Seafood fettuccine Alfredo Pasta
Courtney N.

Overall a good experience at The Chop House, my only 2 dislikes were that my Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo pasta could have used some seasoning (everything kinda blended together and tasted the same). And it was either the noise level or our server was just soft spoken, but we could just barely hear her. We went around 6pm for Mother's Day, so the lighting was perfect, as well as the rest of our food.

Dinner with friends-portions were big enough to split with a friend or take home leftovers for an appetizer later. Food is consistently cooked appropriately and tasty. The vegetables are not overcooked. I liked the piccata . My friends liked the salmon, chopped steaks, and the burger. All 3 said their choices were perfectly done and they would order them again. The sweet potato with cinnamon butter is a favorite. Bread comes to the table while you wait. Service is great. Plenty of parking . Sometimes a little noisy.

The steaks were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The service was fast & efficient. The ambiance can best be described as "linen table cloth" style....well appointed tables and service. I highly recommend this establishment!

New York Strip with baked potato and corn brûlée

Visited the Chop House to celebrate a house closing. We had a 7:00 reservation to sit at the bar. The restaurant is very nice and has a steak house feel to it. We had a wonderful server who took great care of us all night. I ordered the prime rib. It was delicious and perfectly medium cooked. The loaded potato was full of sour cream, chives, cheese, and bacon. My wife got the New York strip. She had it Pittsburgh style, seared on the outside and medium rare on inside. First came out a little rare but was corrected by the kitchen. We both loved our corn brûlée. Overall a nice celebration meal.

I like the deviled eggs with the piece of bacon in it. The shrimp & crab cake combo is ok. I got a grilled shrimp from my friend's plate to eat with my salad & it was good. The crab cake is more bread than I care for but it's flavorful. JA liked her sirloin steak & mashed potatoes. The calamari & fried shrimp was good & I also took a couple of those shrimp to eat with my salad. I think JO liked the fettucine ok but will probably try something else next time. I prefer the lunch prices! I had the lunch combo of chopped salad with a voodoo chicken taco, which I really liked both. The server was nice and the ambiance is perfect. This is my favorite spot in Athens so far.

Decided to try chops after graduation night because they were the only place that was taking/had reservations. The atmosphere of Chops is very upscale--dim lighting, profession yet friendly staff. It's a shame the food didn't match up the ambiance. I ordered the catch of the day which was the mahi mahi on rice pilaf and a side of loaded baked potato. Mahi Mahi was salty and dry which was sad because the rice pilaf had so much potential. Was not a fan of this fish at all, and everyone who ordered it at the table agreed. My friend ordered the rib eye which j tried a piece of and that was pretty decent. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the loaded baked potato. For appetizers we had the shrimp and calamari. Once again, very salty almost distractingly salty. I'm such a calamari fan but I did not enjoy this. I tried the Southern Belle to drink, sweet but strong. I would order it again if I wasn't driving. Overall, for this to be classified as an "upscale" steakhouse, the food was very lackluster. It gives very much LongHorns with an expensive price tag.

The food is the same quality as Longhorn for a lot more money. The service is not what you would expect for the money. Not worth it.

We enjoyed the Pearberry which was light and delicious, as well as the Japanese Old Fashioned which my partner thoroughly enjoyed. Although the price for bacon seemed hefty, it's almost a slab instead of slice of bacon. It's a solid portion and very thick and deliciously coated in a sticky sweet sauce that we enjoyed. We were having a great time and were in great spirits but it took a turn once we were seated for the dining portion of the experience.. I think our experience came from the person manning the meats, who in our opinion doesn't know proper temp checks. We ordered multiple filets, ribeyes, and a tomahawk at our table of 5 and every single one was under. We asked for medium and medium rare throughout our table, but they all arrived severely underdone. The tomahawk was the biggest disappointment, when you pay a hefty price, you expect better results.. but it was raw, because rare doesn't even really describe it. We are not the type to make a fuss, so we just ate our steaks and asked for sauce to make them palatable. The flavor was there but it was very subtle, it could used a bit more seasoning. We relied heavily on the sides and our prior experience at the bar to keep spirits up. The reason this review isn't worse is because regardless of our dining experience, our bar experience was superior and I'd go back strictly for that. I would try it again to see if the cook has gotten better but not for a while.

I also never had to ask for water as the waitstaff always made sure we were topped off. Food: The steaks were fantastic. We got the filet with fries, ribeye with mashed potatoes, rolls, and Brussels sprouts. Steaks were excellent of course and rolls were so soft and fluffy. When I came a year and a half ago, I thought the mashed potatoes were way too buttery and the duck fat Brussels sprouts were way too meaty. This time around the mashed potatoes were perfect and the Brussels sprouts recipe is new as it is a balsamic reduction with Parmesan which were fantastic. Overall this was a great dining experience but definitely a place to come on a nicer occasion or celebration due to price. My entire experience was 10/10 and so sad to be graduating because I don't know the next time I'll be back to Slaters.
