Last minute dinner choice and I'm so glad my husband picked Rayo's Pizza. We tried the carne asada pizza and WOW. Salty, flavorful, cheesy, and seriously so good. Add a little squeeze of lime on top and it makes it even better. I also added some salsa verde to my slice and it was so frickin good I love tacos and I love pizza, so this was basically the perfect combo. Today was not a good day for Philly cheese steak. My order had sand and dirt in it. It was so gritty it was not edible. The fettuccine Alfredo was great, and the fries and garlic bread were great as usual, so I have to think that the cheese steak fell onto some dirt and was still served to me. So, while normally they have good service, I am shocked that they served me a sandwich that I could not eat. It actually made me nauseous. I am not sure that I would recommend this place any more, though I might give it another chance it the owners step up and address this. Very disappointed. I had to not eat anything but the fries, which were basically $20 fries without the sandwich. read more

Can't believe I haven't completed a review yet. Love this place. I've tried several pizza types. My favorite one is the Carne Pizza, which has such a wonderful blend of flavors. As you'll see in the photos, I've tried several meat, meat combos and veggie pizzas. If you get the large, you're allowed to do half and half on your pizza. Double check because maybe they will allow half and half on a medium. I'm not sure. By getting half and half, I've been able to try a variety of toppings to see what I prefer. The owner is kind, and the pizza is delicious and fresh. I also think that $2.00/slice is a good deal. That is the price if you get an extra-large at $32.99 because it's cut into 16 slices. They do offer pizza slices...Cheese = $4.00, $6.25 for Rayo's combo and $6.50 for Chicken Parmesan. They have a private parking lot, so parking shouldn't be an issue. Plus, there is neighborhood street parking. I will say that the last two times I've been (the week of Dec 14th and on Dec 26th, 2025), the restaurant doors were locked, and you're instructed to order at a window that used to belong to an Indian restaurant that closed. I had no idea this place was halal! So glad I came across this as this might just be my favorite, or close to favorite, halal pizza spot in the bay. I was recommended the beef brisket pizza by a friend. It did not disappoint. I decided to make it a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza by doing half bbq brisket and the other half carne asada. The carne asada was delicious. It had the perfect amount and blend of the ingredients and truly tasted like a taco style pizza. I ended up ordering a couple of other items just to try. I ordered the smash burger that came with fries. It was prepared and tasted more like a home burger, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's not like those extravagant smash burgers folks are selling these days, and if you are craving a burger, it is a safe choice. The fries are relatively average. I ordered chicken Parmesan pasta to go and am excited to try that out and report back. My next trip I'd like to try the wings, another pizza flavor, and maybe their shake. All in all, it was a worthwhile place to get food and I recommend you try it as well. I did not have high hopes for the food here based on looks alone. Boy, was I wrong! The food was so good. The location is a bit run-down, but most people pick up their orders to go. I was invited by a brother and sister from my church. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wasn't going to turn down a free meal. The sister mentioned that they used Rayo's for her mother-in-law's funeral service, and the price was extremely reasonable for the quantity and quality of food. I ordered the carne asada slice--taste was a 9/10! I did not expect a carne asada pizza to taste that good, but somehow, they made the flavors work together. They even give you limes to add to your pizza, and if you love Mexican food like I do, you know you have to add lime to your asada. My husband and I shared an 8-piece order of wings. They let us do two flavors. I really wanted plain wings, and he ordered honey garlic. The garlic was really strong in the honey garlic, but as a garlic lover myself, I was extremely happy. My husband is picky about garlic, but he still loved them. He also tried the sweet chili wings from someone else at the table and really liked them. We'll probably be back to order a full order of those soon. My husband ordered a pepperoni and sausage slice, and my kids got a burger with fries. They liked both meals and had no complaints. The people I went with ordered spaghetti and chicken alfredo. One of them is a born-and-raised New Yorker, and he loves the marinara sauce they use on the spaghetti--that should tell you everything you need to know. The fettuccine alfredo comes with mushrooms, which some people might not like, but it looked amazing to me. Both pastas came in to-go containers, which again tells you they prioritize takeout orders. Great portions, though! The restaurant is a bit run-down, with peeling paint and dirty tables, so I would not recommend eating there. But to-go orders are a must! From what I was told, it's run by a husband-and-wife duo--the husband manages the register up front, and the wife is in the back cooking. The husband was so busy handling phone orders, walk-ins, and serving our food that it took him a while to get to everything. OK pizza in Hayward, we were visiting my brother and wanted to reward the kids with lunch, they chose Hawaiian Pizza and I found Rayo's on Yelp. It was close and it was easy placing our order over the phone. When we got there, nobody was inside and nobody was at the cash register. They have a distinctly painted interior so we wandered around a bit having a look and trying to make some light noise and eventually someone came out from the kitchen to help us. They still needed another 10 minutes but we weren't in a rush and waited. Hawaiian Pizza: I always try to support independent place and this pizza was OK, I think I prefer some franchise variations of this but it was for the kids and I did see they had some more unique creations we would try next time like carne asada pizza. Fries and Chicken strips: fries were a bit pale and tasted OK, when they are this size and proportion they are very similar to McDonalds fries and it's hard not to compare them. I decided to try this place after driving by several times and wondering about it. This particular location used to be Smiling Jack's, another pizza place, for many years. Figured it was worth a try. On my first visit, the posted opening hours were from 12:00-10:00, but nobody was at the restaurant manning the window or the counter when I arrived. Second visit happened to be later in the afternoon, about 2pm. I got two slices of pizza, pepperoni and mushroom. Their slices are the New York style, although the crust is a bit more dense than traditional NY style, but I liked the flavor enough to overlook that. The price is quite reasonable too. They also advertise smashburgers on their signage, so I didn't feel like it would be proper to not also get one of those as well on my third visit. I just ordered online and took it to-go, but I had the same problem with nobody really being at the window when I got there. Luckily someone must have seen me standing outside and told the person inside. The smashburger was decent, and the fries that came as a side were perfectly cooked - they are the battered homestyle fry variety, but not too greasy or oily. I think the food here is good, I just think the posted hours could use some clarity. The website says they are open at 12:00, but it's very rare to actually have them be fully open and ready to serve food at that time. read more

He use to have the buliding nextdoor to him for sitting there to enjoy your pizza but his rent was to high to keep that buliding. I'd still go there to get my pizza there tho. Hubby saw a video about this place I believe in IG and we have been meaning to try for a while. We had craving for pizza this night and actually originally planned to go on Monday but they are closed Mondays. We ordered via Uber eats and decided on the carne asada pizza and smash burger. Smash burger comes with fries and was very tasty. Not the best burger I have had but very good. The star of the show was definitely the pizza and the reason we choose to order from this place. Medium pizza is a decent size and comes with limes and radishes on the side. The flavor is out of this world. Very interesting that they made a Mexican style pizza with marinara sauce but it works. The carne is super flavorful, the cilantro adds a great layer of flavor and freshness and the onions tie it all together. If it wasn't for my stomach telling me I was full, I would have easily finished the box lol. This place is the TRUTH when it comes to pizza. The dough & crust, the sauces, the toppings all make it very clear when you have their pizza - these guys take pizza seriously. No amateur hour here. And when you order a large or XL, it's an actual L or XL (looking at you, round table with your shrinkflation). I said, "I know a place!" I had been to Rayo's Pizza before. There was a Yelp Event there not too long ago and the pizza was excellent! Rayo's is on Mission Blvd, not too far from Fremont. It's closer to Union City than downtown Hayward. About that pizza... Take a look at the photos of the menu! These are not your ordinary combinations. You could get just pepperoni and mushroom if you want. In fact, they have a lunch deal where you get two 2-topping slices and drinks for $8. Wow! Anyway, we looked at the menu and couldn't stick with two toppings. They have unusual, and delicious, toppings like BBQ Brisket and Honey Garlic Chicken. We got Carne Asada and Meat Supreme and some mozzarella sticks. The appetizer came out first and we dug in. These are larger than average and the marinara sauce is excellent. The pizza was brought out just as we finished the apps. Sorry I didn't photograph the food, but it is amazing. I couldn't count how many different meats were on the Meat Supreme, but it was piled high and delicious. We stopped in mid-afternoon, between lunch and dinner, but the place kept busy with people stopping by to pick up pizzas to take home. There is plenty of seating, inside and out. Highly recommend! Not typically a pizza guy but when the menu has something other than "Meatlovers" or Hawaiian (Canadian bacon, pineapple, etc.), then I know it'll be a fun place to try. The interior is a bit dark. I discovered this place during a Yelp Elite event early this month, and ever since, I wanted to come back and support the business. After my workout, I was craving a pizza, so I came to Rayo's Pizza. Ordering online was easy. They also had a 5% off when you ordered online. It said that my order would be ready in 45 minutes. When I arrived, the staff told me the pizza wasn't ready yet and would be ready in a couple more minutes. It was okay with me since he was the only one working, and more orders were coming in. I ordered a Large Carne Asada pizza. It was great and delicious. The meat had a great flavor, and the heat elevated the flavor.
