Simply. Fricken. Awesome. Period. I've tried lots and lots of burger joints from all over the place. Usually, though, a company will promote itself as having "the best burger in the history of the awesome burger universe" and I will go and try it and it will either be mediocre, at best, or a complete and total epic failure (*cough*Burger Jones*cough*). Anyway, I digress. Five Guys doesn't mess around. They have ground hamburger patties, buns, and some toppings, and condiments. That's it, that's all they do.. which I totally LOVE because they focus on what they know and have perfected it. They don't try to get creative by deep frying bacon, or using grilled cheese sandwiches as their buns.. it's just a fricken amazing, simple burger. I love that you get to pick all of your toppings. They're kind of like the Subway of the burger world. The only thing that disappointed me was their fries. Granted, I didn't go there for fries.. but it would have been nice to have a really good thing of fries to go with my burger. The other plus.. the price. Note-a "little" burger=1 patty, regular=2. Regular fries are plenty for 2 people. OK...5 stars for the burger, 2 stars for the fries, 4 stars for service The burger itself was way better than I expected, and better than any other fast food burger (except In-n-Out). It was one of the best I've had in awhile. Super fresh, and I love all the veggie toppings at no charge. Bun was perfectly toasted. Pretty bummed that the only cheese option is processed American (BF got a cheeseburger, and the cheese didn't even look melted either). I can't get Swiss but I can get green peppers on my burger? Weird. BF and I spilt regular Cajun fries (I agree Sarah P, is there really a need for a wasteful, ugly Styrofoam cup for these?!). Unless the definition of Cajun is "covered in seasoned salt" I'm not sure these qualify as Cajun. Like others, I didn't like the texture, or insane saltiness of my fries. Went at 8pm on Friday and there was plenty of seating. I'd come back for the burger if I'm running errands in Edina, but with all the local burger joints so close to my house, I'm not sure I'd make a special trip. I was a little nervous trying Five Guys after hearing they do all their burgers well done. The only thing I'd prefer less is a raw hamburger patty. But nothing to worry about here, the burger was still nice and juicy and flavorful. If you want just a normal sized burger, order the "little cheeseburger" not just a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger is a double and it's huge. The little one was more than enough for me. I ordered mine with ketchup, mustard, onions and pickles. I could have use a little more mayo (I could always use a little more mayo) but it was awesome! I love that they cut the onions into chunks instead of keeping them in rings, it was so much easier to eat that way. The fries are good too, kind of like you'd get at the fair with the skin still on. I usually don't even order fries and if I do I barely eat any. I easily ate half of these, they were delicious. I'd definitely say Five Guys is in the running for best hamburger (traditional) right up there with My Burger. The only thing that might dissuade me from this place is the location, France is pretty much always a disaster, and with The Container store and other businesses sharing a fairly small parking lot, I can imagine at meal times ( I got there right before 11am when they opened) the parking can get pretty sticky. read more

Wednesday at 1230 and we were able to find seating for six folks. Perhaps it was because I hadn't sunk my teeth into a beef patty in a while (a few weeks), or perhaps it was the smell of the grease dripping off the meat? Either way - delish. Loved the service. I heard about this place on that special had where Brian Williams spent the day with Obama and Obama decided to go out and buy his staff his lunch from Five Guys. I figure if it's good enough for the President, it should be good enough for me and it was! This is basically my replacement for In-N-Out. The burgers are assembled in the same assembly line fashion and they both use fresh ingredients. However, it would seem Five Guys has slightly more in the condiments department. Five Guys has a plethora of toppings that you can put on your burger (including fried onions and grilled mushrooms). Being my first time there, I opted for everything. Which basically makes a generous sized burger to begin with absolutely ginourmous. Plus I made the mistake of ordering fries as well. Let's just say I was not able to finish everything. However, what I was able to finish, was absolutely delicious. The burger had the "made-it-myself" taste. Everything tasted fresh. And the fries were pretty good. Like In-N-Out, they make them from scratch. Unlike In-N-Out, they are actually good. I believe this is the first store in MN. So it was pretty packed. It's a pretty small space so seating is pretty limited. Hopefully they do well enough to open up a couple more locations in the state. The only thing that was missing from this meal was a shake! I love Five Guys. I don't eat burgers and fries that often anymore but when I do if I can help it this is where I go. I like the burgers. For the price I feel like they nuke the competition out of the water. This location has only disappointed me once in the probably 6-7 times I've been. It was an anomaly, the buns were getting stale. I give em a pass on that because it was only once. I love the peanuts. I love the burgers. I love the fries. (gf says the fries are too soggy, and i've seen other reviewers mention it too but to that I say heartily, "MEH") Here's what I don't like about this location. The parking situation. Why does Edina/France Ave have so many shopping areas with such fucked up and inadequate parking. I thought this was the area richies shop how they hell do they park their Hummers, Escalades, Lexus and Mercedes SUV's in these tiny lots compact cars have trouble navigating and finding a parking spot anywhere near your destination is harder than winning gold in the Olympics. Place wasn't busy no big deal wasn't even a little annoyed went up there politely asked the man for a side of Mayo. He said you have to buy at register said I did cash register lady must have forgot. I decided to check this place out as there has been a lot of buzz and it is down the street from where I work. I was put off by the crowded interior and the long line out the door, but the line actually moved pretty fast and even better there are free peanuts to munch on while you wait. I got a burger and fries- the "small" burger which was more than enough for lunch, and the cajun seasoned fries. The burger gets four stars- a real hunk of meat that is a step up from a fast food burger of more or less the same price. Even better they put on tons of toppings- onions, peppers, mushrooms etc free of charge. I don't like cheese on my burgers, but a friend of mine did complain that all they have is American cheese, which I have to say is pretty lame. The fries on the other hand get two stars. While they give you a generous portion (greasifying the whole bag), the seasoning overpowers the whole potato flavor- and it is not even a very good flavor. It is too strong, when subtle spicing would have been great. Also the fries were soggy, which is just unacceptable. So it is worth checking out but I don't think I will be a regular. A nicely cooked juicy patty with any topping you want - what more could you ask for in a burger. They toast their buns too - it must be some sort of honey wheat because it's a little sweet. I liked it. Their fries are great. Freshly cooked and crispy - they always give you more than the cup can contain so they put it in a brown bag for you. Nice! Long list of extras you can add to your burger like jalapeños, fried onions, hot sauce, A1 and all the usuals of course. The add ons are free. The fries are good. They give you a ton. No need to pat the corner of your mouth with cloth napkins after taking a dainty bite. If you want to pay gourmet $10 burgers (without fries), then go to Burger Jones. If you want to save some money and eat at a real burger joint head on to 5 guys. Parking is limited during lunch hour. Ride your bike so you can burn off the fat. Not bad for a franchise. Stopped in with my kids and their friends... My first Five Guys experience. Burgers are good but I thought the hype made then quite overrated. The burger wasn't anything special and I think there are several better options in the Twin Cities. However, they had a steady stream of customers even at 2:15pm. Service was good but not great.. The cooks all looked overwhelmed. And, all of the tables were dirty... I had to ask to have one cleaned off for us (which they did promptly). Note: they have peanuts for customers when you walk in the door. Thus, peanut shells are all over the floor. Not good for those with a peanut allergy. read more

Very straight forward, excellent chow. The fries are fresh, and the sign on the wall told us the name of the farm today's potatoes were from - nice touch. They had the right kind of vinegar (Heinz Malt) as well. WARNING - The regular burger is a DOUBLE! If you want a normal burger, get the Little Burger. Holy fries Batman! This was my first time eating at a Five Guys Burgers and Fries and before I went in with my friend, he told me that an order of fries, just the regular size, was too much for two people. I had my doubts, but he was right. I kept looking in the bag to see if there was a false bottom in the bag that people just get refilling without our knowledge. So if you go definitely, save some money and just split an order of fries. The burgers were juicy and delicious which was impressive since all the burgers are cooked until well done. I had a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup, pickles and mushrooms. The burger was huge around $5.74 for two patty burger. They have a list of toppings that you can get on your burger for free. The one drawback which refrains me from getting them 5 stars is the dining room is tiny and you feel like you are one top of people. Also, parking is a little hard to find so prepare to circle a bit. Food/Drink: Ordered the standard burger, fries and a coke. Knew ahead that the fries are plenty enough to split, but went for my own anyways. Ordered the cheeseburger not realizing that they were doubles (I'm guessing the "littles' are singles) which was a pleasant surprise. Ketchup and fries for everyone..... Ambiance: It's a chain and it's decent. Peanuts at the entrance (if you're allergic, probably best to to stay away) and the setup is pretty quick to get your food, get your drinks and everything else and prepare for eating the good stuff. Tables turnover pretty quick which is a good thing if you're in a hurry for lunch or with kids. Service: Good. I was reminded about the fries since they recognized two of us coming through the line as a group. And I screwed up and forgot to ask for something on my burger and they didn't miss a step and got it on there. Overall: Rating by stars is tough. Don't get me wrong, if I wanted a chain burger and fries, I'd be here. You get good value for money and you won't walk away hungry. Delicious burgers, state fair style/quality/quantity fries, friendly and enthusiastic staff...the only negative is the seating is a bit limited during busy times, but that is a pretty minor complaint as while busy, I have always managed to find a table. Parking in the lot they share is pure hell though, but that's not their fault. I can see why this place does so well. You choose what goes on the burger, and the toppings are FREE!!! For this reason, i expanded my usual burger vocabulary to include relish, lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, mayo, cheeeese.....it was good. So, the toppings were not only put on top of a delishly cooked burger, but they were fresh! The bf got jalapeños on his burger, and they were....green....like a real green, not a puke green. It was awesome. Only 4 stars 'cause of the mess. There's no plates, and they just kind of shoved the (albeit delicious) fries into a bag for us to sort through. It was a little awkward. This is a nice, casual burger joint. The employees seem happy to work here and that makes it more fun. There is little for ambiance with bright fluorescent lights and the rock-hard chairs are uncomfortable. The food is quite good though. The burgers are highly customizable for no up charge and the fries are hand cut pieces of deliciousness. Definitely order the little burger and small fries. The little burger is still quite large and the little fries are enough to share. I made the mistake of ordering a regular fries to share and we only ate about 1/3 of them combined. Recently, I have moved back to MN from NV. One of the joys in life that I had never realized that I had lived without was In-N-Out. That being said, I may have found my new MN fast food burger home! The junior cheeseburger was much larger than anything I needed to eat on Saturday and the options for FREE toppings made my beating heart still for a few moments. The toppings also made room for creativity, which In-N-Out lacks, including green peppers on a burger?? Strange, but DELICIOUS! Let me tell you about this location. This location is on point! I've never had an issue with my food being fresh and just the way I like it I went in yesterday and Parker helped me he was kind respectful fast and he didn't miss a beat I like going places where the environment is positive the food is good and it's well worth The drive this is the only five guys that I will go to even though I live in Bloomington the cook I didn't get his name but he was on it orders were flying and I'm talking online orders to pick ups to walk-ins they had the food fast out and ready for everyone. Considering the pandemic I would think that they would be a lot slower especially with only two people but nope the Hispanic cook and Parker were awesome they should honestly get a raise they were so good that I purchased a soda after buying my food just like to give them a tip read more

YUM!!! Have just moved here from LA was looking for an In N Out surrogate. Its very hard to compare the two (both good for different reasons) but we definitely found our burger place in our new home town. Some of the other reviews had a problem about lack of options for cheese but it didn't bother me one bit. Its not a gourmet burger place, just a REALLY good burger place. Get over it people! I have been here twice and have enjoyed the experience both times. The first time I got the normal sized burger...big mistake, the thing was enormous! I couldn't eat the whole thing and didn't have very much room for fries (which by the way are fresh cut and fried in peanut oil, yum!) The second time I dined here I wasn't in the mood for a burger but I wanted the FRIES! So I got a grilled cheese instead...it was very tasty, they turned the bun for the burgers inside out to make it which I thought was rather clever. All in all a good place...and they have free peanuts which is always cool in my book.
