I was craving some fried seafood and was recently disappointed by a visit to Kelly's roast beef and their terrible clam platter.... This place hit the spot and Johanna was very nice and friendly, and served me attentively. The seafood platter had everything and home made tartar sauce & Cole slaw. Definitely way too much food for one person- so bring a friend or two... Priced at 28 for no bellies and extra 10$ for full bellies- can't beat that price outside the cape. The restaurant has a great, small town feel to it- and does great breakfasts. I wish it was a little cleaner and the tables and floors looked like they could use a good cleaning. It's nice to have non chain family restaurants like this around that name you feel at home. read more

I have given this place 3 chances is the last 3 weeks and been disappointed. Breakfast sandwich with side of home fries. Sandwich was small for $9 but ok tasting however potato's were old, dry, luke warm and zero flavor. Next: Clam strip dinner... requested crispy received cold, pale, soggy strips and a very small portion for the price along with some OLD coleslaw, took a tiny bite and it was mush with rancid mayo. Last: Cheeseburger club, requested well done. Received raw in center and a small pile of cold grease dripping fries. I did return the burger and got my money back. Never again!!!! What a shame I wanted to like this place because of its location. read more

WOW. What a hidden gem! They got the hostess with the mostest named, Tricia. The fantastic broiled and fried fish platters and cozy ambiance, just a solid pick all the way round. Have patience, the food is worth the wait! I can't stress that part enough. Homemade lemonade, homemade onion rings, homemade potatoes, homemade cole slaw, clams with or without bellies, etc. As Arnold said in the Terminator movies,"I'll be back!" read more

Such a quaint spot. If you're in the area and are looking for yummy seafood, I'd recommend stopping by. I was looking for a lunch spot that served fresh seafood; I'm so glad I found this place. I ordered the clam strips. They came with fries. I also ordered an iced tea. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I'd definitely stop back here again. Neighborhood restaurant - we took our children along with friends here. Reasonable selection of seafood

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!!!!!! The fishermen platter was cooked just right and the batter was light not heavy. Perfect

If I could give 10 stars I would. Was on vacation in Dedham for the week and happened to stumble upon this place on day 1 for breakfast. Long story short we had breakfast there every morning and diner there once. From the fish and chips to the egg breakfast there is no way to go wrong here. The service is unmatched and brings southern hospitality to the north. I can't recommend this place any more. read more

I eat here frequently. The food is very good and the menu is varied. It's a friendly place. Everyone feels welcome and there are many long-time customers. I enjoy being there whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is accommodating to whatever you want to order, even if it's not exactly on the menu. A great place to go to with friends and family. read more

I gave this restaurant 2 stars because the waitress was very friendly. However my daughter and I ordered fish and chip and my granddaughter ordered spaghetti. The food was unseasoned and pieces of the fish had bones in them and other pieces were undercooked. The pasta for my granddaughters spaghetti was overcooked and only had a spoon full of spaghetti sauce on top. Some of the fries were burnt and others were soggy. As my daughter attempted to eat the fish she felt nauseous and excused herself to the bathroom as her daughter yelled out Nasty. Fisherman's Restaurant - Seafood Near Me - Dedham, Massachusetts

To be honest, wasn't expecting much, looking for a cheap diner experience, and to grab a quick dinner on a Sunday night. Night. Walked into the restaurant, there were a few regulars, and a single waitress, with a cook in the back... Otherwise the place was empty What became quickly apparent, this place was like cheers, where everybody knows your name. Take out and dine in customers were all on first name basis with the wait staff and it was obvious these relationships developed over many years. Apparently they've been in business over 40 years, and there must be a good reason My lady friend ordered the fisherman's platter, heaps of fried clam strips, haddock pieces, scallops, shrimp... All golden fried to perfection. Waitress said it was larger than the standard fish and chips, substituting onion rings which were $1.50 up charge Rather than the onion rings coming out with dinner, they were brought out as an appetizer- large circles of whole onion, lightly battered, not greasy and piping hot... Absolutely yummy A short time later, out came two huge plates of seafood. My lady friend doesn't need clams so she gave them to me.... The clam strips alone were enough for my dinner (waitress did tell us in the future they could substitute out the clams or any of the other seafood for something that you would like better) we've eaten at numerous seafood restaurants in Maine and New Hampshire, including some of the more famous places like Woodman's, and I have to say her plate was second to none, even with me eating the clams, she left with more than enough fish for another night I wish I could give more inside of my fish and chips, but honestly after the onion rings the clams and one shrimp all I had room for was a small piece of the fish! Again, lightly breaded, fried to perfection, fresh and hot. Left. There was at least enough for another dinner French fries were average, thin Frozen, nothing special. BUT coleslaw and the tarter sauce Are both fresh, homemade and delicious.. I'm somewhat hesitant on leaving this review-- the fisherman's, is a local gem and for selfish reasons I don't want it to get too popular Can I speak for the rest of the menu but the fried seafood was second To none and equal to some of the best that I've had in New England.... If you're not looking for a ton of ambience, I would definitely give this a try read more

Family run place that cares about the food they serve. We've had a variety of their fried and baked seafood dinners over the years, and while I'm not a fan of most "mainstream" restaurant fare, we keep coming back because they know how to cook fish. The wait time is very reasonable. The fish seems to be carefully-selected in the 1st place, and then well-prepared. Good prices and portions. Whenever I want a fish and chips dinner, this is who I call, even though it's a little more than a local drive for me. I usually get take-out, but I have eaten "in," and it's a quaint, neat place. read more

The one star is for Tricia because she's a really nice lady. We were in town for just a couple of days and really really wanted to have a lobster roll and stay in the area so we ended up here...well... lobster roll: frozen and soggy just dumped on a bun for $26!!!???!!! crab patties: bready and burnt enough said, don't waste your money here read more

Not good. Bad smell. Slow service on take out. Food not good. Time to close the doors. Sorry to say. But i have heard the pizza is good.

Portions: Huge. Taste: Freshly fried fish/seafood/clams, breading isn't too thick, no off-taste from overused oil. Service: Very, very nice ladies serving. They let you take your time, don't gawk at you, make jokes. Environment: Relaxed, seafaring/seafoody diner with a TV on the wall read more

The server was extremely pleasant, and she was very friendly. Now.. The reason for the 1 star. The food was just plain awful and it took forever for the food to come out. I ordered the broiled haddock with mashed potatoes and it arrived 30 minutes later. I am not sure what kind of fish was put in front of me, but I am 100% sure that it was not haddock, and it wasn't good. The mashed potatoes were terrible as well. The place didn't feel all that clean and the bathrooms were gross. On top of all that, the prices are very high. read more

walked in and asked for a fried clam plate. When it came out I was charged $37 for it! Website prices aren't real. The coleslaw was inedible. It was just a blob of flavorless mayo with little shredded cabbage. I had better mass produced ones. Not a good value for what I got. The Clam Box in Quincy is way better, and cheaper! Sad to say- I grew up just up the street from it; it was way better back then. read more

I used to go here years and years ago, I moved away and returned to the area last Spring. I remembered this place and thought I'd give it a shot. Because it's on my way home, I had been stopping by occasionally to pick up a meal - usually on Friday. The vibe was okay, the food was okay, and the lady working was always friendly, upbeat and helpful, so... why not. The last couple of Fridays when I have gone in my friendly lady hasn't been there. My service experience changed for sure, and not for the better. The gals now are .... slow! Not engaging! Unkept and messy looking - kind of unclean! Not the experience I'm looking for. The last time I had to wait a long time for my take out. While waiting, I had a chance to look around...there is no question the place has been run into the ground over the years. I was usually in and out and never notice how dirty it is, the floors, the walls, the windows, and if the staff is using that dirty bathroom then serving my food, that's disgusting. It's bad. When there's never a wait, I draw a concern. When I started paying attention.... the lady cooking (no gloves), the service (slow and blah), the cleanliness (dirty), I realized the only thing I could give 1 thumbs up for was my Friday woman that served me (she was delightful and charming). She seems to be gone and I am too. It's sad to say, but I don't think I'll be back. Hey Fisherman's, do yourself a favor, close your doors for a few months, then put some time, energy and money into the pace and make it habitable (heck, up to standard). It's run down, old, and dirty and sometimes a facelift is good. Good luck! Hey folks, don't do it until they give you what you are paying for!! read more

While New England seafood establishments have become inherently ubiquitous the painstaking hunt for authenticity is alive and well. Abandoning the cliche of being a " hidden gem " or " diamond in the rough" Fishermans Restaurant fulfills its purpose of delivering exactly what is expected and intended, solid, simple fried and broiled seafood with a hit of nostalgia. Fishermans was founded in 1980 and has maintained the consistency of its tight lipped recipe through 2 generations of being family owned and operated. To truly satisfy your pallet the Seafood platter will melt the mouths of plebeians and aristocrats alike. Scallops, shrimp, fish, clams ( strips or succulent whole bellies ), fries and the optional thinly sliced fresh onion rings, all lightly battered and ever so slightly seasoned as to push the flavors of ocean forward into your consciousness. Fishermans doesn't lure you in with social media or advanced marketing campaigns touting hipster fusion or a gimmicky setting. They simply do what they have always done and will continue to do. Prepare, bake, fry or broil Seafood the way you remember it in days long since forgotten. It its operated solely on word of mouth backed by its own reputation that has lead to 44+ years of business. With the fisherman himself Louis Hinoporos still helming the ships kitchen and menu, you are assured to experience the tried and true taste of the sea. read more

This restaurant discriminates against people of Color and different ethnicity. They charged me double the cost of my lunch and when I questioned them they stated the menu price was old and needed updating and they continued to give shady and weak excuses. So they thought if they took off the charge of my drink and the taxes, it would suffice. What happened to my friend who ordered the same seafood plate as another white customer , my friend's plate had far less fish, etc. We will not come back and as I belong to a few national organizations and local organizations, I will share our experiences with them. Discrimination is against the law. read more

This place is great for an inexpensive breakfast (check out the picture I took of a breakfast that cost $4.99). The owners are so nice and the food is good and so affordable. We live 30 minutes South of Dedham and if we have plans to head up North, we always ma ke a point of stopping at Fishermans for breakfast. It does not look like much on the outside, but the inside is cute. They have tables and they have have the old fashion breakfast bar with stools. They serve lunch and dinner too but I've only had pizza from there that we ordered out, but it was great if you like Greek style pizza, which we do. My mom, who lived in Dedham and is no longer with us (god rest her soul) used to get fish here at lunch and dinner. I mean the place is called "Fishermans" so fish is probably their specialty. Definitely check this place out! read more

Fresh and tasty food, very fair price. I was driving through town and ordered "just" something to go and I was rewarded with the best fish and chips ever. For a comfortable little mom and pop place the food wasn't good at all. I'll agree with the guy who mentioned that the lobster roll is horrible. It looked, felt and tasted like over salted imitation crab meat. And that's a compliment because they also doused it in some nasty pink mayo sauce. Maybe it came from a can. I've never not finished a lobster roll. This was a first. The muffins come in a package and the lobster bisque tasted like it was made over a week ago. The cream in it was turning and a bit sour. Yuk! The one positive thing is the guy working the counter and serving. Real nice, caring guy. He gives it an extra star. read more

I went out at lunch today with a coworker to grab some take-out. All I can say so far is "way to go with the fish & chips" !!!!!!!!!!! If you like fish & chips in any way, shape or form this is a MUST TRY. Great batter, and not over cooked. First night in New England and this place was close to the hotel. You could miss the place if you blinked. It is a small local owned place and it was perfect for my first meal here. When you walk in you feel like you're a part of the entendres family that's been called in for supper. Appetizer was fried calamari. The breading was flaky and crisp. The fish was fresh. The tartar sauce was a tantalizing complement, although I liked to add a touch of hot sauce. Meal was the hamburger sub. The bread was perfectly crisp but soft. The burger didn't make it soggy, which was a thin patty that was cooked to a tasty medium. The hot peppers have a kick but are packed with a ton of flavor. I arrived shortly before closing and was still seated. The customer service was not perfect but definitely top notch. Overall a very satisfying first meal. read more
