We travel out of our way to stop here every so often as we and our families have enjoyed Casper's for many generations, but today will be our last visit to this location. Menu prices on their menu in store did not reflect what we were charged. When asked the worker why we were charged so much they said they rang up our combo differently but it reflected the same price. Here's the breakdown of what we ordered: 1x Chicken combo + Cheese $10.59 + $1.00 1x Chili Cheese Dog $8.39 1x Bag of Chips $1.59 Tax should be $2.21 Total should be $23.78 We were charged $27 something. As we ate inside we punched the numbers from their menu board into a calculator and were in fact charged nearly $5 more than what we should have been. In addition, their online pick up prices are much higher than their menu on the wall. Alas, we paid more than the heightened online prices.
Local hot dog chain that serves some pretty delicious hot dogs! It's a pretty dated, establishment, but I feel like that makes its personality shine through. There's parking at the side and a decent amount of booth and counter side seating as well. The workers were very friendly and welcoming and I really enjoyed that. We got the Hot Link with the following toppings: tomato, onion, mustard, and relish. They even offered to cut the Hot Link in half since we were planning to share it as a snack. The Hot Link was decently spicy, not a super strong kick but hit the spot with all the other toppings and condiments on top. They don't skimp out on them either. I'd drop by again next time when I get the chance!
My guilty pleasure, forever. Whenever I drive past Hayward, there's better than even odds I stop by this wonderful establishment. There's a reason why this place is basically a local establishment. First, the service is super-fast, attentive, and great. They'll quickly ask you for everything you want on and not on the hotdog (though for me, the typical answer is that I want everything on it). The hot dogs are made warm and hot from their contained hot dog containment device. Second, the hot dogs are just really good. Each of them is flavorful - and I think at this point I've had every single hot dog on the menu. My favorite in particular is the hot link - it's actually pretty hot! They told me it was pretty spicy and they were right - definitely has a kick. It's also very convenient, since they put all the condiments in for you and you can obviously request which condiments you want and which one you don't. So it's actually something that can be eaten to-go. Pricing is more or less affordable and fine. Comparable to what you'd pay at most fast food restaurants if not slightly less, but with really a higher tier of quality. Outside of Costco hot dogs (which are pretty much not meant to make money, they're famous loss-leaders meant to entice people to go to Costco), these are definitely some of the best hot dogs you can get at this price point. Highly recommended anything anyone is in Hayward!
After trying the other hot dog place that starts with a K, it was time to try here. I ordered a Casper dog, which was a pork beef blend and an all beef with chili. The pork beef had a nice snap and the all beef was very large. The chili was mostly beans. Overall, the staff was very nice however everything lacked flavor.
Casper's has always been my all time favorite Hot Dog spot. Especially probably because I grew up on them. They got the Perfect snap and the Perfect Flavor! Not a lot of them around anymore so when I do pass by I can't help myself I have to get One!!! Pink's in LA smacks But Casper's is Still My all time favorite and My Go To!!

Was in town so decided to stop into a Caspers. First time for a Caspers restaurant, but not new to the Casper dog. My dad loves Caspers hotdogs and we can't get them where we live. We both got the Original Casper dog combo. Comes with a bag of chips of your choice and a drink. The original Casper dog comes with onion, tomato, mustard, and relish. I am not a fan of relish as I do not care for the sweet flavor, but you could not even taste it was on there. I did test it out and it is a sweet relish, not dill. We also got a bowl of chili with cheese and onion. The staff was very friendly. I love that there is no discrimination and our elders are still able to work. The place was an older building, but it was clean. We came in right after 12pm on a Saturday and it was busy! There was a line out the door. Most appeared to be regulars.
I'm giving three stars because service is usually good and the ladies are polite. The last two times they didn't have enough beef dogs. I bought the two they did have which I found weren't cooked all the way. When I bit into the hot dog it was a little rubbery. I called to let them know to be more careful. They offered to replace them but I told them I would just boil them myself. Once they were fully cooked the dogs curled up a little and they weren't rubbery.I've been going to Casper's for over forty years and this is the first negative experience.

The interior of this location is so great and feels like stepping back in time because of how nicely preserved and maintained everything is, including the classic menu board. The menu is somewhat on the smaller side; there's nine different dogs to choose from and all come with tomatoes, onions, mustard, and relish unless you hold any or all of them. Any of them can be made into a combo (chips and a drink), and they offer a couple of other things like milkshakes and a chili bowl. Simple and concise. I got the chili cheese dog and kept the mustard and onions, held the relish and tomatoes. Had to go in with a fork and knife because there was so much chili and melted cheddar and it was great. Nothing super spectacular or original, just a tasty dog. The chili was nice and on the spicy side. I thought the onions might be caramelized but they were raw and diced, so be aware if you don't like raw onions (I'd hold those next time). I'd definitely come back here again. Most dogs are around $5, the combos are $8. No fuss, just good food and nice people in a fantastic vintage space.
I am a sucker for a good hotdog and Casper has great hotdogs! This location is our go to in my household, the staff is always funny and witty and I appreciate their humor. When I was there the OG staff answered the phone and stated, "yes we're open but we're not here" that had me cracking up! I went with the Casper hot dog with mayonnaise, mustard tomatoes, onions and jalapeños. I appreciate the really amazing fresh ingredients that are cut right in front of you. My partner went with two hot links with cheese and tomatoes and those were also amazing. I appreciate how they steam their buns to perfection. Please continue to support this gem in Hayward
Always a great choice from a local favorite! I don't come that often and I should come more. The staff is very very friendly! The food is consistent. Caspers that hasn't changed their recipe ever since I can that's remember. Today I had the Casper's dog and a bowl of chili. Both are very yummy! There is some seating locations inside as well as a parking lot. If you didn't want to park on the busy street. This location has been here for as long as I can remember. And I love to see that they still keep their tradition going! read more

It is Saturday, which basically means it is mandatory chili cheese dog day for me. I stopped by and grabbed my usual chili cheese dog and a regular cheese dog, and they totally hit the spot. The bun was soft, and the tomatoes and onions were fresh and the relish added the right amount of tang. Everything was put together in a way that only a good hot dog spot can pull off. I keep coming back for a reason, and today reminded me why. read more

First time stopping in and was eager to try these dogs out. The spot looks very retro, I dug it! Ordered the Polish dog with all the fixings, and it was pretty good! Worth trying at least once, swing by and check 'em out. read more

I love Casper Dawgs , Hell I grew up on them. This Casper's in Hayward is Awesome. Its like going to a Time Capsule in the 60s or 70s . Its Clean and Old School !!! I had a Craving for a Casper's Cheese Dawg so I rolled to this location . There's plenty of parking in their Parking lot. So I Stashed my Whip there and rolled in. I was Greeted by the Counter Person . She was Nice and Friendly . I order 2 Cheese Dawgs with the Works To Go . The Counter Person Skillfully assembled my Dawgs and had me out the door in a few minutes . When I got home , I grubbed on the 2 Cheeses Dawgs . They were Delicious !!! Hooooooooowling for a Casper's Dog in Cali! Tonight I had a Super Quarter Pound All Beef Casper Dog! I had mine fully loaded, making my hunger pains go away! Totally satisfying my cravings as a Hot Dog Lover Gone Wild! This iconic Top Dog House, has ruled the Bay Area for as long as I can remember when I worked here in the Bay Area, back in the late 80's. All I could think about upon my arrival back into the Bay Area was getting to Casper's for that super crisp bite of hot dog delight! Casper's kept howling my name; Dog G. Dog G. Yeah talking to you Don G. You need me Dog D! Yes, indeed! The call of a the Wild as a Casper Dog, is irresistible! Fresh steamed bun, All Beef Dog, Sliced Tomatoes, Onions and Relish! Mustard a dash of salt & pepper, Add Dill Pickle and Cheese for the ultimate Beast! I mean Feast! Yelp'n like a Big Dog! Casper's dogs are indeed the best in the Bay! No room tonight but Their shakes are thick and made just right! They have a several delicious flavors; Chocolate, Vanilla, Orange, Pineapple or Strawberry! I've been here several times and I really enjoy it. I typically get the chili cheese dog but today I switched it up with a hot dog with "everything" and I added cheese. It's a nice quick lunch. I definitely suggest it if you like hot dogs. Their dogs have a nice snap to each bite. read more
