Amazing!!! A great place to grab a bite before the game. Let me break it down. Service: TOP TIER! Max took amazing care of us and made sure he went above and beyond to make sure that we were well taken care of. Ambiance: the air is very energetic on a Saturday when it's game day. It's definitely a good place to be. Food: lots of flavors and the drinks were very good. Not watered down or too much. They were just right. Please keep in mind that the reason why they call us five is because there is only five menu items for appetizers and for entrées . Therefore, there is a limited selection.

Rocky start. Must of had a few reservations planned. Our first time in Athens. Suggest clearer menu with pricing. Almost walked out .. seated but no waitress until we asked what was up?.... Ordered burgers. Food came quick and was good. Waitress kind.

We came on a game day, and it was pretty busy. We were greeted at the front and were seated after a few minutes. There are plenty of seating options, one side is a restaurant and there is a bar to the right when you walk in. The menu here is pretty limited, but I personally wasn't too hungry, so I ordered a plate of fries to share. They were devoured within minutes, so we ordered another plate. They were delicious though, served hot, perfectly seasoned, and topped with Parmesan (I think). We also ordered Yoshi Chicken to share. This dish was iffy for me. The lime was dry, and the chicken was an interesting squishy texture. We had to double check to see if it was cooked through - it was. And we didn't get food poisoning. Yay! My friends ordered a pasta and salad to share between them, and asked to split it into two different plates. When it came out, I thought they ordered two different plates because it was filled! So I would recommend sharing plates as the portions are quite generous. Our server was friendly, but it was a little hard to hear her sometimes because it was pretty loud in there because of the game. I liked the vibe of the bar/restaurant. It was decorated with a lot of paintings and pictures, which was fun to look at. Overall, Five Bar is a great place to hit for a quick bite before going out.

We had brunch here on a Saturday. The wait was minimal, but within the hour the place was packed, so I think we timed it right! The pitcher of mimosas hit the spot. The wait for our food was a bit long, but once it arrived we were pleased with the presentation. The waffle in the chicken and waffles entree was SO delicious! The chicken, for those who like dark meat on the bone, will enjoy it more than I did. And the breakfast burger with fries was a hit with the others at the table. Overall it was a great start to the day and a nice place to stop in while visiting downtown Athens.

Simplicity is one of the many virtues of Five Bar. There are five entrees on the menu. The menu includes, also, a few of what they call "snacks," such as pimento cheese and tuna dip served with chips. In my estimation, Five Bar is one of the best of the many good restaurants in downtown Athens. - It's upscale but not fussy. - The food is great. We both chose the 12oz aged Ribeye served with fries. The steak was one of the best I've had. It was perfectly seasoned with a perfect medium do on it. We got the pimento cheese and tuna dip to go with it. Everything on the table was awesome. - The service was exemplary. We were seated immediately upon entry. Our server, Kristjana, did a great job all the way around. She was on the ball the whole time and helped make the meal fun. I'd be more than happy to sit in her station again. - Note: We visited on a Sunday night around 7:00. The place gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights when immediate seating is not likely to happen. They don't take reservations, so it's first come first served. - Prices were quite reasonable for the very high quality food and great service. - It's full bar so all of your booze groups are covered. I washed my meal down with a Creature Comforts Tropicalia and a Makers Mark rocks as one does. Cheers.

They had an area tarped behind us for remodeling.

The food was great! The servers were wonderful and very polite! And the atmosphere is so cool - very eclectic. Chandeliers and disco balls, Bob Marley painting and then ones of Uga and Vince Dooley - straight up "Athens"!

Five Bar is neat because they just have just 5 entrees on the menu. I prefer that over having a ton of choices because you know the chefs are experts in each variation and it's less work to choose. Our server was also pleasant and speedy, and the ambiance was awesome-- in my opinion the best of any downtown restaurant. However, Five Bar didn't eek out Five Stars from me. It started with their lack of paper menus, which I view as lame. Part of why people my age enjoy going out us so we don't have to use our phones, and it kinda kills the vibe when everyone goes back to scrolling when they sit down at the table. Our table was also wobblier than a 1700s whaling ship, and the only thing that made it worse was when our server sheepishly came over and informed us they were unable to make mozzarella sticks. I'm not exactly sure how a mozzarella stick shortage comes to be, but between that and the magnitude 7 earthquake the table was causing we were sussed out. Finally we requested a move, and were subsequently served food that was good, but not quite at the quality the price implied. I still would've given Five Bar a 5 if everything had gone well minus the slightly lackluster (but still good) food, but all the little things added up and I had to dock a point. If you live in Athens I'd still check this place out though! I got the impression that Five Bar is usually a more charming experience-- just avoid the table 3 down from the Hull St. window.

Pretty good spot. It's a little pricey and pretty loud, but nonetheless a good spot. It is a small menue so just keep that in mind.

Pleasantly quiet, with friendly and efficient staff. The seafood rigatoni is better than average, and the salad with it is fantastic.

Nestled in a gorgeous building that was once a residential house, the restaurant has a gorgeous and cozy ambience that makes you feel like you're visiting with friends from the moment you enter. The menu changes with the seasons, and I've never been less than impressed with the often-inventive dishes. I highly recommend starting with their cast iron cornbread. It sounds simple, but it's truly elevated. Right now, the sweet potato brown butter pierogies are absolutely mouth-watering, and the hazelnut bread pudding is rich and a perfect blend of sweetness and cream. The waitstaff is top notch and you'll receive better, more attentive service here than at restaurants with much larger price tags in Atlanta. They also have an impressive cocktail program and wine list. On the "it's the little things" list, the candles 5 & 10 uses in the restroom are outstanding! They sell them and they're spendy, but worth it.

A chaotic period, and when my brother and/or I were in town to help out with these exhausting and time-consuming tasks, finding quick, reasonably priced, somewhat healthy, and hopefully tasty food was challenging indeed. I unfortunately didn't discover Maepole until 2025, but it nicely ticked off those boxes. Maepole is basically a "fast casual," Southern-inflected "bowl" place, with a much heavier emphasis on the nutritious and fresh than is typical of traditional Southern cooking. You start with a base, just like at Chipotle or Cava--greens, sweet potatoes, or quinoa, etc.--and top with veggies or salads, and, if you prefer a protein, you can add chicken, pork, or tofu. Or you can just go full-on veggie plate. Top with a flavorful sauce; my favorites were the spicy avocado and lemon herb. My general impression of the food quality was that it wasn't quite at the five-star level some of the time--veggies weren't always cooked to perfection, for instance--but the general experience and value, as well as the bold flavors, argue for bumping this rating up to five stars. Plus, every time I think about Maepole, I sure wish my current city had an option like it.

I was 3rd in line and pleasantly surprised + pleased. Think Chipotle meets Chopt (the salad bar ). Fresh ingredients. LOTS of mix and match options OR preset menu items. And just as many drink options, including locally made kombucha. I ordered the winter salad and low country plates. With the exception of the turmeric ginger dressing (a little too zesty for me) and the hoppin John salad (hoppin John OR salad ... not both ) EVERYTHING was delicious. I enjoyed the salad way more than I thought I would. The spicy avocado dressing is YUMMY! The greens were cooked to perfection - another shocker. The edamame crunch, tofu and crunchies were just as delicious. I will visit the Atlanta location just to try the fritters! A wonderfully healthy and scrumptious delight !
