If you're from the Stack you know Bobs Hoagy is the spot. Family owned hole in the wall. Outdated but the food is smacking. We have been coming here for over 18 years plus. Taste the same and they are always friendly here. Lots of people take out but we ate in tonight. Food was fresh and portions are decent. Steak fries are always nice and crispy. Don't forget to salt them and it always comes with a slice of pickle. Tried the bellpepper cheese steak tonight and this has to be my new favorite. It has greens so it's healthy right lol. You can order small or regular with extra meat but for me a small is perfect. The bread seems to have not changed. I really enjoy the roll they serve here. Not too thick and chewy. Parking can be difficult since it's in a busy plaza. Some might say it's ghetto with all types of people around but everyone's minding their own business. I have been coming to this restaurant for many years. Mostly dining in and to-go, and since the pandemic I have ordered on different delivery platforms, I most recently ordered via Uber eats on October 30 - somehow a carton of my food was taken out of the bag and my order was incomplete. I was planning on ordering today, since it was a long workday. I contacted the restaurant and told them of my experience with delivery on my most recent order. I have been coming here for years. I moved away out of state and I am just visiting for the holidays. I wanted to check to make sure that this place is still open and it is. It's a small quaint store nestled in the corner of a strip mall. I come here strictly for the cheesesteak. Soft pillowy bread, juicy tender steak, sweet grilled onions and melty cheese. Located in a small plaza off of Mission, this small corner hoagy place is definitely a new go to of mine! It seems to be a family owned restaurant with limited indoor seating good enough for small groups. Service was very friendly and made me feel welcomed! I ordered a to-go of the #2 Hoagy Steak small and it was just enough to fill up a hungry gal. The total came to ~$12 with tax. It may seem a bit pricey for some, but with inflation this seems to be the new norm. You definitely get what you paid for. The food was made to order so it was fresh when I received it. Meat was juicy and easy to chew. The portion size was great for something that was labeled as a small! I wish the fries were crispier, but that's more of a preference. My son and I were blown away by the great food and great folks that run this nondescript establishment in Hayward. Really the only reason was their Fremont location had closed down, permanently unfortunately. So, for old time's sake I brought my son to see if the sandwiches are as good as we remembered them back in Fremont. And YES THEY WERE!! As for the owners...well, one in a blue moon, owners live up to the privilege and do what good owners do: provide good, honest customer service that makes you ask, "why don't other people get it??" This family GETS IT! They inadvertently left mayo on my sandwich whereas I had asked for none. I got it, noticed it, and thought no big deal. In fact when the owner realized it, he came over and apologized and offered to give me a whole new sandwich, to which I immediately said absolutely not, no big deal because it wasn't. As we were leaving, this guy hands me a freshly prepared sandwich, without mayo and says to me "for tomorrow..." I know, you're wondering why am I making a big deal out something that seemingly isn't?? I'll tell you why, I literally can't remember the time when someone took the time to not only acknowledge a mistake, let alone try and make it right. And I'm like a 100 years old, so that's a long darn time, which is a sad testament of today's small business landscape. I go to the store on the other end of the building and I always see Bob steak hoagies and I wanted to try them out so today I decided to try them out. I Dole and placed two orders one for me and one for my girlfriend, I get a Mexican cheesesteak hoagie, and my girlfriend has a regular cheesesteak hoagie, my french fries to start off with or cooked in old oil or grease which makes them nasty so they're not freshly cooked when you cook them. It needs to be fresh oil to cook french fries and steak fries will hold a lot of oil if you don't cook them properly, so are french fries, a certain grease and then to get to the sandwich the sandwiches have decent but thrown together. read more

Since the Hoagy sandwich spot in Fremont has closed guess this is as close as I can get to a good Hoagy now! Came here with a friend since she was ranting about this place and how they've been there for years and this is a mom and pop owed shop. I ended up getting the Jalapeno Hoagy combo which came with a steak fries. I think I was expecting a super loaded hoagy with cheese and jalapenos but it was decent size but nothing that stood out to me. It was a nice bite to eat while on the way back home but IDK if I would go out of my way to come here again.
