I was playing ball at the park nearby and decided to try them out. They have their own little parking lot, so easy parking. Walked in, staff was super friendly and helped with recommendations. I think they're known for their hot dogs but I was craving a burger. Small on the inside, felt like a very old school burger joint. Also had seating outside. Inside felt crammed a little. I've been a regular patron of Uncle Frankie's for years, but I'm disappointed with an employee's conduct. On May 30, 2026, at 4: 30 ish PM, I asked for the name of the young lady serving me at the register, the cook said her name was Colleen. Colleen was very rude, and disrespectful! There was a restaurant for customers, She was constantly saying she disliked her job, and you can smell beer on her breath. She used vulgar language and argued with a customer about there orders, telling customers they can go elsewhere. She was constantly telling customers that she was recovering drug user. (wow) I don't understand stand why Jay and Larry allow this behavior. I must say the other employees are very respectful, kind, and very professional I won't be a customer of Uncle Frankie's if that's the kind of help he hires. read more

I really wanted this place to be special. It just wasn't. I went there for the pastrami but it just didn't measure up to my expectations. If I were to go there again I'd ask them/him to leave the sauerkraut off, the onions off and to serve it on the same bun they use for Italian beet with just mustard and pickles. There were just too many clashing flavors and smells that just didn't belong. The pickles were delicious. We asked for the sauce for the Italian beef to be served on the side. Came to Uncle Frankies many times over the last couple years and every time I end up disappointed with the food. The quality just is not where it should be for the price. I have tried a lot of different items on the menu including the burgers, chicken sandwich, wings, cheese curds, fries, and their Italian beef sandwich, and none of them really stood out. The only thing I actually enjoy is the hot beef sandwich, but even that feels overpriced at around 18 dollars for the double loaded version. The place is supposed to capture that hole in the wall Chicago feel, and while I like the idea, the food and pricing do not really match that vibe. Service is hit or miss, the owner is nice and I have had a few good conversations, but some of the other staff have come off as dismissive and uninterested. One of the times I was there, I also saw the owner have a strange interaction with one of his cooks where he came off as kind of rude, which felt uncomfortable to watch. The restaurant is small inside and can get crowded fast if a few people show up at once. I def think it has potential if they toned down the heat. I ordered the spicy Cajun brat & the juicy Lucy. The Cajun brat was really missing the heat. I couldn't taste any cajun seasoning nor spice... It was def a good grilled brat but just lacking. The juicy Lucy was pretty juicy tho! The cheese was pouring out! Just a tad bit over cooked in my opinion, it would def be godly if it was medium rare instead of well done. Seating was a lil cramped inside. There's tons more seating outside which is great on a nice cool day. The service was very nice as well. I 100% recommend ordering their craft sodas tho. This place is a tremendous value. To think that eating here is CHEAPER than fast food is amazing. The fries were especially good. Crispy and salted appropriately. They were served piping hot, straight from the fryer. We had to wait a long time for our food, they accidentally lost our ticket... however, this experience made me enjoy the experience because I was able to witness their incredible customer service to make things right. I will frame this review: This is a divey fast food place. Menu is expansive but limited at the same time (I mean, its brats and fried food I get it), not the most inviting location but it absolutely has character. But for what it is, its perfect in my opinion. The guy working the counter was an absolute character, almost overly friendly and made me feel right at home the first time there. This small hot dog/burger restaurant in Northeast Minneapolis was an overall fun experience. After looking through the menu, I decided on what is supposed to be their signature hot dog, the "Chicago Dog." I'm not a huge hot dog person in general, but the blend of flavors from the many ingredients, including their secret special seasoning, changed my perception of what can be done with a hot dog. Uncle Franky's is a gem. The place is small with limited seating. There is a small patio. Small parking lot. My husband and I were heading to the Disney Animation Immersive Disney Experience nearby. I had a plain regular hot dog as I was not feeling adventurous. (Long day as work. I wasn't in the mood to be adventurous.) Thankfully they were able to accommodate this. The staff members were friendly even though they were half hour 'til closing. They also carried MinneSoda. We will definitely need to come back. Cool hole-in-the-wall type restaurant. Ordered the Carolina Slaw dog and enjoyed the huge load of chili and slaw on it. Then you don't like Chicago food, don't come eat here and complain. You don't like hot dogs? Then don't come here and order a hot dog. You come 5 minutes before closing and complain it wasn't perfect? Then get up off the couch and go 30 minutes earlier and maybe don't act like a spoiled baby. You don't like Sauerkraut and onions with your pastrami? Then don't order the pastrami w/ kraut & onions. You don't need a straw to consume a milkshake. Plastic straws get stuck in turtles' noses. You can consume a milkshake w/o one? Bring your own reusable metal straw! Frozen deep fried potato fries are normal at a joint like this. You don't like that, don't order it, go spend $50 at your fav cheffy place where you can show off your newest wearable and platinum credit card. It's a bad neighbourhood?!? No, no, it is not! Uncle Franky's serves delicious, pretty much 9/10 authentic Chicago style food. Their employees are friendly, good people who care about their community and take care of people, all at a very reasonable price. The Maxwell Polish, the NY NY pastrami, the sloppy, wet Italian beef are all great. The chili cheese fries are good, if not the absolute best thing ever in the universe. If you don't like these things, you should probably not come eat here and leave a poor review. It's a classic hole in the wall that offers burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches. If you're looking for some solid picnic-style food, you cannot go wrong here. They have a big menu full of popular summer dishes a la carte style. My personal picks here are the Krispy Chicken sandwich ($6.95) and the Uncle Franky Burger. I get mine as a double ($5.95). I've had both their krinkle fries ($2.89 for a regular which is plenty), tater tots ($3.75 for a regular) and onion rings ($6.95) and I love the tater tots the most. Their krinkle fries are good, but nothing special. Uncle Franky's is a small space, so expect there to be a line when you arrive. The dining area inside is a bit cramped, so if the weather's nice, I'd recommend eating outside at one of their picnic tables. Everything's made to order, so while you wait, they'll give you a beeper that will go off once your order's ready. There's plenty of free parking in their lot, so no need to worry about that. Uncle Franky's is simple, straight-forward, and has maintained their quality over the years. I still need to try one of their famous hot dogs, so I will be back soon! read more

Yaaaaass!! I was craving a nostalgic polish and was looking for a place we could enjoy the great weather. What a sweet spot. We stopped in right before the rush on Saturday and we were able to grab a seat outside. There's like 6 tables with umbrellas out back. You order inside and they call your name when it's ready and you go grab it. They take cash and credit. The staff is fun and friendly and make it a great experience. We ordered a Maxwell Polish and a Polish with just ketchup with a side of fries. Definitely was a great Polish. Great snap every bite. Delish. We will definitely be back and you should try it.
