When I really want a good burger I will go to shake shack of course but due to it being in the city and I'm in New Jersey it just doesn't match so I have the choice of choosing Smashburger or Five Guys. I really like SmashBurger for having more variety but I got to say Five Guys Burger are a different story and pair that up with some cajun fries and wash it down with some black tea and snack on some peanut and boom your done for the day. read more

Hate to do this, but I'm giving this place a 3 (3.5 if such rating was possible). I had great expectations prior to trying their burger and fries; hence, the disappointment (just a tad bit). The ingredients tasted fresh (irregular patties=not out of the package) and I loved their fresh cut fries. However, the wow factor was missing. Maybe it was because I was expecting something comparable to In'N'Out and it just wasn't. Sorry, I'm a snob when it come to burgers and fries. For one, I was expecting cajun style fries with a kick but instead got fries tossed in bay seasoning. I also prefer skinny fries to steak fries. All in all, I liked the place. I loved it and I will definitely go back. A burger place that cooks fresh beef burgers and fries fresh cut french fries makes me happy. The prices were very good too: ~$6 for a double patty burger with your your choice of toppings. The fries are simple, which I see some have commented on with disappointment, but which I enjoyed. A good place to have close to the office for a casual Friday lunch. Gets busy around lunch time but we've never had a problem finding a table. Burgers come out a little slow sometimes for a fast food place but I've never left here unhappy before. read more

Yum in my Tum. White Manna was one of my fav places to go, but I don't feel they are very sanitary in making burgers, handling money etc. So thank goodness when Five GUys opened up right down the street. (might I add with better parking). Just a really great fast food burger place. Big fan of the fresh food and of the franchise but, went there recently 11-10-08 on a Monday night at 7:00 pm and only 2 people working behind the counter and service was not all it has been at the past at this and other locations. Have been ducking red meat for a while but on a cold, rainy afternoon in Hackensack, I just couldn't digest another soup & salad. Decided to find out what all the hoopla, regarding 5 Guys, was all about. Definately justified. The burger was juicy and large (double patty with cheese inbetween) the fries are fresh cut, cooked in peanut oit and very tasty. Too many free toppings to list here, I chose raw onion, just for a change. Reasonably fast service, lots of seating and counter standing space if you happen to hit 5 Guys at a busy time. Atmosphere sucks, it's like eating in a all white tile ER. Prices were right, cheeseburger, fries and a bottle of water about $10-11. Coca-Cola prods. are the only available soft drink and they don't serve coffee (very disappointing; hate coke, love coffee.) All in all, I'll go back again. Maybe next time I'll try the delicious looking but over priced hotdogs. Located a few doors down from Home Depot so parking is never a problem. I went here the first week it opened. Did a little research on this chain before they opened and read tons of great reviews. I was anxious to taste the In-N-Out comparison but to my disappointment, it's just an average greasy burger with weak and uneventful toppings list. Fries aren't that great either. Old School "Boardwalk Fries" from the mall is way better than these could ever be. I'm not a Five Guys hater, just don't see the hype the rest of the reviewers experienced. read more

Five Guys gets a decent 3 from me - definitely better than Smashburger, but not as good as Bobby's Burger Palace. I know some people like their burgers extra greasy, but these are a bit too oily for me (they're still delicious.) When I'm in the mood for a classic cheeseburger with a lot of additions (grilled onions, pickles, jalapenos) I'll come to Five Guys once in a while. Their fries, especially the cajun-spiced kind, are way better than the BBP's. Otherwise, I'll usually stick to Bobby's for my burger fix. * Over the years, I've found quite a lot of interesting looking mutant peanuts in the big complimentary boxes that Five Guys has. Compared to Bobby Flays, and SmashBurger, 5 Guys is my favorite. The fries are very good as long as you aren't doing take out. The second those spuds get cold they simply aren't appealing. But straight out of the fryer with a healthy dose of vinegar, salt, and pepper...yum. I also think the burger by far beats the tar out of Bobby Flay's so called gourmet offerings. I like them pretty simple with raw onions, mustard and hot sauce. Cheese depends on my mood, and I do wish there was a few other choices besides standard american just to shake it up. Good , solid burgers and fries. Not the best presentation of food and service though. They give you a big brown bag laden with grease. Fries strewn all over the bag. Burgers wrapped in foil. All this and we didn't even take it to go. How about a serving tray and scrap the bag and foil. Just not a great way to start out. Taste is good though BBP is far better. Better burgers, fries and atmosphere. BBP just feels more comfy and the service is better. Little more but well worth it. Plus you can get your burger cooked anyway you like it. 5 guys only well done, but mine was kind of juicy or greasy (not sure which). read more

i was going to give this spot 3 stars but after seeing all the bad reviews people gave this place i felt obligated to give it 4 and heres why..very limited menu..burgers, fries, hot dogs..its a burger joint thats what they serve, period. burgers are really good..i saw another reviewer compare their burgers to wendys and thats just outlandish..their burgers are a million times better than any fast food like wendys or mcdonalds..fries remind me of boardwalk fries..fresh potatoes and cut fresh..really really good..they offer a ton of free toppings for your burgers as well as a good variety of condiments..i admit the place can be a little messy looking at times but its not so dirty where you wouldnt sit down and have a burger..seating is limited and at a busy time you may be waiting for someone to finish and get up to grab theirs..overall good burger spot. read more

This is the worst five guys I've ever been to as I was standing in line to get my food a women in front of me "hey you" I looked up in front of me and she was screaming at me that I'm a stupid white cracker and was following me all around five guys harassing me. I looked at the workers for help as they saw what was happening to me and I already paid for my food and I wasn't about to leave without it. They told me to just ignore. she eventually left after about 5 minutes of following me and screaming at me about what I look like. I was so upset and I will never go back here ever again. read more
