The restaurant was busy, and I was thankful for patrons who showed me the ropes (aka ordering at the counter and seating yourself) as I would not have known. I've been coming here for over a decade. Food is always amazing! The mint tea and 1/2 Matthew sandwich is my favorite! It comes with fruit and the garlic aioli on the side. Don't skip the aioli! Also, comes with crisp pita chips that I constantly crave when I am not in Athens. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to your table. What an awesome place for lunch! One of the sales consultants for the hospital brought us lunch today from Marti's. It was my first time eating from here although I've heard lots about how good this place is...it did not disappoint. I had the Martha's Salad Plate. I chose curry chicken salad and pimento cheese for my plate. The pimento cheese was possibly the best I've ever had- bold statement...but true. They also offer frozen entrées, that serve up to 4 adults and come frozen, that I intend to order several of for the holidays when friends are over. Top notch food. Looks good. Tastes good. Marti's is delightful and a place to go for a nice lunch or afternoon snack. The parking is not the best, but the atmosphere is nice. The staff greets you and was answering all the questions we had about the menu. I had curry chicken salad nibblers plate. The pita chips are delicious and crispy with great seasonings on top. The curry chicken salad is not spicy but flavorful and sweet. I had an orange poppy seed cookie which I thought tasted like a regular sugar cookie with poppy seeds. My dad has been in the hospital, at Athens Piedmont. The hospital food of course isn't great, so my sister and I decided to try Marti's since it's right down the street. We both got a pretty big meal each, and shared with each other to try lots of different things. Everything that we got was delicious. My sister got a The Rhett- Melted with cheese and tomato on pita bread with a side of apricot mayo. OMG YUM. This was the fave of the day. I ordered The James- Ham and cheese with French Dijon mustard. It was good, but had thick slices of ham like you eat at thanksgiving and I prefer slimmer meat cuts. The pimento cheese with homemade pita chips was also a favorite. That is some of the best pimento cheese I've ever had. GET SOME. I ordered a scoop of curry chicken salad, which was also delicious to me. If you've have curry chicken salad before then you'll probably love this. It has fruit in it, like grapes and apricots. I get that the hospital workers love it, but when my other coworker told me it's basically an over priced/over hyped Chicken Salad Chick kind of place- she was right!! PRICE: 5 All entrées were between $9 to $10, and if you want to get the half sandwiches or half salads, they are only $6 or $7! The food is good, not outstanding, but for about an hour and a half at their namesake "midday" the place is very very noisy, crowded, and there are long lines to order at the counter. There are a few tables outside but they mostly in the sun and are next to a wide busy street with traffic noise and fines. Food: 3/5 Good food but limited, lunch-only menu. There are two kinds of chicken salad, curry and tarragon- but lunch ends up being $11-12 for a half sandwich or one scoop of chicken salad, pita chips and 4 small pieces of fruit, and some celery It's location is good for workers stuck in Normaltown with few other choices for lunch nearby. The new Chicken-Salad-Chick in town will give this place some serious competition in menu variety, value, and quieter, less crowded dining, and worker-friendly hours, IMHO. Parking-0/5 there are only a very few (4 maybe?) parking places, otherwise you have to find parking on the street (with meters) which isn't easy at lunch time. Other: The location is near a hospital and medical offices. I noticed several people coming into the lunch counter area with scrubs on and even shoe covers-leaving one to wonder if medical and dental employers had adequately instructed employees that scrubs are for keeping germs in the medical areas so as not to carry germs inside (to patients) or outside (to the general public) So why bother wearing scrubs if employees wear them like street clothes, in theory spreading germs and medical detritus to the public and carrying germs back to patients ? Should t there be an outside window for carry-out orders and pick up instead of having scrubs inside with diners? read more

First time here and ordered the Rhett and the Mathews favorite. Def not what I was expecting but the food is great and the portions are big!! You get a thick slice of turkey like a thanksgiving size slice. It's juicy and delicious. The sauce that comes with the Mathews favorite was so good. And both meals came with pita and fresh fruit!
