The second we got in we were greeted by one of the girls working the grill. She was very friendly, even more friendly than the person who took our order. While we waiting for our food she was very communicating with her coworkers and I could hear her where i was sitting, so I knew our order was going to be correct. She obviously knows what shes doing and she did a good job. She would be one of the main reasons I go back. She wasn't up front so i had to ask another worker for her name, but her name was Janaya (Something like that). Came in on opening day and got their baby cheeseburger with mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce and bbq sauce. Also, got their Cajun fries to share. The total for a burger and large fries was over $12. The burger was decent but not constructed well. All the mushrooms were in one side and onions on the other side. Definitely not worth the price. The fries were floppy and way way way too salty even for Cajun fries! We ended up throwing the fries away because we couldn't handle the salt. Bottomline, go to in-n-out. read more

I usually like 5 guys but I had a horrible experience at this particular location. We went on a weekday evening and there were only two staff members in the kitchen area making orders. There was a medium sized line but it took over half an hour for us to get our three items. Then, when we got home to eat we realized it was completely the wrong order. Not only that, but the burgers we did receive were cold and stale as well as the fries. I'm not opposed to eating at the 5 guys chain, but I'm not likely to eat at this location again. read more

This place blows. The only thing it has going for them is the food is fresh. Customer service is severely lacking. Orders placed online are ignored and neglected until you arrive in the store where they tell you it will be just 5 minutes so you agree to waiting (took 20 minutes) because you've already paid online because you thought the dinner rush hours here would be busy but I guess not and it's obvious why. Food is over priced considering how many other food places here in town we can get with fresh ingredients. First time me and my boyfreind came here. Super super friendly staff, the extra super was added on purpose because the staff was awesome. UPDATE: I gave it another try and am glad I did. The burgers and fries were much better and the noise level was much better. The prices are still a little high. Went to Five Guys on opening day and was a little disappointed. The burgers were just ok. The fries weren't crispy. It was expensive. Not a great combination. First I must say that I've been a huge in and out fan for years. That being said, this was a very good burger. The fries were good, but not great, little soggy for my taste. The coke machine was out of Coke, Diet Coke and root beer. The staff all greeted me when I entered. The were sincerely friendly and helpful. Leslie took my prefer and led me through the process. She was great and is an asset to the business. My only complaint is the price. I paid $16.75 for a burger fries and small drink. Granted their regular burger is a bit larger than a double double, but not worth the $10 difference between a five guys combo and a number 1 at In and Out. First time here, great customer service. They walked us through the menu and were quick on getting our meal together. I ordered the small cheeseburger (small=1patty, regular=2 patties)and regular size cajun fries. Fries are served in large portions and seasoned perfectly. I shared with my son and still had left over fries. Prices are good for the quality of the food. Banana and coffee milkshakes are delicious and were not too sweet. They have free peanuts while you wait and have seating outside. Will definitely will come back! read more

Everyone always raves about Five Guys, but I really don't see the big deal. Burgers are pretty expensive for fast food, however you get a lot of things on it. Tonight was my 1st expierance ordering from here. I'd say this is close to the top of my "I'll never try it again list". The buns the burger was served on was soaked in grease. I haven't been impressed with the five guys in merced. I have been to other five guys in other locations and have been satisfied. The one in Merced just doesn't have that quality. The first time I came here, I ordered a double cheese burger (containing two patties) and they forgot to put in the patties. The prices are way too high for the quality of the meal and it is not worth it. Five guys has lost my interest. If you want a good burger in town go to inn n out. We found out about Five guys while in Reno, and the hamburgers were great. The price was very reasonable. And when we learned that there was a Five Guys here in Merced, we decided to check it out. It was a major disappointment. The burgers had no taste. My roommate ordered onion on his burger, and he couldn't taste let alone find it on the burger. The price was $28 here in Merced, instead of the $18 in Reno for the same thing. This Five Guys is giving the franchise a very bad rep. read more

Wow! I do not need to look any more for a GOOD Burger, I had the Cheese Burger and it was a 5 Star burger! I also had fries and milk shake which are the best. Just as important the 2 young ladies and the one nice young man were very friendly, professional. Smile a lot, well just excellent employees, Yes left a nice tip too. Will definitely go back. Everyone raved that Five Guys was the best Burger joint ever. I'm from San Jose, CA I moved to Merced 8 years ago. They opened up a Five Guys in San Jose right after I moved and all my friends and family I still have there bragged about how great five guys is. They all swore it was better than in & out burger so I was excited when I saw they were going to open one here in Merced. I was beyond disappointed with my dining experience. The moment I walked in I thought it was waaaaaaaaayyyy too small to be a burger joint, they have boxes of peanuts stacked all in the way you can't tell where the line to order ends or begins. But that's not the worst part. It is extremely expensive! Most expensive burger joint I've ever ate. Almost every person in line complained about how expensive the food was. The cashier promised me it was worth it which was a lie she also told me a large fries would feed 4 people. It only fed two. They have no combos so you have to pay for everything seperate. It was close to $50 for 3 of us to eat & that was with 2 small burgers 2 regular burgers & only 1 large soda to share among 3 people & 1 large Fries to share. We normally pay a little over $16 when we go out to eat at In & Out Burger. As for the food it wasn't that bad but it wasn't worth the money at all. I've eaten a better Hamburger at red robin & paid less too. In & out burger is waaaaaaaaayyyy better than five guys hands down! Nothing compares to In & Out! I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry In & Out burger!!!!! Sooooooooo soooooooooo sooooooooooooooo sorry for betraying you! It wasn't worth it at all!!!! lol! Love this place !!! I came when they first opened and they had yet to perfect their technique and flavors. Today it was perfect. The customer service was amazing!! They made us feel very welcomed. Went today with a friend the burgers were good very good you can have anything you want on it mushrooms grilled onions cheese steak sauce barbecue sauce mayonnaise mustard ketchup cheese and jalapeños and the jalapeños are fresh jalapeños not pickled that was the best burger I put them up there with in and out the place just opened this was The third day they been open it's clean you can have peanuts to eat and not everything's all over the floor or anything and it was so crowded and they had good looking milkshakes didn't get one this time but will next time just you get a milkshake if you want to pay five dollars for a milkshake but anything you add in it is free read more
