The renovated Lake Chabot Public Market is still in progress, but they already started opening shop beginning with this wonderful meat market! It's great to have this small but quality meat market finally open in our neighborhood! The folks at the counter are very friendly and helpful. On my first visit, they gave me a walk through of their selection, including tips on how to cook them properly. I chose the marinated lamb and meat loaf, and they even wrote the cooking directions on the bag. Rushed home to grill the lamb while the kids had an impromptu meatball-making session. I was rewarded with a tender, juicy and absolutely scrumptious dinner! (See pic for proof!) Today, I'm going to try their special Korean beef short ribs, "Oakland" style. Can't wait to fire up the grill and get this yummy in my tummy! There's still some construction for the other stalls, but I'm really looking forward to coming back for more!

Best meat. Also great hot meals. The place is honest, after they weight the meat then they add extra sauce. Great Place.

Nice resource I found recently. It is a meat wholesaler, so straight warehouse facility that I'm…read moresure delivers to stores and restaurants. And after gazing at their product listing one day, I can kinda tell that they probably service a lot of ethnic shops like taquerias and small brick n mortars. You actually don't see or interact with any of their products directly. Upon opening their public door, there's a small office with a window. There's a current product sheet there with current pricing. You have to go by this and not with what you got in the past, or internet postings, as this sheet will be their current inventory and pricing. And pricing these days can vary greatly from week to week as well as supply. There's also a hanging bulletin board that has a lot of weekly specials. Once you've found something, you just place the order with the nice receptionist. She'll draw up a receipt and take your payment. CASH ONLY (for some reason). You then have to go outside where your car is and wait for a warehouse employee to bring it out to you. They are quick, like I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes. I've tried this place like 3 times now since I work nearby and just hit this up on my way home. Here are some finds: *In a very industrial zone of San Leandro. Close to the Costco but much deeper in industrial streets. Can't see it from a main road. Gotta go under an overpass then parallel a railroad track. Now that I know where it is at, it's a breeze. But first time looking it was a bit of a challenge. *All meats I've gotten thus far are frozen solid. But nicely frozen where you won't have to break anything separating things. Lots of things are well sealed in tight cryovac. So will have to spend time defrosting goods, can't go home and start cooking. But I just put whatever I'm planning on cooking in the fridge for a good day and just cook it the next day or so. And in what meats I've gotten even though frozen at one point is still of really good quality once defrosted. *Beef seems somewhat 'Choice grade' but I haven't seen any labeling to say so. Steaks I've tried are meatier and chewier than most grocery stores in my area, but in a good way. Feels more natural and not as 'water-y'. I've only tried 1 lb Rib Eye Steaks and thin cut NY strips so far, and have been more than pleased. Also tried some lamb shoulder chops and they too made for good dishes. *Pricing less than retail grocery stores unless there is mass grocery sale. Competive with Costco beef pricing but here you'll have to defrost something slowly. But you won't have to go through the Costco grind of getting aggravated in the parking lot, weaving through hundreds of people and waiting in life-sucking lines. I mean I'll still go to Costco, but if I can go to Costco less, then I've just freed up a big part of my personal time. *If I'm ever gonna feed a big group, big bbq, holiday party, big potluck etc., this will be a legit option. You can get cases of stuff here, whole ribeyes and briskets, cases of chicken/pork/lamb. They even have bacon, sausage and common cheeses on wholesale. And a big draw here is they have a ton of ethnic meats, which is why I'm sure they deal with a lot ethnic mom n pops. Tripe, suadero, beef cheeks, pork necks, livers all here. Probably won't find that stuff at Costco. *Warehouse hours, open like super early like 6-7 am and close by noon. Works for my hours but not for many others. Good fit for me, so they'll become a resource for me.

I bookmarked this newish meat market about a year ago. They are deep in an industrial area of…read moreHayward. They are 100% halal, which is a huge draw for the big middle eastern population here in the East Bay. They have a livestock farm out in the central valley, so this is a very local (Californian) operation. Which was my initial draw for this place. The meat market is small but very well stocked. Maybe 3 large display coolers. One doing all poultry and the other 2 doing beef in several grades/breeds and lamb. Everything I perused over looked great and presented in a professional manner. Not cheap but I think it can be worth it if you are into quality and responsible sustainability. I've tried a couple of their steaks and also their beef hot links. I really liked the steaks as they are very beefy with a nice toothsome texture. The hot links were just meh, hot dog consistency but very firm and bouncy. Probably wouldn't get that again. But steaks, I will keep exploring their different cuts. But within this year of 2026 they also started to do an outdoor cooking station, to showcase some of their meat products. And the foodie influencers on socials are definitely showing this place off, which is a great thing for them, as they are harder to find. You order inside the meat market, pay, then bring your receipt to the outdoor cook. They have a few outdoor tables and chairs spread out but I saw several people eat right in their cars. The menu has burgers (maybe 2 levels of beef), cheesesteaks, chopped cheese sammies, tri tip, lamb chops and limited beef ribs. Most things are cooked on a propane blackstone which is a hot cast iron flat top grill. Smash Burger ($15/4*) At this price, comes with a bag of chips and a soda. Just a burger is $12. Quality patty, quite beefy texture which I liked. Wished it were seasoned a bit more as the beef flavor would get more amplified. There was a sauce that adds some flavor to the bites. Not a huge burger like you don't need 2 hands to eat this. Comes with lettuce and pickles, and they told me onions but I didn't really taste any. It was a decent burger but not a special one. In & Outs double is still my standard that I hold most burgers to, and In & Outs is still more satisfying (soul-wise) than this version. Lamb Chops ($28/4.5*) When I saw this on the menu, I had to try it. 3 nice sized chops. Much more meaty than most other chops as they leave a lot more of the meat/fat on the ribs, which I love. They season this with something more significant than the burgers. More of a spicy salt, which I actually loved. They sear it super aggressively on that flat top that it almost looks blackened. But when meat gets that seared and caramelized, it just intensifies the meat flavors. Definitely cooks past medium, but lamb chops are so fatty that it can take it. Came with some cheese toast that got too dark from the hot grill. I was able to eat 1 piece but the other piece was too burnt. Came with a nice scoop of mac salad. I ate one chop there with my burger as to taste it fresh right off the grill. It was pretty special. And the other 2 chops I had for dinner later that night with some freshly cooked sides, some steamed veggies and couscous. Very satisfying dinner, even though the chops were a bit drier than the first one I ate. Still repeat worthy. I'm gonna get some raw lamb chops from them again and cook it myself. Along with several of their steaks and beef cuts. I'm an avid cook and this is an awesome local resource for me. Throwing out the fiver for the exciting and delicious future I have ahead of me.

As you walk in, you are welcomed by two butchers behind the counter. There are 3 glass counters that stored the following meat options: beef, lamb, Wagyu, and chicken. I decided to go with ribeye and I am so glad that I did! The steak was so tender. There was a slight taste of gamiest as you take your first bite. Manager hear me out first (lol). IT IS A GOOD THING! With most commercial beef that you buy at major grocery stores, the beef either has no natural flavor so you basically have to pour a huge bottle of A1 sauce! Not this one. I only flavored it with a tad of kosher salt and pepper. It was a hit at home! The ribeye was so tender and tasty! For the leg of lamb, I think most people get a whole leg of lamb. That was way too much for me and I think the butcher thought I was confused when I asked for less and asked me what I was doing with it. He ended up saying he could give me a half leg of lamb and I agreed. Thar was about 3 and a half pounds (bone included) which was the perfect amount. I seared it and then braised it and the meat fell off the bone. Delicious and the price was pretty good. I was cooking my first pork chop and decided to come here to get it. Their pork isn't labeled as Berkshire or Duroc or anything but that probably keeps the price down. For chops, they had boneless, bone in, and double cut (which was also bone in). I mentioned I wanted it to be about 2 inches thick and the butcher said to get the double cut.I got 2 beautiful thick pork chops for $6.99 a pound so about $18 total. The regular cut bone in pork chops were the same price though obviously smaller. I brined this overnight and reverse seared it and it was great. The chop was a loin chop- loin and then a tenderloin nugget- not a pure rib chop. Cooked really nicely and was tender which I think was partially the overnight brine and also their pork. They do sell some vegetables and grocery supplies if you want to just make a single stop. They also have a deli with some sandwiches that looked good and prepared foods. I was very focused on buying the things I came in for and getting on with my day both times but I would like to take a closer look in the future as it looked good. Solid butcher shop and clearly loved since it was busy both on a weekend and during the week. I'm sure I will be back.
