I bookmarked this newish meat market about a year ago. They are deep in an industrial area of Hayward. They are 100% halal, which is a huge draw for the big middle eastern population here in the East Bay. They have a livestock farm out in the central valley, so this is a very local (Californian) operation. Which was my initial draw for this place. The meat market is small but very well stocked. Maybe 3 large display coolers. One doing all poultry and the other 2 doing beef in several grades/breeds and lamb. Everything I perused over looked great and presented in a professional manner. Not cheap but I think it can be worth it if you are into quality and responsible sustainability. I've tried a couple of their steaks and also their beef hot links. I really liked the steaks as they are very beefy with a nice toothsome texture. The hot links were just meh, hot dog consistency but very firm and bouncy. Probably wouldn't get that again. But steaks, I will keep exploring their different cuts. But within this year of 2026 they also started to do an outdoor cooking station, to showcase some of their meat products. And the foodie influencers on socials are definitely showing this place off, which is a great thing for them, as they are harder to find. You order inside the meat market, pay, then bring your receipt to the outdoor cook. They have a few outdoor tables and chairs spread out but I saw several people eat right in their cars. The menu has burgers (maybe 2 levels of beef), cheesesteaks, chopped cheese sammies, tri tip, lamb chops and limited beef ribs. Most things are cooked on a propane blackstone which is a hot cast iron flat top grill. Smash Burger ($15/4*) At this price, comes with a bag of chips and a soda. Just a burger is $12. Quality patty, quite beefy texture which I liked. Wished it were seasoned a bit more as the beef flavor would get more amplified. There was a sauce that adds some flavor to the bites. Not a huge burger like you don't need 2 hands to eat this. Comes with lettuce and pickles, and they told me onions but I didn't really taste any. It was a decent burger but not a special one. In & Outs double is still my standard that I hold most burgers to, and In & Outs is still more satisfying (soul-wise) than this version. Lamb Chops ($28/4.5*) When I saw this on the menu, I had to try it. 3 nice sized chops. Much more meaty than most other chops as they leave a lot more of the meat/fat on the ribs, which I love. They season this with something more significant than the burgers. More of a spicy salt, which I actually loved. They sear it super aggressively on that flat top that it almost looks blackened. But when meat gets that seared and caramelized, it just intensifies the meat flavors. Definitely cooks past medium, but lamb chops are so fatty that it can take it. Came with some cheese toast that got too dark from the hot grill. I was able to eat 1 piece but the other piece was too burnt. Came with a nice scoop of mac salad. I ate one chop there with my burger as to taste it fresh right off the grill. It was pretty special. And the other 2 chops I had for dinner later that night with some freshly cooked sides, some steamed veggies and couscous. Very satisfying dinner, even though the chops were a bit drier than the first one I ate. Still repeat worthy. I'm gonna get some raw lamb chops from them again and cook it myself. Along with several of their steaks and beef cuts. I'm an avid cook and this is an awesome local resource for me. I stumbled upon this small meat market through Google search. I am really glad that we did because their Halal meats are so fresh! As you walk in, you are welcomed by two butchers behind the counter. There are 3 glass counters that stored the following meat options: beef, lamb, Wagyu, and chicken. I decided to go with ribeye and I am so glad that I did! The steak was so tender. There was a slight taste of gamiest as you take your first bite. Manager hear me out first (lol). IT IS A GOOD THING! With most commercial beef that you buy at major grocery stores, the beef either has no natural flavor so you basically have to pour a huge bottle of A1 sauce! Not this one. I only flavored it with a tad of kosher salt and pepper. It was a hit at home! The ribeye was so tender and tasty! Mayars serves delicious sandwiches with their incredibly high quality meat! I ordered a tri-tip sandwich. This is a stand they run in the parking lot of the meat market. Meat was slices to perfection for the perfect bite, was cooked evenly, & was very juicy. The grilled onions and sauce were great with the tri-tip. Loved it! I'll be back to try their other sandwich options. From what I recall their menu includes philly cheese steak, chopped cheese, smash burgers, and wagyu sandwich options. This is a butcher shop that has a small menu of sandwiches you can order. Place is immaculately clean and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Menu is straightforward but everything we tried was delicious. I've had plenty of Cheesesteaks all over, this one is up there with the best I've tried. My brother got a chopped cheese and loved it, immediately fella asleep after eating it, woke up and started talking about how we need to go back. Wait is a bit long because there's only 1 cook. But the tri tip sandwich is sooo good. Meat is very tender. Just the right amount of bbq or whatever sauce they use, and onions were the perfect finish. Staff is super friendly and you can tell they love what they do. The cheesesteak was okay! I am torn about whether to write this review because I do not want to have to share this little gem in Hayward. The store and the cases are extremely clean. The cases are filled with beautiful looking meat from chicken to beef to lamb and more. The owner, Yaya, was so friendly and nice. He spent time explaining the types of meat that they offer. They had a chef cooking hamburgers and bacon hot links outside. After we bought lamb and steak we had to try the bacon wrapped hot links. They were delicious. I bought banana pudding for dessert. It was good too. When we cooked the steak and lamb chops they were absolutely delicious. I called my neighbors to tell them about this place. I would give this place 10 stars if I could! read more

A gem hidden in the industrial area of Hayward! I bought Chuck roast beef. I told the guy I will make curry with it and he cut it into perfect small pieces and even removed a lot of the fat. Today we visited Mayar's for the first time and the experience was memorable. We chose a whole chicken which the butcher cut it as spatchcock style that was superb. Grilled it golden brown and it turned out amazing. We also selected a tomahawk steak that was absolutely the best steak we ever cooked in our Traeger. Topped with some homemade rosemary and garlic blended butter. Absolutely delicious and we have now raised the bar for flavor and balance in the plated steak. Place is bangin for the 4th. I have only bought my Tri tips from one spot for the last 5 years so we will see what it do, but def 5 stars for being open for all us meat heads on the 4th. I don't see how anyone could rate this place poorly. They excel in what they do, and quality is there to prove it. I came to Mayar's Meat Market back in August, and it was truly an experience. I drove about 30 minutes, and had to drive another hour to get to my destination. The worker there, Sergio was very professional and answered every question I had. He even added ice packs for the lengthy drive I had to do afterwards. The Ribeye, and Picanha that I bought from here was truly phenomenal. They have a lot of cuts of meat, and if you don't know what you want you can always call and ask. They'll make it happen. I would give this place a 6 star if I could. Get there on my lunch was told it was going to be a 30 minute wait for my food. I didn't mind seeing that all the reviews said it would be worth it. When I got my food I received a Luke warm bacon wrapped hot dog and a greasy Philly cheesesteak. The hot dog tasted like a re heated dog that was left out for a while and just reheated. The Philly cheesesteak tasted like burnt BBQ sauce. I was very let down by this place and I'm not sure if I caught them on a bad day but I'm not sure if I would've return. Also safe to say I have a slight cold a day after eating here. Going to try this place again but going to have very low standards. read more

Very rude people. I placed an order, paid in advance, and told to come back after 1:30 pm when some of food will be ready by then. I called around that time and mentioned I can't make it myself but will have a courier to pick it up for me , is this OK? they said SURE and your order is ready for pickup. Once carrier arrived , they couldn't even find my order and cancelled the pickup despite of their earlier approval that it's OK. I called store to see what is the issue and why they didn't hand my order to courier , they put manager on phone to resolve the issue, but manager was a true Jerk, argumentative, and tried to blame me by falsely claiming I hadn't confirmed the order is ready, manager knew he is LYING! Manager was confused UberEat with the service I had for simply pickup courier instead of going there myself, and ignoring the fact that his staff confirmed this is OK to have someone picking up with this arrangement over the phone earlier. Too ignorance and terrible temper for manager to act so aggressive and wild over a simple pickup order and feel bad for staff that have to deal with him daily-basis. Manager claimed everything is ready for pickup so I got another courier to pickup but the new guy texted me that he is at store and your order is NOT ready so this is another lie from same incompetent Manager. To make matters worse, when I open the package at home I realized they had left item out of my order. Very dishonest and rude manager to sell HALAL food . Train your staff and be a man to accept their mistake on overpromising in this case rather than acting a baby as manager position. They know NOTHING about customer service or how to treat customers with respect. Once they charge you, it feels like they just want to move on. This is a very clean meat store with a lot of choices. Since it is located a little far off from the other residential areas, it doesn't have any crowds and also feels like it is in a nowhere place. Does have its private parking sports. The cool thing about this meat place is people are very very friendly. If they don't have what you are looking for you, then you can ask the staff and they might be able to get what you need. They can also cut the meat to match your needs. It's a great addition to the Hayward and the east bay community! I love this local all halal shop near our home. Whenever we need quality meat and hard to find cuts, this spot is IT. We came here when they first opened and the owner was super friendly, talking to us and asking us questions. They also had little bags of their family owned organic basmati rice to give out as samples. We loved the rice too! We came here a few times already and got different kind of meat from chicken to beef. We love how the cows were just slaughtered the day before, so I know they haven't been sitting around for days. It's also a clean spot and I can tell they upkeep their hygiene. The prices are reasonable for the quality you're getting. You can definitely taste the quality after cooking them. I was referred to you by another friend of mine and I came in during the holidays and met a very nice gentleman named Mohammed he was extremely helpful to me because I am not that smart on picking out meat I was looking for a prime rib for one of my holiday dinners and Mohammed was so gracious and so informative that I am not going to buy my meat anywhere else but at your market it was not only a beautiful piece of meat, but the meat melted in my mouth and my family's mouth I think it was one of the best prime ribs I have ever made and I must tell you I definitely know how to make prime rib. I may not know how to pick it out, but I definitely know how to cook it and this was one of the best ones that I've ever tasted. This is hands-down the best halal butcher I've found in the Bay Area! The customer service here is absolutely fantastic, friendly, helpful, and attentive. They have an impressive selection of meat, and after searching all over the Bay Area for beef short ribs, this place was the only one that had them in stock at a great price. But it doesn't stop at the butcher counter AND they also have amazing food outside wirh the chef Adam and Phillip! Their halal chopped cheeses and other prepared items are absolutely delicious. This place is a joke! If I could give 0 stars I would. Bought $150 worth of meat on 4th of July and it was wrapped up in parchment paper. When I got home more than 90% fat no meat. When I called Sergio he admitted "I sold you fat, I'm sorry we were busy come by next time I will take care of you." It was very inconvenient and embarrassing my whole family laughed at me including my Parents. Bbq was ruined. I didn't make it a big deal because I understand mistakes happen in business especially when it's a busy day. Fast forward July 18 I called and he told me yes I remember you admitted again to selling me all fat, & said come in I will take care of you. When I got there he told me he can only give me $75 worth which is half. He said I should have kept the fat to bring it and show him as proof but never mentioned any of that either times we talked on the phone LOL. Wouldn't call the owner because apparently he was too busy. Reached out to the owner but no response. As a business owner I would have gave the full amount of store credit back. If not more BECAUSE OF ALL THE INCONVENIENCE. Seems like they really don't care about their customers. Yes their store looks pretty cute but you can get halal meat from other stores for a fraction of the price.
