I guess the suburbs weren't used to being able to order a burger their specifications unless it was at a sit down joint 'cuz that's the bonus people exclaim about. I guess it's a good burger. It's better than the golden arches or the box or the King and the Jr. but compared to a Barney's it's not all that. Sigh. I came here on my lunch break to get a burger and some fries. I love Five Guys, so this review isn't negative because of the quality of their food. It was fine and on par with other Five Guys that I've had before. However, the service was SO slow, it took me around 35 minutes to get my food after I ordered it! It was ridiculous. There were only 3 employees working all the roles and it clearly wasn't enough. It seems like a lot of people were there on their lunch break as well and it was clear that everyone was getting impatient. Great place for your customizable juicy burgers and cajun fries! Gets super busy at peak lunch times, but great for a yummy, cheap dinner since they close at 11. I always get the cheeseburger with grilled onions, mushrooms, lettuce, and BBQ sauce. All their burgers are well done and are always juicy. They also have kosher hot dogs (toppings optional), and vegetarian options as well. There's something for everyone! My first visit to the Five Guys did not disappoint. I can see why it's been called the East Coast version of In-and-Out burger. A simple menu with quality ingredients. Hand formed patties with a lot of flavor, and a plethora of topping options including grilled mushrooms and jalapeños. Fresh cut fries cooked to crispy perfection. The place was clean and the staff is friendly and efficient .Free roasted peanuts, as an appetizer, while waiting on your burger order is just an added bonus. Alright, alright. Besides the interior decor there's no comparison to In-N-Out!! The burgers and fries are completely different!! Can someone explain the peanuts?? I took my daughter to Kennedy Park (5/6/12) which off Hesperian Blvd. in Hayward and I noticed the 6 month old Five Guys burger joint next door. After a day at the park I decided to give Five Guys a try because I have heard wonderful things about their burgers. * Great French fries (better than in&out) * The hamburgers were cooked perfect + good quality meat. * They are very good but quite different than in&out burgers which has a bigger bun, tomato, lettuce & onion aspect to their burgers * In&Outs burger is great - but not superior to Five Guys - they are equal in quality. * We also ordered the Hot Dogs and they too were excellent. Generally, I am not a big fan of burgers but on those special occasion that I do find myself wanting to butter myself with with a week's worth of kcals in simply one meal, I'd believe Five Guys burgers are one of my top choices. It's pretty good, but not amazing. The burgers I've had there seem to be a bit dry because they fall apart. It is good quality meat but they need to season it better - the patty itself doesn't have much flavor (it's more about what you add to it - I usually add lots of veggies, bacon, and mustard to make it less dry). The cajun fries seasoning is good but sooo salty and there's just too much of it. Yes, it's really good at the time, but I always end up SO thirsty afterwards. Also, the fries are really inconsistent. We've come here a few times and sometimes they are cooked well (crispy and fresh) and other times they are undercooked (tastes like biting into an cold, undercooked potato...yuck) and soggy. So take your chances! And my biggest pet peeve about Five Guys is the lack of milkshakes! How can you have a burger place without milkshakes?? Boo. I'd still pick In-n-out for a fast food burger, but this place is a little closer to home, less busy, and they have online ordering...so we come here more often. Didn't know this place had finally opened, so I stopped by to see what all the hoopla was about. There were about 5 people in line ahead of me, but the place was packed and all tables filled with people eating or waiting for their food. By the time I got to the counter to order, I looked around at the door and the line had extended to about 15 to 20 people behind me. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger for myself, a little bacon cheeseburger for my daughter and two orders of regular sized fries. The "little" burgers are the same as the regular burgers except they come with a single hamburger patty. The regular burgers came with two patties. Had I known this, I would have gotten the regular burger. The price came to $18.00+ (this did not include a drink or anything extra - just the two burgers and fries). Though very pricey, the burgers were very good. The burgers come standard with mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup and mustard. You can also get it with relish, onions, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A.1. Steak Sauce, bar-b-que sauce and hot sauce with no additional charge. The regular size fries come in what looks to be a 12 oz cup, and they add an additional cupful of fries into your bag on top of that. So, I guess you get what you pay for. I will defintely come here again, and again, and again! This place may put their nextdoor neighbor, The Cheesesteak Shop (one of my other favorites) out of business!!! If the menu wasn't so pricey, I would give it 5 stars. But no two burgers and fries is worth $18 unless I'm being served at a table. read more

I've always had the regular burger that comes with 2 beef patties and this time i had EVERYTHING on it. It was really good! This was an ok burger. I liked that it came standard with lots of toppings. It was HUGE though! I was a rookie so I just ordered the cheeseburger, which has two burger patties but if I go again I will order the "little cheeseburger" which I'm assuming is just one. They get thumbs down for the jalapenos. When I added them I was expecting the marinated peppers but these were actually fresh, sliced peppers and they didn't add a lot of flavor to my burger. Also, the patty could have used some salt or something. It was pretty bland. Granted we used the Postmates delivery service, so that was at least half of the problem. What I want to speak about in this review is the absolute horrifying "food" this restaurant turns out. Barftastic could describe it in one word. The lettuce wrapped burger leaked through the bag and the bottom fell out. I do not feel this is the driver's fault. Couldn't you place the burger in a water-proof wrapper? That's not where it ends. There was literally a quarter cup of mayo slathered in a clump on the burgers. So gross! My husband's burger had a bun, but was equally as sloppy. Mayo again, too much! Lettuce and tomato were soggy and limp. So unappetizing! Fries were soggy and were packed with more than 10 ketchup packets. Blech! I get it. You're taking your chances with 3rd party delivery, but damn I never thought it could be this disgusting. For $30 for 2 burgers and fries delivered, it should be much much better. Save your hard earned $$. I can now say I've had five guys, but never again! read more

Ok so let me tell you what I think about this place??? It's so delicious lol I had been wanting to try this place for so long. So let me tell you what I experienced at this location. Ambiance: The setting is inviting it clearly gives you the directions to the cash register and the bright red colors contrasted with the white is a great combination that invites people to stay in. The pictures show the history of the burger joint and the sacks of potatoes and boxes of oil that divide the dining room from the order line is a great addition to give the place a little extra. Food: The menu is simple 4 normal burgers, 4 little burgers and hot dogs fries and drinks. The burgers are so juicy and cooked fresh on the spot. Plus the addition of grilled onions and mushrooms is a great topping for any burger. The sizes are huge I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was so big I loved it. I asked if the large order of fries was enough for two and I'm so glad I did. The portion is so big that one person can finish the frie'ness goodness lol. Service: The service was quick and great. The young lady at the cashier was engaging and asked me what toppings I would like and when I got stuck she named them all and was very polite about it, I was like sweet! Never again, Hayward Five Guys. The other night, I saw Daym Drops' review for Five Guys' bacon cheese hot dogs. In his video, the hot dog looked amazing. I had an errand to run in Hayward today, so I excitedly stopped in for a hot dog. I've been to this location before for a hamburger and remembered that I was disappointed, but couldn't remember exactly why. I hoped that their hot dog would give me new faith in this location. I ordered and payed with $2 bills. The cashier held the bill up and looked at it and said that he didn't think he would be able to take it. I laughed because he was either joking or didn't understand how "all debts public and private" works. A few minutes later, my order was ready. When I unwrapped the hot dog, I was surprised by 2 things. First, the bun was completely split in half, so it was like I had one openface hot dog sandwich and one openface bacon sandwich. Next, there was no cheese. I took the dog back up to the counter and a couple slices of fake cheese were added. I love five guys but every time I come to this location it seems like something is going wrong. They ran out of patties one time so only served hot dogs. I came today on a Saturday for lunch and they are not accepting cash and ran out of fries. Apparently management isn't running this place correctly, they rather turn their guests away at the counter than making money. Tried this out for the first time and I have to say that I was amazed. When I first entered the restaurant, they had checkered walls similar to what In 'N Out looks like. As my girlfriend and I stood in line, I was wondering why there were large bags of peanuts just sitting there. I found out that they were free to eat while we waited for our order. Awesome! I had the double cheeseburger and it fascinated me on how many toppings I can choose in my burger. I was impressed that they even had mushrooms. When I got my burger, it was stacked like a deck of cards with everything placed nicely in order. The steak fries were crispy but also meaty in the middle. Every time I bit into the burger, the cheese, ketchup, grilled onions, and the mustard will drip out from the bottom. I was holding the burger in one hand and I could not put it down! I was scarfing it down while munching on the fries and I could say that it was an animalistic experience, yet the burger was clean, fresh, and hearty. I have to admit that this defeats In 'N Out in any way possible. While In 'N Out patties are puny and flimsy, Five Guys are hand-crafted which means that the patties are bulky, which means more meat. Everything about this restaurant has impressed me and I will not hesitate to go back here again. Personally, I'm mixed on this place. Like almost everything in the Bay Area, a good hamburger place are a dime a dozen in this place and I feel you can get a better burger for cheaper at some of the local mom and pop burger joynts. However, where FIVE GUYS tends to stand above the rest is the fact they give you a TON of free toppings where other places would charge you for them. The burgers themselves are quite tasty, and you have to give this place a SUPER high-five for using only fresh organic ingredients. But, FIVE GUYS has a serious problem with salt! They simply use too much of it! Not on the burgers, but on the fries! Our fries were so salty that we almost had to throw them away because our taste buds were going numb! Also, another issue you need to be aware of is that people who have allergies to peanuts SHOULD NOT COME HERE.
