Counter service with awesome restaurant-style service. Our food came out in no time and it was really easy to order off the menu. The chicken was crispy and the biscuit was super soft. They also provide glass service for alcoholic beverages! Will train and the manager was very caring about every guests' experience when I was there. Very generous servings as well! Will definitely go again.

Located in the east side of Athens, Preacher Green's serves up an outstanding rendition of traditional Southern food. The menu at Preacher Green's boasts a delightful array of Southern classics, each dish crafted with a meticulous attention to authenticity and flavor. The country fried steak is a masterpiece of simplicity and flavor. Accompanying the steak is a generous ladle of creamy white gravy, a classic Southern touch that enhances both texture and taste. The gravy's velvety smoothness and savory notes complement the hearty steak, creating a harmonious marriage of flavors that leaves you longing for more. Beyond the exceptional cuisine, the ambiance at Preacher Green's is warm and welcoming, reflecting the genuine Southern hospitality that accompanies every dish. I was very well planning my next visit before I had even finished my meal.

Great little southern kitchen, in the old Turtle's Records space. I had the fried chicken sandwich and fries, with tea. Homemade potatoes were great, and the chicken was crispy but tender, the best combination!

Truly, a great value and five star dining experience. I have not been to a restaurant with such kind and attentive staff. I ordered my food to go was ready within 10 minutes. When I got to the restaurant, there was an employee standing towards the front greeting and opening the door for every customer that entered/exited. When I went to the togo counter one of the employees took every go box out of the bag and insured everything item was correct. I have never experienced such diligence in ensuring quality service. I ordered the barbecue sandwich- very high-quality meat and the vinegar sauce pairing was AMAZING. I wish I had taken a picture before- but it looked so good I forgot. The best part about this meal was how good it made me feel after even though it wasn't the most healthy option. For the price this place is an absolute winner! Please give it a try!!

Go DAWGS! The real standout of the meal was the duck fat tater tots. These were sinfully delicious. They were crispy, rich, and easily one of the best appetizers I've had in a long time. They include three different dips We visited during lunch service, and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. The portions were generous, especially considering the price, and the overall quality was excellent. The food: I went with the Fried Chicken Blue Plate. Between the regular and the Nashville Hot, the Nashville was the winner--flavorful and moist without being overwhelming with the spice. Huge shoutout to my server for suggesting the brussel sprouts; that glaze is incredible and they were easily my favorite part of the plate. The mashed sweet potatoes were unique--I'm still debating if I liked them or loved them. The jalapeño cornbread was a bit sweet for my taste but on par with most restaurant cornbread. The mac & cheese wasn't bad, but also didn't do much for me like most restaurant mac & cheese. The cocktail: Do not sleep on Nana's Naissance. I wasn't sure what to expect from the ingredients, but it's like an elevated take on Rumchata. The service: I was seated at the bar and experienced a noticeable delay--a group that arrived well after me almost finished their meal before mine arrived. However, the waitress acknowledged the wait before I even had to mention it and made things right. I really appreciate that kind of proactive service. We're all human, and they handled the situation very professionally.

That said, fight the traffic and construction weirdness and get your butt in here. I had the georgia peach French toast plate with eggs and bacon. Definitely the best French toast I've had in a long time. One (albeit minor) issue - they said they do "soft scrambled" eggs, but they came out pretty much regular. This is a common issue with pretty much every breakfast restaurant I go to, so no removal of a star. But I'd recommend you tell waitstaff that you don't do soft scrambled if you really don't. This place is inviting and warm, and the service was great.

Thus is my pain when recounting our visit to Mama's Boy. We stopped here for breakfast before heading out of town on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in September. Prior to visiting, I read that the wait here can be a bit intimidating but we lucked out coming on a day when there was an away football game which I think took some folks out of town as we only had to wait about 20-25 minutes. It's a casual joint where you order at the counter (but only after you've been given a table) and the food is bangin'. I was not playing it healthy here, going for the Truck Stop Biscuits & Gravy which was a biscuit topped with sausage gravy, sweet tea brined fried chicken, and topped with scrambled eggs. For my side I went with grits (because when in the south!) and of course I had a refreshing strawberry lemonade to wash it all down with. Everything was excellent. The biscuit was fluffy, the chicken was juicy, the gravy was flavorful...and it was all perfect together. And the grits were so rich and smooth and so very tasty! It was casual service but everyone who we encountered was really lovely. Bless the mama's boys of the world for bringing us such a delicious dining experience!

Friendly professional service, our server was very nice and helpful. She went out of her way to make sure we had a nice dining experience. Great food options, with a lowcountry inspiration. The menu is lowcountry focused and the food is executed beautifully. We started with a dozen of the local oysters, they were fresh, sweet and delicious, a solid start. After giving the menu a good perusal, my dinner companion went for the evenings special. The evening special was, shrimp and crab ravioli. This is a generous portion of nicely prepared ravioli's filled with a sweet succulent crab and then whole shrimp in a rich cream sauce. Presented simple and clean, she said it was delicious, and my sampling of it was just that. Pan seared red fish over etufee was my choice, again a very good meal. A nice serving of perfectly cooked Red fish mixed over a generous portion of etufee. Spicy, succulent, full flavored. It was a really solid selection and very good. A couple sides to go with our entrees, the mashed potato and brocolli, both were done well, simple and tasted good as you would expect. The biscuits, oh those biscuits. The biscuits were a great addition. All in all a solid dining experience and well worth the effort, good lowcountry food done well. As well reservations are recommended especially on the weekends. 4 Stars - recommended 01075
