This place is a great value, but I'm still a bigger fan of In-n-Out. Some specifics: -Fries: The small fries are huge. The cup literally runneth over, as they fill the cup, then throw in about another cup's worth of them into your bag. The fries are fresh cut (not frozen) so they taste pretty good. -Burger: Their standard burger comes with two thick slices of beef. You can add all the toppings you want for free, so that is a bonus. Ahhhhhh......five guys... My sweet sweet five guys. It is simple to explain why. The Bread is so soft and fresh, I think bread with the burger is completely underestimated and man, they do it right. Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions and anything else they got in the place--all for $4.99! That's a good deal. Although, they make up for it on the price of their fries and soda. The food kind of reminded me of "Johnny Rockets" food. The patties came out a little greasy, but good flavor. The fries were very good. It doesn't beat the big 3: my Dad's burgers on the grill, In-N-Out, or Bouchee's (downtown LBC). Oh, the service was good and friendly! One of my friends recommended this burger joint. He told me that this place is better than "in-n- out". Im a big fan of in and out and had to try this place out with him. You can make your burger from order and add all or little condiments they offer, the condiments are listed as red or black and you choose from there. I ordered the bacon cheese burger and got all black colored condiments on their menu. I gotta say that the burger was pretty good but way greasier than In-n-out. I would try and have had it again. Yes, if you haven't ate here then you are missing out. The fries are my favorite and the burgers are the best on this side of the Grand Canyon. The customer service at this location was not the greatest but was effective. Sure you get a lot of fries, but over 10bucks? Um, no thanks. Imagine feeding a family of four. That'll run you easily over 30 bucks just for burgers and fries!!! To be fair however, Five guys is a good burger joint. Have I had worse?oh yes. Have I had better? Definitely. The place was clean as I entered. No overflowing trashcans, unwiped tables or dingy graffitti scrawled restrooms. On to ordering! Service is a small factor in cases of fast food joints so I'll mention the cashier had a smile to his face and ordering was quick and prompt. I received my order in due time. Now to the meat of it all, as it were. I ordered a double cheeseburger and to duplicate it as close to In'N'Out I ordered what would be comparable. The fact that all toppings are free are great. Mine was ketchup, mayo, grilled onions and lettuce. Pretty juicy, good but like another reviewer said, something I'd cook out of my home bbq. And that's a negative! I DON'T want anything that tastes like out of someone's backyard bbq. I want a professionally made burger that I can't get anywhere else. I will say that it was big and satisfying. The fries? I ordered cajun style and it was overflowing. Spicy and fresh. The only thing they have that would give In'N'Out a run for their money. Would I go back again? I really do not understand the hype about this place. Menu does not explain the sizes, so it appears a cheeseburger, which turns out to be a double patty, is $8.00. Shocking until they explain the little burger is a regular hamburger, for about $6.00. Why? Just list them as regular and double. Staff was sullen, to be polite. Burger was mediocre, over cooked, and ordinary. Pickles were nasty butter pickles, not dills, and the BBQ sauce was so nasty, I did not finish my burger. We ordered one fry light, and one, extra crispy, but we could tell no difference whatsoever. We will not be back. InNOut? Don't even dream they compare, and service at InNOut is always pleasant, unlike here, where the staff is obviously doing the world a favor by coming to work. read more

Best fast food burger joint This is going to be argued for awhile, in-n-out, or five guys. Maybe it's because I've had In-n-Out too many times, but five guys takes the crown for me. Their burgers just taste so fresh and not that greasy. From the first bite, if you are doing a comparison with In-N-Out, might not impress you, but then you take a second bite, and then a third, and then you will feel like you can keep eating and not get tired of the taste. Even if the burgers between the two chains be argued for who is the best, the fries goes to Five guys with no contest. Think amazing fries, no heaven sent fries, no...Jesus fries. Yes, a story follows this name. A funny one at that. If I find more time and here it again from my brother, I'll write it later. The French fries with cajun seasoning are extremely addicting. Believe that these are very popular across the country, don't know why? Believe that Dave had mentioned how good the food is/was. I beg to differ. The frys were fresh but extremely oily. The amount provided was insane, I threw away 50%. Hamburger, although hand formed, fell apart. In fact looking at the cooks in the open kitchen I would have preferred that they did not touch my meat, no pun intended. The biggest turnoff was the lack of anything wet on the burger, how about a secret sauce, thousand island cmon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What got me really mad was the lack of the structural integrity of the buns, flimsy, not toasted just low grade bread. Sure they had free peanuts that you had to deshell, who cares! read more

So, I had been hearing a lot about this FIve Guys so I just had to try it out. Building a burger can be a little intimidating at first, especially when there are other people in line. One thing I don't like is that at least at this one(don't know about the others) there are no trays. Now maybe I am too used to the whole cafeteria/fast food restaurant deal, that I just need trays. Seriously though, carrying a drink and food is definitely easier and more comfortable with a tray. A bag is totally acceptable if you are on the move, but if you are eating in, there should be an option for a tray. I think that for the price one should not have to eat out of a bag o.O Also, if you are allergic to peanuts, you might just want to stay away. They use peanut oil, they have unlimited peanuts for you to eat inside. Heck I think they might have even added peanut oil to the paint :P Now I know there is this huge Team In-N-Out/Team Five Guys thing going. some friends from the other side of the country told me about this beast from the east. i dunno how i felt about an east coast chain coming in and invading my western homeland. ya know, the home of in-n-out and shit; good ol southern california. either way, my feelings meant nothing because it was happening. and it was happening now! i had to go try five guys burgers and fries when i had heard they opened. i walked up inside the store and saw boxes of peanut oil on a dolly. i dunno man. thats great and all, but i didnt come for no peanut burger. all i care is that it tastes good. then i saw a thing of free (actual real deal) peanuts? word? alright, i like regular peanuts, i can deal with this. youre starting to tug at my stomach lining a little bit. i then took a peek at the menu... BACON! word? hellz yeah. icanhazBACONcheeseburger! i sat down with my free peanuts in one hand, cold drink in the other, and my baconcheeseburger in my other hand. I was introduced to Five Guys by my MIL and my two step daughters. I'm not a big beef eater but was inclined to try it since my family raved about it. I love the fact that they do not charge extra to include everything on your burger. I took one star off because the Cajun fries were a tad too salty for my liking. Flat out better than In-n-Out. As good or better than Fuddruckers for less money. Great fries, free peanuts, fast service. I just wish there was one closer to Huntington Beach (coming soon). Five Guys. Too many jokes you can make with this restaurant's name...but yes, it is indeed a decent burger joint to hit up when you're wanting a nice juicy burger. I ordered the regular cheeseburger, which comes with two patties as opposed to the little burgers, which can come with just a patty. The meat tastes really fresh as well as the other ingredients in the burger. I also ordered the cajun fries and it was smothered with the seasoning, which I thought was too overwhelming. Not even close to you-know-who...In-and-Out burgers come well-crafted with love in a neatly wrapped bundle of compact goodness. 5 Guys burger came scrunched up in a piece of wrinkled foil like somebody brought me leftovers from a cookout. The burger itself was good size, consisting of 2 patties (not stated on the menu but I didn't mind!) but after the initially satisfying first couple bites of bun, meat, and unmelted cheese, I quickly realized this was going to be a mediocre burger experience. Satisfies your burger craving indeed. My other half had been talking this place up since his big trip to NYC oh so couple of years ago. Not bad, not bad. He says this is the east's In-N-Out. Me, I'm more of a Art's Burgers supporter, but ohwell. My other half was super stoked to take me and El Senor Picky here, so we decided to make a day of it and go to Torrance, and Carson. Hahaha. I went for the "Little Bacon Cheeseburger with BBQ sause" (single patty) the man & his son went for the real thing and got the Bacon Cheeseburger and the one with everything (double patty). Damn. Nice. Too much for me, though. It was a lot of food. Keep this in mind if you're one of those people who throws up from eating too much, and go with the "Little Burger". We also got an order each of the regular fries and the cajun fries. Really good food. Mmmm....Frankly, it reminded me of eating at home, which was funny. My brother's made burgers like these. The food was very satisfying, I'll give you that much. I also dug the free peanuts; at least they and the burger toppings were free.
