tastier and half as cheap. Came here on a weds during lunch time, took about 30 minutes to get our food. The line was out the door and aroud the building!! It did go by sorta quick, and they do give you peanuts while you're waiting. The mini burger is a regular burger, the regular burgers have an extra patty. So if your a girl get a mini burger. Something I liked about this location that hasn't happened elsewhere is that they reward you for being exceptionally nice. A friend of mine saw a cell phone sitting at an empty table and brought it up to the counter, it turned out that it belonged to the guy ordering at the register next to her. He'd set it there to save the table, so my friend took it back to the table for him. The lady at my friend's register said, "Thank you for being nice." and she got her order for free! I'm not sure how often that happens or if it's a company wide thing, but I thought that was pretty cool. I gotta be honest. Other then that, I have a bit of an irrational thing against Five Guys because they're an East Coast chain trying to sholder their way into my beloved In-N-Out's turf. That being said, they're actually quite different from In-N-Out. They're more expensive, but there's more variety on the menu. (Hot dogs with bacon and cheese? Oh man... Why do you DO that to me?) They also have free peanuts in the shell for you to nosh on while you wait. I think, in the end, if there's a Five Guys and an In-N-Out next to eachother, I'm going to In-N-Out (they have shakes after all), but when I'm in the neighborhood where some of my friend's live and there isn't an In-N-Out near by but there is a Five Guys? Not sure why people would give this place 3 stars for a burger joint because compared to other fast food places, this sets the bar high. Solid 4 star rating as the burgers taste like you just grilled them in your own backyard. The size of the burgers are large but not fuddruckers large. You get unlimited condiments on your burger but be advised, the more you get on the more it tends to turn to mush. The fact they have mushrooms here is a HUGE plus. I did not realize that the "little hamburger" meant a single large patty vs the "hamburger" which is a double patty. Very good burgers as they easily beat all of the fast food chains but I am still partial to In and Out. 5 Guys tastes different from In & Out because they use Peanut Oil. If you have peanut allergies you must avoid this place. The fries were very disappointing but not bad. I just had high expectations as people said how good they are...They aren't. Great burger. Cooked perfectly, toppings galore at no additional cost and the staff is attentive and friendly. I've eaten here a dozen times and the consistency is always been there for me. I would prefer eating a burger from here over in n out almost 7 days a week and I do love in n out. My only issue is with the fires. I wish they had better fires or atleast more sauces to offer for them like thousand island and ranch dressing which would help out a ton for me as I am a condiment guy when it comes to my fries. Best burger hands down. I'm a SoCal native and longtime In-n-out fan, but after having this on a trip to DC I came back a converted man. I love it with everything (great onions and mushrooms) plus jalapenos - try doing that at INO! About the only thing missing is avocado, but I'm sure that wouldn't fit in their inclusive pricing. Luckily, they've just started opening locations in OC (can't wait for a South OC location) and I had to introduce my wife to this experience. Two bites in and she agrees that it's the best. That's after mocking me for months about nobody being better than her beloved In-n-out.
