We went here for brunch before the GA LSU game and it was really good. My friends had the crab cake Benedict and shrimp and grits. My wife had the benets and I had shrimp and grits. For drinks, the girls had bellinis and the guys had bloody mary's. The bloody mary's were $8 for the first and $4 for subsequent drinks. The best part was the bloody mary bar, where you a have a huge selection of ingredients to make your own bloody mary. Brunch for four with two drinks each ran just under $80. Really not bad for a game day in Athens. I'll be visiting five bar again. read more

Love the atmosphere and concept of this trendy Athens restaurant! Everything I have tried on the menu is wonderful-especially the baked avocado! The staff is so friendly and helpful and makes dining a pleasant experience for all ages! Exceptionally surprising fresh seafood and wonderful fried chicken with an incredible Mac-n-cheese. Lettuce and veggies were so fresh. Fried green tomatoes were some of the best I have had. My wife, being from Cape Cod, has high standards for seafood. She loved everything on the seafood platter except the crab-cakes, which were not lumpy and meaty enough. We love the concept of only 5 things to choose. Also, at 5:30 on Super Bowl night, we stumbled into this place after other choices were closing to allow employees to watch the game. It was not on our radar and we're wondering why the grade on Yelp is not higher. Very few people were there. The waitress was very helpful and prompt. I also like that they give 1% to help the needy. Only one issue, and in an older building, it is understandable, but as we were waiting on the check, a small cockroach scurried along the edge of the table and disappeared. That may be an issue with some people, but after such a wonderful experience, it barely registered with us. When in Athens, we'll definitely be back. read more

My wife and I have been to Five Bar several times and each time the food has been outstanding. The stuffed shrimp is some of the best anywhere. The service has always been great, which seems to be rare in Athens. The food is a little pricey but you get what you pay for...I think it's worth it for a quality experience. read more

Waiting on a table at Last Resort and came into Five Bar for what we thought would be a drink. The four of us got a table and ordered a few apps. We were blown away by the service, atmosphere, drinks & mostly food. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the service from the waiter and additional attention from the owner were a nice touch above and beyond the fantastic food. It's replaced all of our old favorites as the number one and should definitely be your go-to next time you're in Athens. read more

Five bar used to be one of myself, family and friends favorite spots. The last few times we've been have been disappointing- the last was the worst Sat Oct 23rd in particular. From the moment we walked in for Brunch every staff member we encountered had quite an attitude and clearly did not want to be there. The hostess to start was rude but we brushed that off. The server was no better. It took 2 hours or more from when we ordered our food to receive it and the place was maybe 1/2 full or less- half of our guests food was already cold from sitting out. The server was not attentive at all, wasn't even bringing waters, coffee, nothing. She seemed to be avoiding our table as much as possible even for us to order we had to ask 3 times. When I ordered I also said my husband and I would be on the same check and she acknowledged that. We waited forever for our check to come out and because our party had more than 5 people she relayed the check was not able to be split- it had to be split evenly amongst every person so I got to pay $28 for a basic piece of avocado toast. Had she mentioned this before when I specifically asked when ordering it would have been no problem- I wouldn't have ordered. To top it off upon leaving, we went to grab a toothpick from the front bar set up and the bartender responded with a "you could have at least asked for me to get it for you". We thought she was being funny and sarcastic at first but she was dead serious. A toothpick? On the bar top? Isn't it more sanitary for the person "picking" it out to be the one to use it?? Instead of it getting passed by someone else's hands when its going in your mouth? All in all, we will not be returning to Five Bar for a long while. I've worked in the service industry. I can deal with okay food, long waits as I'm sure like every restaurant they are understaffed, but attitudes from every staff member encountered will not get my business. read more

Fun place great bartender, she was on it even being very busy! Needs to be 10bar not 5. They have fried chicken but only on Sunday. Being from out of town I wasn't and won't ever be in town on Sunday. Oh well split several of the appetizers and all were very good. Beer was cold and only a few bucks a bottle. Pretty good spot. It's a little pricey and pretty loud, but nonetheless a good spot. It is a small menue so just keep that in mind.

Tried the Sunday brunch. The Bloody Mary bar was adequate. The food was definitely tasty. The bartender was a bit caddy and less than friendly; definitely put a damper on the experience. read more

A fantastic experience from the service to the food. I had the bone in pork chop. It was perfect. Juicy and seasoned to perfection. We have given five bar another chance and we keep coming back, specifically for Sunday brunch. Everything is great on Sunday. Dinner has been superb too. Service is still hit or miss but this place is now in the standard restaurant rotation. Spent New Years in Athens with some friends, we stopped into FIVE for dinner and had a fantastic time. The food was really great and the atmosphere was very comfortable, we really liked the seafood dishes and all of the snacks. The staff was efficient and friendly which our large group appreciated, we had suck a great time that we stopped in for brunch on Sunday, our last day. The food here is excellent and the music sets for a wonderful atmosphere. They don't have a great selection of food but their sushi bar is a great addition. I like to grab cocktails and appetizers with my friends before a night downtown and I have enjoyed bringing first timers. I highly recommend Fivebar to others but I will say avoid the bar because the bartenders are not the nicest of the bunch. Twice I have waited at the bar before being sat and have had the "pleasure" of the manager's company. I have never seen someone in the service industry be so rude to her employees, and even customers. My party and I felt awkward at the bar watching hostesses get scolded. That "bartender attitude" may sit well at college bars but it is not appropriate for a fine dining restaurant. There are plenty of other restaurants in Athens that I would recommend for the service. read more

Ick. That's really all I can say about Five. As an Athens resident, I've walked past Five many times and I've always been curious. Last night, some friends came in from out of town and we decided to stop in for drinks and to check the place out, thinking that we might come back for brunch in the morning. We sat at the bar and each of the three of us attempted to order a drink. We were told that all of our selections were out. We tried again. Many of those were also out. Finally, two of us settled on something. My friend ordered one of their draft beers and the bartender set to pouring it. Apparently, she was not accustomed to this as she served my friend a beer with approximately 2 inches of foam. This would be no great cause for concern except for the fact that it was an $8 beer... We weren't impressed with the place, but we were trying to be fair until one of the women behind the bar picked up a dish towel and proceeded to blow and pick her nose with it. I was grossed out, but I might have overlooked it had she not proceeded to tuck it back into her waistband to use again. I understand that restaurants and bars run out of things all the time, so I should say that that had no bearing on this review. What I don't understand and can't tolerate is the idea that someone would blow their nose in front of customers and then use that snot-filled rag later to wipe someone's glass down. All in all, between the borderline-rude bartenders and the hygiene issues, I don't think I'll make it back for brunch. read more

So the atmosphere is the best part of this restaurant. Cool decor and furnishings. Two small bars; one in the front one in the back. The menu is very small, which means the items should be served with some serious excellence for the prices they charge. The 12oz ribeye runs for $29 - a very hefty price even next to restaurants that perfect serving steaks. The appetizers are creative and tasty, well done there. read more

Honestly disappointed in myself that I've worked on the same block as Five for three years but only just went there for the first time last night. Went late last night (sorry guys) with my friend and we shared a burger and fries as well as the Bread pudding dessert. One of the best meals in town! Ben served us and he was a rock star.
