We decided to try this food truck for dinner last night since it was nearby. We shared the pepper steak sandwich and the loaded fries. The pepper steak sandwich was stuffed with hot cherry peppers and the ribeye meat was pretty dry. There wasn't enough American cheese on it. The loaded fries were a good portion. The fries were lightly seasoned with all seasoning salt. They were crispy. However, it was smothered in too much cheddar cheese and scallions. For lunch one day I decided to get Grillaz Gone Wild. I was tired to getting the same food for lunch every day and so when I saw this food truck I decided to try something different. I decided to get "The Original". It was my first time at Grillaz Gone Wild so I wanted to try something simple. I've had cheesesteaks before and I never get anything fancy when I go to other places that have cheesesteaks so I thought "The Original" would be a good choice. The sandwich was good but not amazing. I liked it but thought it could have had a little more flavor. Maybe next time, I'll try something different. Overall, the experience at Grillaz Gone Wild was good. Gorillaz Gone Wild is a solid food truck if you've got a hankering for Philly cheese style sandwiches! Normally, I wouldn't choose Philly cheese steaks if it was on my own tab but since this truck participated in a company food truck day, I opted to try it. I chose the Pepper Steak which came with beef steak slices, white american cheese, and sweet/spicy peppers galore on a soft roll! It was quite tasty and filling but I felt the steak to bread ratio was a bit off. The soft roll was very bready, I wish they would have slathered on more steak. Beware! They are not stingy with the peppers! It's a mixture of sweet red bell peppers and spicy pickled green peppers. It was a good combo of sweet, salty, and sour. It was just the right amount of kick and it gave the sandwich some pop! But again, pepper to steak ratio was also off as I felt I got more pepper than protein. I just finished up Rugged before stopping by the Fremont's 2nd annual burgers and brews event and was famished. This seemed to be the most appealing sandwich at the event, or maybe I was just super hungry. I got the Peppery Steak Sandwich. Description sounded delicious. I was excited for my first bite of food that day. Wait was about 10 minutes. Sandwich came out hot and the bread seemed toasty from what i picked up. Was unsure about purchasing anything here, but their staff member did a great job of convincing us to give them a try! 5 stars for Customer Service! After seeing a friend return from the truck with one of their sandwiches I just had to try one. I ordered the Portobello Vegetarian with Portobello mushrooms, onions, bell peppers,garlic, sweet hot cherry peppers, and cheese. I added the steak fries for an extra buck and asked them to hold the bun. Even without the bread this sammie was generous enough for two people. The peppers and onions were delicious and remind me of my friends home made sausage and peppers. I didn't have to wait more than a couple of minutes for the savory goodness to be delivered. I was able to try the Flying Pig when they were at a local food truck night in the San Lorenzo area and my sister brought me home a hot steamin' sandwich from this food truck. First impression? They don't skimp you on portions or flavor. It's a pretty hefty sandwich that they fill with whatever sandwich fillings your order dictates. First bite? It was really good! I'm all about the salt life and adding enough to bring out the flavors of a dish, but there's a very fine line between just right and too salty & unfortunately Grillaz Gone Wild crossed this line. Some people love this, but I really enjoy the nice crunch, but I get that a) all sandwiches are different and b) I didn't get mine when it was super fresh. Our family friend recently hosted a big party for their daughter and had the Grillaz Gone Wild food truck come to their house. Flying Pig: This sandwich seems to be their most popular and after trying it, I can see why. This was most definitely my favorite out of everything that I tried. I don't think you can expect a classic fish and chips from a food truck as this seemed more like a larger version of fish sticks. Overall, there was just too much batter and I ended up taking it off and just eating the fish by itself. 1.5/5 Mushroom Swiss: If you like really, really, REALLY like mushrooms, then this is the sandwich for you. As I chowed down, plenty of juices just keep dripping from my huge sandwich onto the paper container. This is meat at its best. They are at the San Lorenzo Food Truck Mafia at Hesperian & Paseo Grande every Thursday from 5-9 which is where I will be every Thursday for the rest of my life. This place is insanely good, I have only tried the chicken sandwiches but the beef phillies look incredible too. The sandwiches are HUGE and so filling and stuffed with tender white meat chicken, perfectly grilled onions, yummy sauce and the freaking bread is on another level, its super soft with a good chew, it's absolutely worth the price! This truck was at Rock Wall last weekend. Long line? Oh, yeah, but the reason it was long was they are the s-l-o-w-e-s-t service I have ever experienced. We stood there forever, not moving an inch, as it appeared the two guys would take one order, make it (slowly), give it out, and then take another order. All changes in line length were due to people giving up. Not much food was coming out that window, either, it was not due to large orders. After we had waited SO long, we didn't want to bail on our time investment, so we stuck it out. Even after ordering an "original" with fries, it was a long wait to get them. I wish I had bailed. The beef was o.k., but the grilled onions were sparse, and there were no peppers on it at all (isn't that standard?) and, get this, they use CANNED CHEESE. You heard me...that sucky horrid gloppy canned "cheese" like on ballpark nachos (which I refuse to buy, because of that "cheese"). For some fluke reason they ended up not too far from my house for once and I got to check them out after a long day at work. These guys were at Shadow Puppet in Livermore. The pepper steak was outstanding: a substantial amount of tender, well seasoned thin sliced steak with freshly grilled spicy peppers on a fresh toasted torpedo roll. I look forward to trying everything else on the menu! read more
