the best Mediterranean market in the bay area..all fresh meat lamb and goat, veal and beef, all chicken parts, plus a lot of varieties of groceries from all over the world... this market should be your first choice..

not sure why so many negative reviews.. I feel like especially in the last month their stuff looked way different in terms of being fully stocked. ~their vegetables look good to me ~ I bought their manaeesh/pizza and rotisserie chicken from here (would buy again). my family loved it. ~ I bought chicken from their butcher this month (March 2024) and I would def come back for it

Proof From The Government Website That Adding A Surcharge In California Is Prohibited
    Mohammed M.

The Cashier Is Rude. Doesn't Understand what the costumer wants Or doesn't Want To Understand. Either might be true. I told him adding a surcharge on credit cards is prohibited and was arguing with me. This rule applies to all merchants in California. They are supposed to pay the credit card fees (average 2%) from their profit not just asking the costumers about it. It's not about the 4% which they are charging, it's about what's right and what's wrong. Here is a proof:- https://oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/credit-card-surcharges

Beef Mortadella / Salami Hallal Halal - Rotted same day Don't Buy
    Tarek A.

Purchased Halal Beef mortadella about 20 minutes ago. Arrived home 10 minutes later and opened and the meat was green and rotted. Threw it away immediately, genuinely shocked that this is being sold in stores, I'm not sure where the health department is but I advise anybody not to go anywhere near the deli because this was my first time shopping at this location and I was truly shocked at what I found when I came back home. You can get poisoned, the person cutting the meat should automatically have known and have used a new roll.

    Clean store
    Kev H.

A pretty tiny but clean Mediterranean grocery store with narrow aisles and good a selection of products you wouldn't normally find in regular grocery stores such as Safeway. We came here for pita bread and we felt like we came to the right place since they offered a lot of different kinds! Pita, naan, lavash, and so on. A lot of customers were purchasing their meat when we were at the store, so I dunno, they must've had good quality meat. They also had a good variety of sweets, which I really wish I had bought some. Oh and the staff there were really friendly and helpful to us too.

Food: The hot tri-tip sandwich was unfortunately ice cold, lacked flavor, and was overcooked. I had to use a lot of barbecue sauce just to make it enjoyable. I've had this sandwich before and it was delicious, so I'm not sure what happened today. 2/10 The hot pastrami sandwich, on the other hand, was flavorful and one of the best sandwiches my wife says she's ever had. 10/10 We didn't order any sides this time, but we'll definitely try them on our next visit. Drinks: We ordered two waters and one Gatorade. Service: Service was quick and efficient. The team at the counter was very friendly and helpful. I also liked the old school touch of filling out a sandwich order form. Prices are very reasonable and fair. Even though my sandwich wasn't the best on this visit, we'll definitely be back to try the sides and other items on the menu.

And after gazing at their product listing one day, I can kinda tell that they probably service a lot of ethnic shops like taquerias and small brick n mortars. You actually don't see or interact with any of their products directly. Upon opening their public door, there's a small office with a window. There's a current product sheet there with current pricing. You have to go by this and not with what you got in the past, or internet postings, as this sheet will be their current inventory and pricing. And pricing these days can vary greatly from week to week as well as supply. There's also a hanging bulletin board that has a lot of weekly specials. Once you've found something, you just place the order with the nice receptionist. She'll draw up a receipt and take your payment. CASH ONLY (for some reason). You then have to go outside where your car is and wait for a warehouse employee to bring it out to you. They are quick, like I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes. I've tried this place like 3 times now since I work nearby and just hit this up on my way home. Here are some finds: *In a very industrial zone of San Leandro. Close to the Costco but much deeper in industrial streets. Can't see it from a main road. Gotta go under an overpass then parallel a railroad track. Now that I know where it is at, it's a breeze. But first time looking it was a bit of a challenge. *All meats I've gotten thus far are frozen solid. But nicely frozen where you won't have to break anything separating things. Lots of things are well sealed in tight cryovac. So will have to spend time defrosting goods, can't go home and start cooking. But I just put whatever I'm planning on cooking in the fridge for a good day and just cook it the next day or so. And in what meats I've gotten even though frozen at one point is still of really good quality once defrosted. *Beef seems somewhat 'Choice grade' but I haven't seen any labeling to say so. Steaks I've tried are meatier and chewier than most grocery stores in my area, but in a good way. Feels more natural and not as 'water-y'. I've only tried 1 lb Rib Eye Steaks and thin cut NY strips so far, and have been more than pleased. Also tried some lamb shoulder chops and they too made for good dishes. *Pricing less than retail grocery stores unless there is mass grocery sale. Competive with Costco beef pricing but here you'll have to defrost something slowly. But you won't have to go through the Costco grind of getting aggravated in the parking lot, weaving through hundreds of people and waiting in life-sucking lines. I mean I'll still go to Costco, but if I can go to Costco less, then I've just freed up a big part of my personal time. *If I'm ever gonna feed a big group, big bbq, holiday party, big potluck etc., this will be a legit option. You can get cases of stuff here, whole ribeyes and briskets, cases of chicken/pork/lamb. They even have bacon, sausage and common cheeses on wholesale. And a big draw here is they have a ton of ethnic meats, which is why I'm sure they deal with a lot ethnic mom n pops. Tripe, suadero, beef cheeks, pork necks, livers all here. Probably won't find that stuff at Costco. *Warehouse hours, open like super early like 6-7 am and close by noon. Works for my hours but not for many others. Good fit for me, so they'll become a resource for me.

Bulgogi and Chadol Baegi (thin sliced beef brisket - a staple at KBBQ restaurants) are excellent. I used to have to get the thin sliced beef eye round at 99 Ranch if I wanted to KBBQ at home. Brisket at C&H Meat is a 100x better in terms of flavor and quality for the same price compared to 99 Ranch - $12.99/lb. They have a pretty cool market section that includes craft beer and basic refrigerated/frozen korean goods on the left wall. There is also a small produce section to the left of the butcher counter - not the freshest produce I would say, but not bad if you need to grab something like soybean sprouts and don't want to make another stop. I'd recommend you come here earlier in the day as they do run out of meats towards closing time. Went about 1.5 hours before closing on a Saturday and they were practically cleared out on meats.

They Sell: - American Lamb (Not Gamey, Delicious) - High-Quality Chicken (Mary's) - Homemade Sausages - Solid Pork/Beef (including Wagyu) - Game Meats, Veal, Seafood - Deli Items - Seasonal: Dry-Age Prime Rib, Heritage Turkey, etc. Over time, I've made a conciencous effort to get my proteins here. My rotation has usually been their chicken leg quarters, ribeyes, lamb rib chops, and pork steaks. Recently, I made tandoori lamb chops (my favorite dish) with their American lamb, and it was honestly one of the best versions I've ever made (photo attached). A few extra notes: * Go during the week if you can. It's less crowded and the experience is more personal -- you get to actually talk to the folks behind the counter. * The walkways are tight. Not their fault, just something to be aware of if you're on the taller or bigger side. * Hours can be tough for a 9-to-5. They're open Wednesday through Friday during the week and close at 5, so I've had a few near-misses trying to swing by after work. Weekends are open, but plan ahead. * Online pricing would be a nice add -- would help with planning. * Wishlist: Would love to see limited offerings of premium versions of other proteins -- Iberico or Berkshire pork, Mary's pasture-raised chicken, Ora King salmon, bluefin tuna. And spirits (bourbon, rum) would be a fun addition. Overall, a great business and a real value-add to the community. I'll keep coming back - highly recommend checking out!
