Came for a weekday lunch. This place is put right in the middle of the industrial area of Hayward. They have a lovely space with lots of tables but most get their food to go. I got a meatball sandwich, one of their specials this week. It comes with a pickle and pepperoncini on the side. Sandwich was delicious and warm. Really good ratio of ingredients and everything was neatly packed without a mess. I thought it could be a bit small but it's a solid work day lunch without falling asleep. Total with a drink and a bag of chips I paid around $16. Staff was helpful and friendly! I'd definitely come back here if I'm in the area. read more

I wanted to update my review because this truly was one of my favorite delis and it was so nice to come in and have the owners remember me :) I ordered the La Ensenada cause it's one of my favorites and it was as good as I remember it, the big difference was the staff. Service with a smile and the wait wasn't unreasonable. I walked in and placed my order. I failed to take a picture but will do when I come back again. I love Pop's Deli. I recommend the Ensenada, the jalapeno mayo sauce is amazing. That's all me and my coworker ever get. Once I had the Del Mar which was good. My Dad said the clam chowder was best he ever had, tied with the bread bowl one you get on Pier 39. My mom liked the soup and half sandwich lunch. Cute sandwich shop with a diner-like atmosphere in the middle of the industrial business area. Lunch time is busy at Pop's but the service is still fairly quick. Order your sandwich from the counter and then pay at the register. They have a fairly large menu with decent prices, and substitutions requests are usually doable. I love this small shops in the middle of the business districts they never disappoint. Pop's was no different, they know how to make sandwiches! I've had two so far but I'm hoping to have a few more. When you come in you make a line to place your order and although long line their service was quick. Once I placed my sandwich order I waited in another line to pay. I ordered turkeycado and portofino. Turkeycado is definitely my favorite so far. They really know their portions. One request I would have is to write the orders down. I asked for no onions and still got red onions in the sandwich which was such a strong smell and taste. The portofino was good but I'll try fresh not oven roasted. Tons of parking. Great service but it can get super busy sometimes especially during lunch hours so try to call in your orders ahead of time. Sandwiches are freshly made with freshly sliced meat and fresh vegetables everyday! They have a ton of varieties and you can customize your sandwiches of course. Soups are great too! Always super hot . Staff always greets with a smile and a "ill be right with you" if they are busy . So you are acknowledged every-time. THEY ALSO HAVE SPECIALS EVERYDAY. So we decided to come eat in person after a hike and it was poppin' (no pun intended). The interior looked like it used to be a really cool diner of some sort. There is an non-operative bar and a pool table that doesn't seemed to be utilized since there's tables surrounding it. Well, the staff all seemed irritated and not too thrilled to be there. Maybe because it was lunch hour and they were busy. We ordered a Poorboy (as recommended by the staff) and a La Ensenada. The quality has gone downhill. Pops is a staple in this area. Everyone I used to work with always tells me this is the best place to go to, next to Amy's. The place is a no frills deli, they have good food and good people. I can in early and the woman who helped me was hella nice, even though she was hella busy. I mean I can't be upset, just let her do her thing. I was in no rush. Thank you Pop's Deli & Grill!! I was on the hunt for fair priced breakfast items for a morning company meeting (didn't want to go the tradition donut/bagel route) and I came across Pop's!! I think items are priced well for what you get, we got breakfast burritos & Denver breakfast muffins with either chicken, bacon or turkey sausage. Fan favorite was the burritos! Okay where have I been?!?! This sandwich spot is amazing and hidden within a business park, sort of like a hidden gem! The price is good (I believe it was $6.95 for the sandwich I got) and the quality is amazing! I got the pepper cheese steak and it was delish! I was able to finish the entire sandwich by myself in one sitting. Would I come here again? Of course yes!!! I definitely want to try the many sandwich flavors they have! Great spot for sandwiches, salads, and soups. We had the Oriental chicken salad, vegalone, taco salad, and nachos. The vegalone sandwich was perfect. The veggies were all crisp and fresh and cold and paired perfectly with a soft French roll and Italian dressing. The taco salad was a good size and served with salsa, no dressing required. The Oriental chicken salad and nachos (with queso) were both good. Service got a bit backed up, but when another worker returned, the line went fast. The value here is a definite plus. I've been wanting to try this lil mom & pop deli for awhile now. It's located on Huntwood and blends right in with all the grey business complexes. If you're planning to pick up your order, definitely call in instead of using the Grubhub feature on here. It'll save you about a dollar per sandwich. I guess they're pretty popular on Doordash too since everyone asked if I was there for Doordash upon arrival. I don't usually get veggie sandwiches, but the craving hit so I ordered two for myself and here we are. I got the Californian and Dorado- subbed the French roll for Dutch Crunch. Both were good, but I preferred the Dorado even though the bread was a bit hard. I love that each sandwich came with a pickle spear and 2-3 pepperoncinis. Note that on their website, it said "Pop's remains open for curbside pick-up!" However, I didn't see any signs for curbside pickup, nor didn't I get any instructions. So, don't be like me and assume you aren't getting out of your car so you go out in your house slippers. Wear shoes! They also had 1 table outside under a tent for outdoor diners. As for customer service, I encountered 2 employees. One was a nice Hispanic lady on her lunch break. I don't think she was on the clock but she greeted me anyway and directed me to the front counter. The other was an Indian lady that I assume was the same one I spoke to on the phone. She continued with her conversation while taking my order and had to repeat my order (2 sandwiches) 3x. I walked towards her and she just pointed to the top of the fridge saying, "Doordash." Oook... except I'm here for myself. She handed me the sandwiches and told me to bag it myself while she texted on her phone. She was also not wearing a mask, which was a huge turn off. Overall, it was just okay. I've ordered Pop's two days in a row now so I guess a review is in order! I can't get enough of the sandwiches here. Prices are super affordable, the flavor combos are straight forward, and the ingredients are fresh (also love that they have sprouts...now if only they would add black olives, my weird sandwich flavor combo dreams would come true!). My favorite sandwich so far is the Gourmet. I have never found a sandwich shop that offers a cream cheese and ham style and I'm into it. They also have great veggie options (my fav is the Dorado). The only soup I've tried is clam chowder but I'm gonna have a hard time ordering anything else bc it's addicting. The ordering experience on DoorDash was really basic (didn't list out soup options or types of deli salad available), so if you're ordering online it's hard to know the full menu. This Deli is a hidden gem! Tucked in the back of HAYWARD! Food is great and the menu has lots of options! Prices are excellent!

I rushed in at 3:47 (they close at 4:00), and expected to feel rushed. This wasn't the case at all, the wonderful woman that took my order was very nice and didn't make me feel rushed. I ordered our sandwiches, and then (as I normally do), proceeded to add additions, to both sandwiches. She didn't miss a beat, and I never felt like she had a problem with me coming in at the last minute and adding and changing the sandwiches. The Covid Protical was still in place, (and I appreciate it). The Sandwiches, are sooooo! Great, fresh meat, veggies, additions, and bacon.
