    Small Fries $2.59 (2/09)
    Vivian C.

Recently, on Phantom Gourmet, I was exposed to the Five Guys way of serving french fries - they stick the styrofoam cup of fries into the paper bag, and they top it off more even more fries... sounded good to me! The oily bag is their logo... that didn't sound so good since greasy seats aren't my thing. After my morning of shopping, I stopped off at Five Guys Burger and Fries in Dedham just to grab an order of their fries - $2.72 (after tax) for a small. They served it up to me quick, and I stuck it in a plastic bag I had on hand. Noticing the box of peanuts on the counter, I crushed the shell off one and popped the nut into my mouth. A sign by the door requests that peanuts are eaten on the premises in consideration of allergic folk in the neighborhood - that's considerate. I filled two take out plastic sauce containers with Heinz ketchup (is there any other kind?) and noticed 1) little lemon juice thingies (ReaLemon)... I wonder what they're for? and 2) a sign listing the potato of the day (that was neat). Once I got in the car, I quickly took out the napkins (lots!) and ate a few fries. Hot, crispy, but could stand a little more salt. But I love that it is the kind of fry that looks like it was a potato in a past life. :)

A breath of fresh air in this chain-infested corner of Dedham! The hamburgers are griddled before your very eyes and served up fresh with the toppings of your choice. Plus this little mom'n'pop organization allows you to order the 'Regular'( two patties) or a 'Junior' version (one patty) depending on how hungry you might be. They proudly display the town where that day's potatoes came from so you get a sense of history and context with your French fries-- I basically felt like I was eating at a Farmer's Market! Two do-it-yourself Coke machines allow you to come up with outrageous drink choices like Orange Cream Diet Coke. As with my Second Amendment Rights--I don't want to own a Glock any more than I want to drink Raspberry Lime Root Beer but it's always nice to have the option. Really can't say enough good things about this lunch mecca. Minus 1 star for a small-ish dining area and minus another for the eventual scientific finding that links 5 Guys to triple bybass surgeries the world over.

    Free peanuts!

Good burgers and fries. Service is a little slow. They are not my favorite burger place, but a close second.

Really tasty chicken. Open late. Friendly service. Overall it was good for what I needed. I would…read morenot say run there you have to try it. I had the chicken bowl it was a somewhat small serving of chicken. I moved it from the bowl to cut it up. I ended up eating just the chicken, sour cream and beans. I asked for less rice but the bowl is mostly rice so I don't think they accommodated that request. Corn was dry. Lettuce is iceberg and minimal. If you like rice this would be a good choice.

I was looking for something different to eat and I like hip hot dog spots with various toppings. I…read moreexpected it to be pricey like $6-7 a dog but not $10 to $16 a dog. That killed it for me to buy more than one. After checking out Yelp photos and the online menu first upon arrival, I settled on the "New York Style" hot dog with small fry (3.50) and no drink. It came out to $15. It took a little while to get my order. I was there ordering with the cashier before some guy came after to order by kiosk which got his order first. My hotdog was loaded and tasted amazing. After finishing, I wish I had another because I wasn't full even after the fries. But I could never pay $20 for 2 hotdogs. Shop was clean and cute inside. Cashier was nice. A fairly new resident recommended the chicken bowl next time. The only other location is on the Natick Mall. They would be more busy if they come down $3-$4. Hope they aren't wasting their toppings with these prices.

Thought I'd give this place a try again after a few years, and I can see why I haven't been back…read more First of all, the pricing is beyond absurd! Ordered a large clam strips 0/10 It was a large portion but they were extremely soggy and rubbery, could barely chew them. I did call and make them aware and they advised I had to come back to either get it remade or get something else instead. I would've preferred my money back because my replacement wasn't any better Pepperoni pizza 4/10 Had a good amount of toppings but the bottom was completely soggy and falling apart Steak combo 5/10 It was okay but the bread was overly toasted and there wasn't much meat for the price point Fried dough 8/10 It's really good but not worth the price for the portion size and I'd wish they'd break up the powdered sugar instead of throwing giant rocks in the box. French fries 6/10 They're French fries. Nothing to call home about Cheesecake 6/10 Good sized slice but not a fan of the fake strawberry glaze on it Grilled chicken Salad 5/10 Portion size is good but mainly lettuce and not the other toppings and the grilled chicken just tasted of char. No other flavor The place looks completely run down outside and the woman at the windows attitude matched, however, the man on the phone was really nice and accommodating. For the price they should definitely be giving better quality food and larger portions.
